‪As a vegan or vegetarian you have to do your fair amount of research when you want to eat in Japan. The cooking class with Washo is a great way to enjoy an awesome self cooked vegan meal, to learn something about Japanese cuisine and upscale your cooking skills for back home. The teacher has an amazing knowledge about healthy diet so you might even learn something you didn’t expect.
Definitely go! It’s half way between Kyoto and Osaka and makes an awesome half day trip.‬

‪Mr. Sho is an excellent chef and made us feel at home. I thoroughly enjoyed this activity and was one of the best experiences in Japan. He not only educates you on the chemistry of cooking, but focuses on healthy cooking and finding ingredients that aren’t heavily processed. I would do this again.‬

‪I’ve taken several cooking classes and eaten lots of different styles of Udon in Japan, WASHO’s cooking class far exceeded our expectations.

Sho, our instructor was patient, supportive, knowledgeable (he has a chemical engineering background) and funny! He provided very nuanced cooking and ingredient shopping tips that help take our dish from good to excellent.

It’s a true labor of love to hand make the noodles from scratch and you could taste all of that work in the final product. I highly recommend WASHO cooking and we’ll be taking other classes from Sho in the future! ‬

‪What a great way to spend the afternoon. We love taking cooking classes when we travel and learning more about local cuisine and we loved our class with Sho! He is so passionate and precise and we learned so much during our ramen class. The end product was delicious and we can’t wait to try what we learned when we get home. Thanks for a great day! ‬

‪I booked this class for our family of 4 and so glad I did. Sho is so very knowledgeable and interesting. He was full of facts and his class was an absolute delight to do. From the time he picked up up to when we left we were so totally enthralled by everything he taught us and by his amazing wealth of knowledge of the food industry. He did everything so precisely and the end product was out of this world. It was the nicest meal I had had in Japan during my two weeks there. My teenage kids were reluctant to come but in the end were so pleased that they did because of Sho's scientific knowledge and very interesting class. It was a pleasure to spend this time with Sho.‬

‪It is one of the awesome experience in our travel to Osaka.
We late because of complex train line but SHO and Kiyomi welcomed us warmly.
And cooking class, It was really useful and fun.
The place was really cozy, neat and have good atmosphere.
We made udon noodle ourselves(Five minutes, but surprisingly It was so chewy) and learn the word ‘Umami’(We used that word in S.korea too when we found the food have a nice taste)
If I visit Osaka again, I want to try make fried kyoja too.

‪I never knew vegan cooking can taste so good. Sho explained in great detail how to cook the ramen. The kitchen Sho created is extremely welcoming as he modeled it after a home kitchen. Highly recommend this class or anything that Sho teaches if you are visiting Osaka!‬

‪Sho was awesome and the process was really fun, this was the BEST udon we had in the two weeks we traveled in japan - hands down. He had an in depth knowledge of how to the best flavors out of the stock and dish, and noodles. It was fun and we would recommend it to anyone. It’s reachable by jr train and sho met us at the station. Now we just have to try to make it at home! ‬

‪I had such an amazing time learning to make vegan raman! Sho and his wife were so friendly and welcoming! He was very knowledgeable and happy to answer all of our questions. Sho is a wonderful teacher and makes cooking fun and easy! I would highly recommend this experience to others and look forward to making this recipe at home 😁‬

‪Sho and his wife were the best!! My husband and I took the udon noodle making class, and it was one of the highlights of our trip to Japan! So friendly, wonderful cooking studio, and great fun. Sho really makes you feel welcome! We can't wait to have our friends over to make noodles with us! Only 3 minutes from the train station and Sho met us there to walk with us to his studio. Couldn't have been a more pleasant and easy-going day!‬
