Truly classic Japanese landscape garden in central Tokyo, located just next to Hamamatsucho Station. The origin of the garden has a story. It was beginning of spring when we visited and the day was overcast but you can feel the calming energy of this place and you could only imagine how stunning it must be when in bloom. I could really see myself sitting here on a nice day reading a book in a peaceful atmosphere or simply taking all of the beauty in with a good cup of Java in hand. If you get the opportunity, enjoy the calm!

Petit jardin, coquet , entouré de buildings, ce qui fait le contraste de Tokyo. Nous y sommes allés en décembre et il était beau à voir aussi.

浜松町駅からすぐのところにある都立庭園。国名勝。入園料は150円。江戸幕府老中であった大久保忠朝上屋敷の庭園「楽寿園」が始まり。その後、紀州徳川家、有栖川宮家、宮内庁などを経て、1924年に昭和天皇ご成婚記念として東京市に下賜され一般公開された。
大きな池「大泉水」を中心とした池泉回遊式庭園。当初は海岸に面しており、池にも海水を取り入れていたとのこと。その後の埋め立てにより海を望むことはできなくなり、海水の取水口・水門は残っているが水路は途切れて池は淡水化されている。園内を散策していると小鳥のさえずりや虫の鳴き声が聞こえる。周囲は高いビルが林立するコンクリートジャングルであるが、それがこの庭園の緑を一層際立たせている。

こちらは、JR浜松町北口より徒歩1分のところにあり、入園には整理券が必要で、事前にインターネットで申し込む必要があります。
入園時整理券を提示して150円を支払い入ります。
この庭園は、小石川後楽園と共に、今東京に残る江戸初期の大名庭園の一つ、回遊式泉水庭園の特徴をよくあらわした庭園で、池を中心とした庭園の区画や石の配置は、非常に優れているそうです。
園内は綺麗に整備されており素晴らしいです。
弓道場もありました。

We came here at the recommendation of the Tourist Information Center when we said we hadn’t seen much good foliage color this year. They were wrong in sending us here for foliage in late November of the year - there were only a few momiji in color and the grass was already brown. The best tree was the one winter blooming sakura we found: seeing those is always a treat.
Seniors entrance fee was ¥70 (regular admission is ¥150), with a discount coupon from our ‘Tokyo Yes’ tourist booklet, we got in for ¥50 apiece. It’s a good thing, because had we paid more to see non-existent foliage we would have been unhappy.
The borrowed scenery for this landscape garden is not mountains but high rises which surround and tower over the small garden. We tried to imagine what the garden used to look like, with the villa that once was here and without the skyscrapers ominously looking down on it.
The pond is pretty enough. Small hillocks are easy to climb and offer a slightly different view of the pond. A path takes you around the pond for an even greater variety of views. You can cross a bridge to a small island in the center of the pond; the second island was closed off to access when we visited.
There are many interesting rocks placed throughout the garden - reading about them after our visit was informative. Several well placed lanterns were also photogenic. Perhaps the best thing about the garden was that there were only a few other people there.
We used this small garden as a test for the condition of color at Hama Rikyu Garden which is quite close. Since the color was a disappointment here, we did not bother going to the nearby garden.
Access to the garden is easy with a JR Pass using the Yamanote Line. The garden is next to the Hamamatsucho Station.

My travelling company and I spent a very pleasant sunny morning strolling around the lake in this beautiful city garden. The tufted ducks were a particular pleasure to watch. We spent about hour in the gardens and would recommend visitors to have this on their to do list.

こちらは浜松町駅から徒歩で約１分くらい。近隣に浜離宮という別の庭園もあるのでよく混同してしまう。浜離宮よりも小さい。

Very easy to visit, right next to Hamamatsucho Station, five minutes south of Tokyo Station by JR Yamanote Line, and if you are a senior (65+) admission is only 70 yen. Known for early blossoms of plum and cherry, and most notable for the way it has become completely enclosed by skyscrapers. A very peaceful respite from the busy streets.

都立九庭園のひとつに数えられる大名庭園で、浜松町駅からすぐです。世界貿易センタービル展望台のついでに寄りました、そばを新幹線が走っています。近くの浜離宮よりはこじんまりしていて私には丁度よかったです。周囲のビルが逆さまに映る鏡のような池は、その昔海水の満ち引きを取り入れていたそうです。お天気がよくとても暖かい日だったので、近所のオフィス街で働く方たちがお昼休みを過ごすため大勢いらっしゃっていました。年間パスは600円、入場料はたったの150円で、都会のオアシスといった感じです。
