The Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta ⛪️ stands on the eastern hill of the Girfalco, not far from the central Piazza del Popolo. The main Catholic place of worship 🛐 of Fermo is located in a large wooded park 🌳 surrounded by belvedere 📷.
Imposing facade in Istrian stone, majestic neoclassical interior. As soon as you enter, the sculptural group of the Assumption of Mary into Heaven, behind the high altar, immediately catches the eye.
The crypt is also very interesting, rich in relics of saints and works of art.
The Cathedral of Fermo is definitely a must 📌 for that passes through these parts, the majestic size and the large outdoor park combined with the many panoramic points will catch the attention of the visitor.

The Duomo is an imposing cathedral offering breathtaking panoramic views of the city and its surroundings. The Gothic architecture is magnificent, and the interior is decorated with beautiful details and significant religious art. It is a place of peace and reflection, perfect for a spiritual visit. The cathedral is one of the highlights of Fermo and a must-see.

You are impressed by the grandeur of the bell tower and the beautiful bronze portal.
And once inside you are kidnapped by the refined domes and you have to go down to the crypt to complete the work!
The particular gear of the bell tower is very interesting

Beautiful church, it is a climb up but you are equal at the highest point of the city. So be sure to enjoy the beautiful view!!

Going up after Piazza del Popolo you arrive at the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta. Very beautiful externally with a long avenue both inside. As you enter you will find the old bell machinery. Inside there is a very ancient and particular wooden organ, the altar and the crypt are very beautiful. It absolutely must be seen.

Unfortunately I wasn't able to visit the inside because when I was there there was mass, but the outside is interesting and very particular. The façade dating back to the Romanesque-Gothic period and covered in Istrian stone has an asymmetrical appearance, merging with the bell tower as if part of it were missing. The portal and the rose window are very beautiful, the position on the side of a park at the top of the city is also beautiful.

The cathedral is dedicated to the Virgin and has early Christian Romanesque, Gothic and neoclassical origins. Four churches placed one above the other of which little was known until 1934, the date in which excavations began. The façade is in Istrian stone and has an elegant portal with a beautiful rose window. There is a large atrium before of the entrance into the actual church whose interior is in neoclassical style. also visit the hypogeum with a Roman basin and the crypt with many relics of Saints and Martyrs

I would like to point out that the following considerations are purely personal. The intent was to see the Duomo but....Despite it being Saturday it was closed and only reopened at 3pm!!! We then turned to the Diocesan Museum next door after 1 hour of waiting outside. Well, the Diocesan Museum also enjoys a long lunch break and would only reopen at 2pm. Be careful: they don't have a POS, you can only pay in cash and they didn't even have change, so bring some counted cash.
The museum itself is not very large, the 2 stars are for the organization found.
It is a real shame that although there are not many places to visit in Fermo and the visits are short-lived, it is not possible to visit the very small Fermo in a single day. Will they do it on purpose?
The Duomo should be a key place, I prefer to pay a ticket even to enter a church, but open your riches!
The museum itself is not very large, the 2 stars are for the organization found.

It dominates the city, in the ancient Piceno-Roman acropolis and from here you can admire a wonderful panoramic view of the sea and the surrounding hills. On this summit there first stood an early Christian basilica and then a thirteenth-century fortress, which was destroyed in the fifteenth century.
It is accessed from a large square and a long driveway shaded by centuries-old trees, among which I recognized the cedars of Lebanon.
The façade is stupendous and majestic and preserves the Gothic-Romanesque style of the Comacine masters even after the renovation of the building, in neoclassical forms, which took place in the mid-eighteenth century. The religious building is covered in Istrian stone and has a valuable portal with bronze reliefs.
The interior, with three naves, is a true treasure chest of artistic beauty and, alongside grandiose elements in neoclassical style, it preserves (especially in the crypt and in the basement) remains of sarcophagi, decorative elements or early Christian or early medieval buildings.
A visit not to be missed!

A beautiful imposing cathedral, which from the top of the hill dominates the plain up to the sea, austere externally, beautiful internally, with a crypt to discover, where the relics of Blessed Antonio Grassi rest.
