Fantastic day out, arrived around 11:00AM and left around 16:30. Loved seeing all the animals, especially the Meerkats who were more than happy with the attention shown to them! The talks throughout the day were free and really informative, the keepers were happy to answer any questions that we had. The bird displays by Richard were excellent and it was clear there was a passion for birds. All the keepers were clearly passionate about the animals. If we are ever in the area again, will definitely stop by! Cafe on site provided good food too although a little pricey for what you get. Overall fantastic day out!

So many beautiful and friendly animals! Hand feeding is certainly an experience in itself so I recommend buying a fair few bags as you won't want to stop. The birds of prey show was an experience in itself also and the gentleman presenting is a very funny guy who can make anyone one laugh. I went with my partner but there's lots for all ages. A good sized play ground for the children too.

A good morning out, takes about 2-3 if you include lunch and the scheduled talks. Small place which is reflected in the price and good price for animal feed. Staff informative and friendly. Child friendly with play areas.

Found this little gem when looking for things to do in keswick. We only live an hour away and had no idea it existed. Small disappointment the reptile section was closed off for refurb but defo a reason to go back again

Incredibly fun! We booked the Ultimate Animal Experience - we cuddled up with the wonderful Tapirs, Muffin and Zico, were scrambled over by the mischievous Meerkats and we also hand fed the Lemurs. The lady who did our tour was an absolute gem, very welcoming and gave us plenty of information about the animals and the wildlife park itself. Quite frankly £65 for this experience (which includes park entrance) was an absolute bargain.

While in the Lake District we visited this wildlife park. It’s a reasonably sized wildlife park and was enjoyable.
They have parking at the top of the hill. Disabled parking is down the hill near the entrance (we didn’t see any sign posts so thought I’d say incase people need to know)
They don’t have maps which is sad as I like to keep them for my scrap book, but they do have one just as you come out reception so take a picture if you like to use a map.
When enter you can buy a bag of feed for £1 we got two bags as we didn’t think there was a lot. With that food you can hand feed, goats, sheep, donkeys, & dwarf Zebus I may have forgotten one but the bag and keeper will state when you buy it. You can also feed the pigs but not by hand you have to throw it to them!
We watched the flying display, I liked it was quite laid back and the keeper just let the black kite fly around and it’s own leisure - he lets it out 5/10mins before he talks at 3pm, so if you see a big bird flying around that’s Raymond! 😀
Overall it was a nice day! 🩵

Hello. I visited on Sunday 16th April and saw the otters and fox pandas being fed, the reptile talk and the bird of prey talk. I thought the standard of presentation and knowledge from the keepers who did these talks was very high and so inspiring. They were all engaging and even made it playful and fun too. I really enjoyed my day out with my niece (I\'m 28 yrs old and live locally in Cockermouth) and wasn\'t sure how engaged I would be as an older visitor but I had the best day. We were there for about 4 hours and it flew by. Thank you! Thank you especially to all the speakers who presented the talks on that day.

Definitely worth spending time here if you are up in the north lakes. It’s great to see so many fabulous animals naturalised to the Lake District environment. The larger animals, particularly , have large open spaces to explore and appeared very relaxed and at home. The team are very knowledgeable and passionate about wildlife and conservation. The bird of prey talks and flights are particularly enjoyable.

We haven't been here since July 2014 when we did the same 'Ultimate Animal Experience' which was an hour spending time with the tapirs, meerkats and lemurs.
As we were staying an hour away we decided to go back and repeat the same experience.
(Booked for 15:30 on Sunday)
We arrived soon after midday and spent the next few hours wandering round looking at all the animals.
It's not the biggest zoo but it's easy walking and most of the enclosures are really good for taking photos.
You can buy a bag of animal food for £1 from the entrance which can be used to feed some of the animals (great fun feeding the really fluffy alpacas!)
We went back to the entrance at half 3 where we met Kirsty who was looking after us for our experience.
The tapirs are so cute and we brushed their fur while Kirsty gave us loads of information about them.
Next we went to get some food and went in with the meerkats. Kirsty threw food down for them and they jumped up and sat on us and we were able to gently stroke them on their backs.
Lastly we went in with the ring tailed lemur and sat in a wooden structure in their enclosure. Again lots of food put down and the lemurs came over to eat. We were also able to hand feed them too. They are so cute when they hold onto your hand in order to get the food.
Lovely relatively small zoo and I would definitely recommend visiting if you're in the area.

Thank you for such a comprehensive review. It is brilliant to hear that you visited again after 9 years to repeat the same experience you did back in 2014, how lovely! It is great to hear that you enjoyed hand feeding our animals especially the alpacas, they are real characters. Thank you for your recommending us and please don't leave it so long before you come and see us again!!!

Is there proper wheelchair access to the animals i.e. not on gravel paths? It can be very difficult to push a wheelchair over gravel - not good for the pusher, the wheelchair occupant or the wheelchair tyres!

Paths are good most of the way around. No problem

Hi the park is mainly flat with reasonable good surfaces for a wheelchair there is a couple of uphill and downhill paths but nothing that I believe is not doable for you and your family.
Hope you enjoy your visit.

How wheelchair accessible is it as there is nothing on your information regarding disabled access. Is it fairly level and no steps (even small ones can be an issue if more than about an inch high)

Hi We try to be as accessible as possible, however some people do find the gravel on certain parths a little challenging, but are team are more than happy to help :)

Is it still worth coming to the park on a day like today (rainy)?
LakesWildlife
كيسويك, UK
Certainly! It's a little quieter and I've noticed that some of our regular wildlife photographer are in today. The animals seem to be enjoying the fresher weather, between showers and are very active today. If you have childlren, we do have a soft play centre you may wish to use if we have another shower. We have talks/displays/feed time every half hour too, so lots to do :)
