Lovely walk; just a bit too early for flowering. Great cafe for a break. Handy parking for those with a blue badge and a free buggy for getting around for those that need a lift. Volunteers were working hard to keep the gardens tip top. There is also a secondhand bookshop.

It’s a great day out, inside you can find a lot of interesting facts.
The house tour was great, we were pretty gutted that you couldn’t go upstairs. Nonetheless it was pretty cool to see the inside.
The cafe has very limited options; they don’t cater for gluten free either. I would definitely recommend bringing your own food. There is a lot of places outside to sit down too, which is great.

Had a lovely day out, lots of interesting things to see and do, all the volunteers and staff are very knowledgeable. It felt very real as if you were stepping back in time.
Apprentice house tour is brilliant, our guide brought it to life very well
Cafe is very expensive and limited choice, would recommend bringing your own food and drink, there are plenty of spots to sit down
All in all a lovely day out

Had such a lovely time walking round the mill and house. Everyone seemed fantastic and was very informative. The shop also has lovely items in.
However, we went walking in the woods for 10-15 minutes, only to be met with two locked gates on our way back. There were no times on the gate to say when it would be locked. We climbed over, and my pants got ripped.. We approached a member of the national trust who was ringing a bell. We told him and he was rude and said we shouldn't have climbed over. If you had written down the times, we wouldn't have gone for a walk.
It is a lovely place to go, but keep an eye on the times. Locked out or chased out with a bell.
(Not all the staff was rude, just the young man with dark hair)

This was our first visit to Quarry Bank Mill and we opted for a self guided tour.
The scale of the Mill is staggering. The mechanical engineering involved in the production of cotton and fabric all those centuries ago was mind boggling. However, it was undeniably shocking to realise that despite evidence of employees being relatively well treated, they were primarily children and women who worked long hours in extremely dangerous conditions.
The contracts of employment were harsh, hardly any safety measures, no fair reward system , the tough discipline and the regular injuries sustained were even more shocking. Whilst not forgetting there are still instances even today where working conditions are unacceptable, the whole experience at Quarry Bank Mill certainly brought home how times have changed by comparison in terms of healthy and safety laws, and the drastic improvement in employment terms and conditions.
We managed to squeeze in a whistle stop tour of the Mill owner’s house before heading to a pre booked tour of the Apprentices house. The guided tour around Apprentices house was excellent. Hats off to the energetic tour guide in period costume who kept the group thoroughly entertained and engrossed by the experience.
On the whole, our visit to Quarry Bank Mill was an enthralling journey back in time, the opportunity to see firsthand how a real life Textile Mill was constructed, developed and operated, and the key people involved in its success was fascinating . Would high recommend a visit to anyone interesting in social and industrial history.

Me & my family really enjoyed our day here. It is one of the best National Trust sites we've been to. We headed first for a tour around the Apprentice House where our enthusiastic & highly knowledgeable guide (I think he was called Keith) really brought to life what it was like for the children who were housed there. Then after a light bite in the restaurant we went for a look around the Mill itself which again has friendly & expert guides on each level. Lots of working machines were being demonstrated so that you can fully get to grips with the cotton fabric production process. The size of the water wheel is immense! After that we went to look around Bank House where the Gregg family lived which was beautiful and had lots of interesting artefacts of theirs - including children's toys/games. We then went for a stroll around the stunning riverside gardens. The gardens are full of snowdrops, crocuses & hellebores. We wished we'd taken some bird seed for the friendly robins. Thank you to all the Quarry Bank staff for a brilliant day out!

It is overpriced and there are other mills which go into more detail about the technical process of weaving and textiles making.

Lovely place to look around the mill and a lovely place to go walking. Really enjoyed it. Also was lovely to see it busy on a bank holiday with lots of families too.

Took our 1 year old granddaughter to the Xmas experience, very disappointing.Entrance consisted of a very basic row of undecorated Xmas trees, a tiny Xmas display, a broken wooden train set and a cheap tunnel, 2 volunteers making Xmas cards and a volunteer reading a book with a couple of musical instruments. No Xmas music playing, and a rushed regimented visit to see father Xmas in a room with little thought gone into the decoration of the room(it was bare). Could have gone to the local community centre for free. The only decent thing was the gift.
Visited the cafe after. Overpriced and only 3 highchairs in use the rest broken behind a screen.
