‪Walking through double doors into a hot tropical atmosphere. The Butterflies were everywhere and if you stand patiently they will land on you. The far end of the enclosure is a little pone with feeding stations for the Butterflies. Down this end were some spectacularly large ones. The Farm ship the Butterflies to many locations. Great for children.‬

‪If you like nature you will love this.
Hundreds of butterflies, all different colours, shapes and sizes.
I loved this experience, with the butterflies fluttering around and landing on me.

‪Butterflies galore!‬

‪Positives

- I’ve never seen so many beautiful butterflies. The place is literally teeming with them. Great opportunity to get up close with them and take some great photos. Be warned, it is very hot in there.
- Due to the heat, you can go back in as many times as you want.
- Admission is reasonable.

Negatives

- The bug handling was good, but lots of children were losing interest. It almost needed another person to talk whilst the member of staff was coming round to the different tables.

I would nevertheless recommend!‬

‪Absolutely stunning little find, second time there and still stunned at the beautiful butterflies that land on you, its an amazing tropical tunnel and if your lucky to see the little tree frogs even better!!!! ‬

‪Stressful due to lack of monitoring of the general public‬

‪I am surprised there are any butterflies left! In the time we were there I witnessed groups of children running around trying to "get" various butterflies, children and adults touching caterpillars and butterflies and on at least two occasions children saying "oh, it's dead" after handling them. I raised my concerns about one group of children doing this to a staff member, she came in a said she would keep an eye on them but didn't do anything despite them continuing with the same behaviour. The rules should clearly be stated on the front on the piece of paper that is given to everyone on arrival rather than on the back and the no handling/touching rule should be overly stressed verbally and in print. I didn't see anybody reading the sheet so obviously the message was not getting through to visitors. Also bins outside the house were overflowing and there was no rubbish recycling facilities, which says a lot about attitudes to the environment. Stick insects on sale for £1?! is that really encouraging children to care for living beings effectively? There was some lovely specimens there, but it was worrying seeing that their wellbeing was not being taken seriously enough.‬

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We have a zero tolerance policy on anyone running or touching the butterflies. We will do some further training with staff to ensure it is reinforced within the welcome speech. We do of course also rely heavily on parents/carers to ensure that children in their care follow the guidelines. Bins are emptied regularly and the Tea Room/Farm Shop does have a bin specifically for recycling. (The Tea Room is not part of our business). Regarding Stick Insects, We don't sell any single stick insect for £1, especially not to children . We do however offer adults who are inspired by our mini beasts the opportunity to buy a very easy species to keep at home for £10 for 10 Stick Insects, These are offered with care guidelines and are only sold to suitable recipients who are keen to keep and look after them at home. As an Entomologist with over 40 years experience in tropical Lepidoptera, the butterflies wellbeing is taken extremely seriously and to witness our butterflies breeding , laying eggs and living their life longer than in the wild tells us that their needs are being well and truly met. ‪Enchanting place - SO MANY butterflies!!‬

‪This is an absolutely fantastic place! I visited with my 6 year old granddaughter and was amazed at just how many butterflies there are, and how they fly around you and land on you all the time! It was really enchanting. It's not huge, but big enough and worth the small entry fee. A photographer's dream too, easy to take pics of the various species. We were given a sheet with pictures and descriptions which my granddaughter loved, seeing which ones we could spot. Highly recommend, and we will be back!‬

‪Great place to go on a wet day‬

‪Great place to take the grandchildren on a wet day. Amazing amount of colourful butterflies to see. Its very warm and humid inside, but you can come out and re-enter at any time.‬

‪Beautiful little butterfly farm 🦋‬

‪Took our grandaughter who is 2 & she was amazed by the amount of butterflies 🦋 you could go in and out as much as you liked. Wear lightweight clothes because hot inside tunnel.
It’s very small with little gift shop but so glad we went & there’s a small farm shop and car park.
I would suggest to go to bluebell railway or Sheffield Park also as they are very close to each other.‬

‪Where to take the grandchildren in the holidays‬

‪What a lovely day. Entrance price was well within budget. Nice to see all the different colours and sizes of the butterflies in the butterfly house. We went through 3 times so I guess we saw them all. Then we sat at the benches and had our picnic. It was great.
The staff were all very helpful. Also the ice cream from the shops was a good price. Will be going back again.‬

‪It really is a wow moment when you first walk into the tropical flight area. There are so many species and colours it was so difficult to concentrate. Because we're both enthusiastic photographers we stayed over 4 hours and went through the flight area several times. Simply amazing.
Staff were really helpful.‬
