‪We booked our tour on line and were hosted by Amanda who gave us a lovely tour and was able to explain and show how the elevator received, stored and transferred grain to the trains. There is an ability to touch and step in some areas. We were able to see some of the products that are generated from the agriculture grown. Questions were easily answered and there are interesting displays

This tour was enjoyed by our grandchildren especially when Amanda gave them the opportunity to plant some seeds (wheat, peas) and take them home. They were absolutely delighted and they are doing very well.

Your visit could run - 30 - 60 minutes depending on questions .‬

‪The grain elevators that make up the Canadian Grain Elevator Discovery Centre can be seen for miles around due to the brilliant orange colour of the tallest of the three. Unfortuantely we were not able to do a tour, but we did find out some information about these buildings. They were almost torn down, but the townspeople of Nanton, along with neighbouring ranchers, were able to save not one, but all three buildings. I will definitely be booking a tour during my next trip to Nanton so I can also explore the inside of these buildings and learn more about them. They seem to be an important part of this and other towns in Alberta's history.‬

‪It's interesting to see how a grain elevator works. If you are lucky to take a tour, the better, as it's very informative. Our visitors from Africa really enjoyed this stop because it was so different and they've never seen one before. The outside orange colour shows up so nicely against a blue sky in the picutres. Well done and worth a stop!‬

‪We were given a tour by a guide who had some sort of personal connection to the grain elevator so we felt it was engaging and quite fascinating to learn about Alberta's rich history. ‬

‪The grain elevator tour is wonderful! The lady that does the tours clearly has a passion for it and is very informative, presenting the information in an easy to understand way and happy to take questions. There is a lot to explore and look at. A great look into Alberta's history at an inexpensive price.‬

‪On the prairies you hear about/see grain elevators routinely and now I know way more about what they're about!

We had a personalized tour - just the 3 of us - on a quiet Sunday and I think our tour guide was glad for the company. So, we had a customized tour with a guide who was patient with our questions and happy to answer them all.

The construction -- the feeding pipes and buckets and loading docks and all the hard work needed to put it all together and switch from one grain to another is impressive.
The way the grain wore the wood down to a velvety smooth finish was fascinating. They are such a large part of prairie history and disappearing quickly, so to see one in the flesh was a great experience.

The coolness of the elevator was also welcome on a hot summer day!

It's very reasonably priced and clearly some additional funding is needed to make the museum even better.‬

‪I went on this guided tour because I had seen these all over Alberta and never knew what purpose they served.. and considering that my grand parents were grain farmers I felt very silly.

The fee for the guided tour is $4.00 / person and they do love additional donations. They is a bathroom on site. Please note this is not friendly for wheelchairs and does have a few tight spaces; few people at a time to check out certain things. I really think for the cost of the guided tour and the amount I learned, this was the diamond in the ruff at Nanton. This attraction does not get enough spot light and it should get lots.

The tour was led by a wonderful woman who was extremely patient with me. I have a tendency to jump all over the place and ask really random questions. She was able to answer most of them. She showed us the blue prints of the grain elevator so that as we are guided on our tour we could get a vast understanding of the layout and needs of the grain elevator.

From the 18 feeding pipes and buckets to the chalk board and train loading dock, we really got a great view of the hard work and labour needed for someone working in this type of environment.

We got a history of this grain elevator and even showed us a big blunder that happened as well (I will keep it a surprise... I was floored).

I hope you take the time to stop here.‬

‪Interesting stop that is really quite surprising.
Didn't have alot of expectations for what it would be like and what I would take away from it but very pleasant and worthwhile endeavor.
Well presented and informative.
Not sure that anyone will be disappointed and think everyone will learn at least something new.‬
