This seemed like a totally random piece of artwork at first sight, but now I know what it is about it all makes perfect sense. Good on you, Frank.

Very well-kept roundabout and memorial. It is nice that Lutterworth has made this memorial for Fank Whittle.

Welcome to Lutterworth!
I always come this way to tend to local family graves in Kimcote.
This large jet plane is situated by the M1,near Lutterworth,and is a reminder of how important a part Lutterworth and Mr Whittle played in our aviation industry.

Unless I'm missing something this is just a plane on a roundabout. Maybe there is more information elsewhere, and there is no doubt that Frank Whittle made a remarkable contribution so merits the statue, but there is not much more I can say about it - something I go past a few times a week

Niet echt iets 'om te doen', maar wanneer je vanuit het zuiden richting centrum rijdt zie je dit monument vanzelf op het laatste ronde punt voor High Street. Het markeert wel de meest merkwaardige geschiedenis van het stadje; te bezoeken samen met het monument voor de uitvinder op Whittle corner.

When we first came across this on the entry roundabout to Lutterworth we were impressed.
What’s great idea to Mark the town and the men himself.

Impressive memorial albeit most people will not have a clue what it commemorates.

Impressive plane in the middle of a roundabout, south of Lutterworth town centre, and a useful navigating point. But... I'm not sure anyone world take a trip to see it specifically?

They are on about having to move this due to traffic management. Hope they put it to one side of this road, people of Lutterworth paid for this tribute to sir frank whittle, make sure it is not left on the scrap heap!
