We’ve been to Beer many times however this is only the second time we’ve stayed. Both times we’ve stayed in the Dolphin hotel. We love Beer, the beach and surrounding areas is lovely and the walk to Seaton is fantastic.

This is a lovely place, as if time has passed it by. The overall setting is spectacular. It's a steep approach to a pebble beach with fisherman's boats and gear making a picturesque setting against the high white cliffs that surround the cove of Beer.

Lovely beach, would not have even known about it let alone found it if our local friends took us there
It is clean and laid out with sets and umbrellas with a great cafe to grab some good food
Well worth a visit

Amazing beach, not too many people. We hired a beach hut for the day as it was very hot.
Toilets are at the top of the beach but we didn’t mind. Lovely spot, we will return again soon.

We visited Beer when staying in Devon during whit-week and when the weather was amazing.
Beer is so pretty! The beach is all pebbles, lined with cafes on the beach for drinks and lunches, picnic benches and deck chair rentals.
There’s a seafood shack to buy fresh fish including cockles/mussels etc and The Anchor pub with an outdoor seating area overlooking the bay.
You can walk to Seaton, approx 2 miles on the coastal path.
This part of the Devon coastline is very hilly with lots of steps so may be tricky for those with mobility issues.
Definitely worth a visit, loved it!

Lovely beach all pebbles as we were aware. Several places to eat on or near the beach.
Not somewhere I'd spend whole day but a few hours fine.
My only qualm was the parking not much of being a small town and very hilly. But I thought parking was expensive £4 for 2hrs I think is slightly on the dear side. Bought pasties in the local bakery which were lush 😋. All in all a nice visit

Wednesday 12th April and I visited stretch of beach along the Jurassic Coast by the village of Beer.
From the village I walked down Sea Hill which took me past the renown Beer Fisheries, the Fine Foundation Centre Heritage Centre and Charlie's Yard down to the Beach.
The picturesque Beach which consists of shingle which lies in a sheltered cove in shadow of the dramatic limestone Hooken Cliffs and Beer Head.
The central part of the Beach is a working beach with fishing boats lined up along the pebbles beside the crab pots, nets and a winch to move boats about the beach.
From here it is possible to take fishing and pleasure boat trips.
On both sides of the fishing boats and equipment, standing under the cliffs there are a number of seasonal beach huts. There are two restaurants/cafes, one on either side of the boats, with seating spread out across the pebbles.
Facing the sea, on the right hand side of the beach, is the home of Beer Yacht Club, with a variety of boats, dinghies, catamarans and other sailing vessels on the Beach.

We were touring Southwest England, and honestly decided we needed to come here just because of the name! Well worth it but…
Just a warning – there is no beer served on the beach!
You can get it in the town just above and well worth the trip just for the scenic beauty!!

Hello all
We've booked a cottage here and it's regatta week !
Can anyone give any insight into what to expect?
We read that part of the beach is dog friendly and most venues are - anyone care to add more?
We expect we will be able to fish locally - 🎣🎣 we both love mackerel fishing, but is it worth packing any course fishing equipment? Any carp lakes locally? Or our heavier sea tackle ? Anyone fished the area and give us any pointers as to what we may catch?
Lastly does anyone know if there is a local doggie day care in the area? We love boat fishing but won't leave our puppy unattended.
Thanks in anticipation and sorry for so many questions.

Beer regatta is brill, the week is packed with different events to suit all ages and interests (including the famous 'barrel rolling') the events take place in the main Street, the beach, the gardens and even in the sea! The best day is 'regatta day'(Thursday) with a firework display at 9:45. There are too many things going on during the week to mention so I suggest that you buy a regatta program available from local shops.
Mackerel fishing boats runs from Beer with equipment available, the fishing trips can last from one to three hours. You can also hire small self-drive boats from the beach. Bass fishing is good at Branscombe or Beer Head.
I don't know anything about dog day care companys but there are some including pawficient pet care, pumpkins pet care & Drum kennels.
There are lots of coastal walks on the south west coast path in the area such as Hoken Cliffs (Beer to Branscombe) which is a nice walk with dogs.
I recommend the AVMT Buses service 899 it runs from Seaton to Sidmouth via Beer & Branscombe, it's a good way of exploring the area (the ride is particularly scenic between Beer, Branscombe & Sidmouth as it runs through narrow country lanes).
enjoy your stay in Beer.
