In questa villa settecentesca che da sola potrebbe essere una attrazione in una posizione favorevole tra mare e campagna, il museo Guttuso è ben strutturato portando il visitatore nella poetica pittorica dell'artista bagherese ben inserendolo nel contesto in cui si è mosso nella sua vita.
È una vera e propria galleria di arte contemporanea da gustare con attenzione.
La mostra si snoda su tre piani senza dimenticare la gipsoteca che è in un padiglione a cui si accede dall'esterno ed il giardino dove sul lato nord vi è la tomba di Renato Guttuso.

The Guttuso Museum set up at Villa Cattolica in Bagheria, I liked it for the location and because it has several sections in whose path the good guide Nella has provided us with many explanations (pictorial works of art, Sicilian carts, gipsoteca, film posters of 1940-60 era films). Basically, the Bagherese Guttuso was an exponent of realist painting, interpreting the struggles and conditions of the proletariat with chromatic inflections absorbed by elements of Sicilian folk art. In his life there are various pictorial phases with expressionist moments, in 1946 he was part of the New Front of the Arts, and then return to history paintings, unfortunately I did not like the last part of his pictorial history I found him subjugated by the ancestry and carnal adventurousness of Countess Marta Marzotto. The outdoor museum has the ark in blue granite with the remains of the painter, made by the sculptor G. Manzù, is a parallelepiped sarcophagus with bronze doves on one side, the proscenium is very beautiful seems to wish the soul to twirl between sky and sea in boundless spaces.

For some time I had wanted to visit this museum in Bagheria in the splendid Villa Cattolica and the works of Guttuso who also arrived in Varese from his Sicily (very close to where I live) where during his stay he drew inspiration for some of his paintings and works. The museum is very large, set up on several floors and multiple rooms. It also hosts a contemporary art exhibition with depictions and sculptures. Guttuso, a Sicilian artist DOC!

The exhibition places Guttuso's works alongside those of other Sicilian and other artists from the last century and is truly beautiful, the sculpture Guttuso's Edicola takes your breath away.
The collection of posters and film posters from the 1900s is also very rich.

The highest rating, but with many though
A splendid and scenic Villa which unfortunately, in the last century was ruined by the proximity of an industrial plant which is now abandoned and has a very high impact.
The rooms dedicated to Maestro Guttuso and other artists are very large and allow you to fully enjoy the paintings on display. The installation of the sculpture L'Edicola and the caption on how the restoration work was carried out are beautiful.
The section dedicated to the master decorators of Sicilian carts is interesting, where overall everything is well kept, but dust, humidity stains and an unintuitive route ruin a visit that could certainly be even more engaging.
The contemporary art installations are interesting but placed in ravines that are not at all accessible (humidity and lots of midges).
There is also a large section dedicated to old film posters (it's not clear why - but it's interesting)
Beautiful, as beautiful as a funerary monument can be, the tomb of maestro Guttuso created by another great artist of the 20th century - Giacomo Manzù.
Friendly and helpful staff in giving directions at the entrance and also during the route!

Beautiful visit accompanied by Mrs. Rosalia, museum guide. He introduced us to the world of Guttuso with great professionalism and friendliness. Really very good

Il Museo Guttuso si trova, giustamente a Bagheria, città natale di Guttuso, recuperando una splendida villa, tra le tante di Bagheria però non visitabili o perché private o perché abbandonate al degrado, così come un po’ tutta Bagheria. Il Museo illustra la storia del pittore, raccontata dalle guide comprese nel prezzo del biglietto. Personale cortese e gentilissimo

Ottima location per un’esperienza siciliana a 360 gradi. All’inizio della nostra visita abbiamo avuto il piacere di conoscere e seguire la guida turistica Chiello Rosalia: molto competente e bravissima accompagnatrice. Ottima davvero 👏👏👏

Il museo è ben curato ma nelle sale la disposizione l'ho trovata confusionaria senza spiegazione alcuna circa la scelta degli artisti senza un filo logico o perlomeno io non l'ho capito perché non c'era nessuna spiegazione. Per le opere di Guttuso si potrebbe fare di più
