Hatsumode on New Year's Day
It gets crowded as soon as you leave the station,
The road to Jingu
Not too far away.
It's not that crowded.
Unlike before,
Street vendors are also located outside the roadside,
It's getting easier to walk.
Although there is a parking lot,
It's pretty crowded.
And there's not enough restrooms. It's crowded.
Recommended Amazake in the Miyauchi branch

It enshrines the first Emperor, Emperor Jinmu, and is still visited by members of the Imperial Family. But you don’t see or hear about it as much as you do at Horyu-ji and Todai-ji, even though they are venerable shrines, except when you hear the news that the imperial family has visited.
I feel like I understand when I go. This is a proud Jingu dedicated to Japan’s oldest emperor that does not shy away from attracting people like a tourist destination. Pass through the torii, a large gate, and through it a splendid main shrine. Behind the main shrine is Mount Unebi. Like Omiwa Shrine, Goshintai is built like a mountain. My understanding may be wrong, but I saw the awe of nature and the mystique of enshrining the Emperor and mythology. On the south gate, there is a sign that says "2684 AD". It shows the years counted from Emperor Jinmu.
From the station to Jingu, there are no stalls or souvenir shops as in tourist areas. I saw the status of a shrine within a shrine.

I parked my car in the parking lot and paid my respects, but I have the impression that it was difficult to get around on foot because the site was reasonably large. It's a shrine with a long history and is considered to be the beginning of Japan, so I think it's OK to go there at least once, but it's not like you can enjoy it.

I was staying near Kashihara-Jingu-mae Station and visited on a morning stroll.
Enter through the first torii gate and pass through the Minami-shinmon gate and you'll find a fairly large plaza.
A wonderfully refreshing view spreads out before you, including the lush green mountains used as a backdrop.
A wonderful place where you can feel the incredibly long history.

At the beginning of April, I came all the way from far away to visit Kashihara Shrine, which has a connection to my family. It was a little disappointing that there were folding chairs lined up as there was a ceremony the next day, but the shrine building was magnificent and had a solemn atmosphere in the vast grounds.
I was looking forward to receiving my goshuin, but it was written by a young shrine maiden. The lines were slanted, the thin characters were weak and spindly, and the thick characters were overlapping and looked like a black lump. I have received goshuin from young shrine maidens at other shrines, and they were all wonderful. I suppose I should be grateful for anything, but I was very disappointed by how poorly they were written. I would have appreciated it if the shrine maiden who wrote the goshuin had at least thought about the selection of the person to write it. It makes me sad to look at it, so I try not to open this page of my goshuin book.
On the way back, I met Kako-chan, who looks great in photos. On the way back from the visit, I was able to relax at Fukada Pond, watching the waterfowl and the cherry blossoms that were just starting to bloom.

Kashihara Shrine is dedicated to Emperor Jimmu.
Every year, it is crowded with people making their first visit of the year.
It is highly recommended as it is easily accessible.
There is ample parking space, so families can visit with peace of mind.

To conclude our stroll through Asuka Village, we visited Kashihara Shrine.
We cycled straight from Ohara Shrine, the birthplace of Fujiwara Kamatari.
As you'd expect from a shrine, the grounds are vast, and the small gravel makes it slow to move from the entrance to the main shrine, so it's best to allow plenty of time to visit.
It was Shichi-Go-San season, and the mascot characters "Yata-chan" and "Kako-chan"
were there, so we asked them if we had time to take a photo.
They posed in such adorable ways that it became a wonderful memento of our trip.

This shrine is located at the foot of Mt. Unebi, on the site of Emperor Jimmu's palace, and was founded in 1890 by Emperor Meiji. Although it is a new shrine, the main hall was relocated from the Kyoto Imperial Palace and is a national treasure. You can see the priests performing their duties, which makes it a very special place.

Unebi, where legend has it that Emperor Jimmu's Kashihara Palace was located, and this shrine was built by the Meiji government to worship Emperor Jimmu and Empress Himetataraisuzuhime.
Walking along the long gravel-covered approach to the shrine, passing through the Minamishinmon Gate on the right, you can see the outer worship hall located in the vast grounds, where you can worship at the offering hall with the forest of Mt. Unebi behind you, a magnificent sight.
Although it cannot be seen from the worship hall, behind the offering hall is the main hall, which was apparently relocated from the Kashikodokoro that once housed the Yatagarasu mirror at the Kyoto Imperial Palace.
To be honest, I'm not particularly interested in new shrines with no history, but I can see why this shrine has so many visitors.
