It's my first time here. It is the cheapest aquarium in Tokyo, so there are many families! It was very crowded partly because it was a Sunday. They say tuna is the main dish here.

The entrance to 700Y for this aquarium whose main interest is to offer many Pacific species.
2 large pools with a beautiful diversity.
Note also the visit of the nursery on the 1st floor of the room dedicated to Tokyo Bay.
Continue through the gardens around which are friendly.
We also eat at the BBQ next to the entrance.

The aquarium was pretty quiet on a weekday morning when we went. Our kids enjoyed the huge variety of sea life and especially the penguins.
It is not the snazzist sea life park but great value and educational. Not a lot of English signage except for the species names.
The cafeteria was specious and pleasant. The food was decent.

I visited again on January 26th after a long absence, and the "Penguin Ecology" area had been closed since January 11th (due to repair work due to deterioration, scheduled to be completed in October 2024, see attached photo). I think the "Penguin Ecology" area is one of the attractions of this aquarium, so if you are visiting for the purpose of seeing the "Penguin Ecology" area, you need to keep this in mind. Among the exhibits, the "Weedy Sea Dragon (World Oceans Area)" is a rare fish that is only kept in about seven of the approximately 150 aquariums in Japan, and this is the first time it has been bred in an aquarium. Also, during my visit, there was a notice on the wall of Restaurant Seawind announcing that the "New Aquarium" will open in March 2028 (scheduled) (see attached photo). It is announced that the new aquarium, known as "Ocean Voyager," which currently houses tuna, will have a water volume of 3,000 tons, up from 2,200 tons.

Without a doubt, the best aquarium in Tokyo and one of the most prominent in Japan nationwide. The collection is truly spectacular, with tunas as the big stars, plus many other interesting species, including various sharks, blue penguins and a huge number of fish and invertebrate species, many of which cannot be seen in Europe. In addition, the environment is very beautiful, and it also has a small outdoor corner dedicated to freshwater habitats, the Freshwater Life Center, which goes unnoticed but also has interesting species.

This is a small aquarium with nothing particularly interesting to see.
There are only migrating tuna and penguins.
The exhibits are good, but the tanks are dirty, small, and it's very crowded, so it's hard to see very well.
Also, the main customer base is families with children, so it's not suitable for people who want to enjoy the exhibits quietly and at a leisurely pace.
It was disappointing that many of the merchandise items were ordinary as well.

The admission fee is low. The place doesn't have any attractive shows such as a dolffin show to attract people, but surprisingly, creatures living in the seven oceans of the world are on display. This is a good place for elementary school students to learn about the aquatic life that lives in Tokyo Bay and more. The deep sea creatures are also interesting.
One of the most spectacular exhibits is the tuna tank. The 360-degree panoramic viewing was very impressive. Children must be delighted.

Tokyo Sea Life Park is run by the government, so it explains its low, low entrance fee of just 700jpy (~5usd). It's even cheaper for students, elderly and visitors in large groups. Despite its affordability, we were still amazed by these outstanding areas:
1. Informative displays
They have aquatic animals from all over the world, and informative pictorial displays explaining the habitat and special features of each habitat's animals. Our favourite was those of the Deep Sea, especially apt to be displayed here since the deepest trench of the world, the Challenger Deep (10,984metres/ 36,037feet deep) lies in the Pacific Ocean just south of Japan.
2. Hypnotic tuna tank:
There was a standalone two-floor-high tank JUST for tunas, in a separate space from the main three-floor-high tank. There were hundreds of one-meter-long tuna fishes just swimming non-stop all around you as you sat in the auditorium-like space. With a really gentle and soothing, running commentary in Japanese which we didn't understand at all, it seemed like the best place to zone out and be hypnotized by it all.
3. Brilliant tidal pool (with an interactive area and octopus display):
Pretty cool that they actually built a tidal pool with simulated tidal waves which rise and recede periodically just like the real deal, so visitors can closely observe the tidal animals in this almost-real but controlled habitat. Usually one could only visit the real tidal pools during low tide, which usually happens in the wee hours of the morning just to get to see these amazing tidal animals. But here at this tidal pool, visitors could easily see the sea stars, anemones and snails literally just two steps away from your feet. The interactive zone in this area was useful to educate the public how to correctly handle the animals. The display of an octopus actively squeezing through the tiny transparent tubes was quite a sight, too.
The Tokyo Sea Life Park also has lots of outdoor spaces such as those housing the penguins and being built right by the sea, it was wonderful to enjoy the sea breezes as you walked around the park. Absolutely enjoyable.
There is only one eatery, called Sea Wind Restaurant, in the park. We found the one right outside, called ParkLife, with a more appealing menu so we ate there instead.
You could also take a family photo as a souvenir at rhe entrance/exit, at a low cost of about 10usd.

Tokyo Sea Life Park is a perfect place for people from all walks of life. Besides the variety of sea life indoors, outside was a picturesque view overlooking the water, and a very well-maintained natural walkway of Kasai Rinkai Park. The pricing is very affordable.
It can get very busy with kids and school students, but we had a great time.

Nice aquarium with a large variety of sea creatures, even from the deep sea, which was impressive. But there didn’t seem to be shows/at least not on a large scale with seating, so I thought it paled in comparison with the Fukuoka one (Marine World uminonakamichi).
They give you an option outside the entrance, whether to park your pram/stroller or bring it in. Either way is allowed. Just that you’d be brought in via a back entrance if you do bring it in and you’ll have to queue for the lift, etc. I see why many choose to leave it outside, it’s just easier to see the exhibits and all, with the crowds.

We (one adult, 2kids) are visiting Tokyo between the 2nd and 6th of September. I purchased our tickets to Disney SeaLife through Trip Advisor, because I had trouble with my credit card on the official site (this happened only with their website, don’t know why).
Two questions:
- I received the tickets/vouchers through email which said that these are the tickets and that we are to print them and scan the code upon entry to the park itself. However on
“TOKYO DISNEYLAND & DISNEYSEA: Guide for First-Timers” it says that we have to exchange this “voucher” for the Disney pass, at one of the train stations. Our “ticket” looks exactly like the “voucher” in the above article.
Is it a ticket, or a voucher? Is it to be actually exchanged for the actual pass?
- I read here on trip advisor (can’t find the link now) that some people could not redeem the pass that they bought through Trip Advisor and they had to buy the tickets at the gate, all over again. Did anyone have this happening?

We (4 adults: age 21 - 54) are going to visit Japan from 10/22, and 1st 2 days we will be in Tokyo.
We will be staying at the hotel neat Tokyo Station, and on the Day Two (Monday), we would like to go to Tsukiji Fish Market around lunch time, but I'm considering to visit Tokyo Sea Life Park BEFORE going to Tsukiji due to we want to go to Super Potato in Akihabara in the afternoon (they don't open until 11 am!).
So, I wanted to find out the typical required time to visit Sea Life Park to see if that itinerary is doable or not...
Can anyone help me?
كُتب بتاريخ 8 سبتمبر 2016
Assuming you will be getting there by train I think at a minimum you will need to plan your itinerary based on at least two hours between your arrival and departure trains.
