Die organisatorische Seite war sehr gut, Herr Saathoff sammelte mich am Bahnhof Peenemünde ein. Sein Wissen zur ehemaligen Heeresversuchsanlage ist riesig. Er spricht so sehr schnell dass man Mühe hat Schritt zu halten. Das Gelände wurde so stark von der Natur zurück erobert dass man viel Phantasie einsetzen muss um den Umfang der Anlage nachzuvollziehen. Der geschichtliche Aspekt ist erheblich und wird gut vermittelt.

Eine Fahrt durch den abgesperrten Bereich der Insel mit Blick in die Vergangenheit. Man braucht ein bisschen Fantasie, um die ehemaligen Anlagen der Raketenforschung in der üppigen Natur noch zu erkennen. Herr Saarhoff zeigt mit alten Photos und Dokumentationsfilmen, wie es zu Zeiten des Nationalsozialismus dort aussah und erklärt auch, wo auf dem Bild man sich gerade befindet. An einigen Stellen darf man aussteigen und markante Punkte besuchen, allerdings ist das Gebiet immernoch mit Munition und anderen Hinterlassenschaften des Kriegs belastet - herumstromern verboten! ACHTUNG: Bitte telefonisch angekündigen! Mückenspray ist ein Muss! Wirklich sehr empfehlenswerte Tour.

We hebben deze rondgang in een aftandse bus meegemaakt. Als je liefhebber bent van de DDR en WO2 dan kan je deze 2 uur durende rondrit met gids volgen voor 12 euro p.p. Weet dat er bitter weinig over is van de raketinstallaties te Peenemunde en dat je enorm veel fantasie moet hebben om nog iets te kunnen opmaken uit de totaal overgroeide ruines van betonblokken. Zonder gids lijkt het onmogelijk om hier iets te herkennen.

Wir hatten im Vorfeld zwei Plätze gebucht. Am gebuchten Tag ging es pünktlich ab Abfahrtsort los. In einem Kleinbus mit einem mehr als kundigen Herrn Saathof ging es durch das Gelände. Mit alten Fotos, Anekdoten, Unmengen von Informationen und kurzen Filmen gespickt, vergingen die zwei Stunden wie im Flug und das Gebiet nahm in der Vorstellung etwas Gestalt an.
Sich vorzustellen, was hier alles erfunden, getestet und gestartet wurde und mit welchen schrecklichen Auswirkungen, war und ist schon beeindruckend.
Auch wurde die Aufforstung des Gebiets erklärt, genauso wie manche der seltenen Pflanzen.

This is one of the best tours I have ever done !
I was the only person on the tour and was taken around by Reiner in an old VW van, but must have had brilliant suspension as ground pretty bumpy in parts. There were four main points to the tour
1. their own private museum called Mugglehof which was a real treasure trove of original parts from planes and rockets, and a great diorama of the whole area to give you an idea of what you are about to see
2. the Waterfall rocket launch site
3. the V1 launch site
4. the famous Test Stand 7
In between these sites I was taken round all the roads and avenues and Reiner showed me A4 photos of exactly where we were and the buildings that used to be there, as it can be quite hard to evisage otherwise as all now heavily overgrown. He also uses a satellite map on his screen to show you exactly where you are.
His English is excellent and really paints a great picture of the facility in 1943/4 etc
The cost was 50 EUR, but that was for two people, so if I had someone with me it would still have been 50 EUR which I think is excellent value.
The tour lasted three hours, and Reiner was quite happy to go longer if I wanted, it really was very casual and easy going.
I highly, highly recommend this tour !!

Wir haben mit Freunden eine historische Rundfahrt in Peenemünde unternommen. Wir wurden pünktlich vom Flughafen Parkplatz mit einem Kleinbus abgeholt. Wir sind dann in einen alten Bus umgestiegen.
Die Fahrt ging durch das Sperrgebiet. Da im Krieg vieles zerstört wurde, sind nur noch wenige Reste erkennbar.
Unterstützend durch Fotos und Videos auf einem Tablet plus einer ordentlichen Portion Fantasie kann man sich die Dimensionen einigermaßen vorstellen.
Das Sprechtempo des Guides sollte langsamer sein.
Wir empfehlen dringend Mückenspray mitzunehmen!!!

Vi var med en guide rundt og se de meget store områder omkring Peenemunde flyveplads, som før/under krigen var et meget aktivt sted med op til 10000 arbejder/forskere. Idag er der ikke meget tilbage men det var virkelig spændene at komme rundt og se de steder hvor de testede V1 og V2 raketter. Vi havde en rigtig god engelsk talene guide. Helt sikkert et besøg værd hvis man er historie interesseret

Da wir schon öfter im Norden Usedoms waren und von den Sperrgebieten wussten, kam es uns sehr gelegen, diese Rundfahrt mitzumachen, um ein wenig in die jüngere Geschichte Peenemünde‘s einzutauchen.
Die Fahrt beginnt am Flughafen -ist auch im Touristenzentrum Karlshagen zu buchen- mit dem Einstieg in einen alten Robur-Bus. Der Fahrer ist gleichzeitig unterhaltsamer Reiseführer, welcher sich gut mit der Historie des Raketenversuchgeländes auskennt und per Notebook und Fotobüchern schöne Details zeigt. Kleine Spaziergänge an markanten Stellen runden das Erlebnis ab.
Nach kurzweiligen 1,5 Std. ist die Tour beendet.

My family and I spend a few hours visiting the birthplace of rockets. The sites of the testing were heavily bombed so there was over growth in areas where buildings and bunkers once stood; however there are still some remnants of bunkers, water cooling ditches, etc to see. I still enjoyed the visit. Afterwards we were taken to a warehouse where the guide and some other rocket aficionados built a V1 on a ramp with original parts along with other rocket pieces. Very interesting tour and highly recommend it. Afterwards visit the Historical Technical Museum (not included on the tour).

If you visit the Historiches-Technical museum, take the time to go on this tour too. It takes you into the restricted area of the site where there is normally no access. Our tour guide, Ralf, was very knowledgeable and told the fascinating story of the test site. We got off at 3-4 different stops and was shown around, where we saw the launch site, train tracks and other fascinating remains. The place has that eerie feeling of having been totally deserted and nature has now taken over - a bit like I imagine Chernobyl to be.
The tour lasts 90 minutes and cost only 12 euro per person - very reasonably priced if you ask me.
