We decided to visit after a friend recommended it. Never heard of this place but glad we visited right at the end of the season. One of the fields had already been harvested but the other fields further up were in full purple bloom. We arrived early as I was told the car park fills up quickly. The admission fee was reasonable enough and the staff were helpful & friendly.
The place was quiet and you felt you had the place all to yourself. It's not all that big but plenty of space for everyone to walk in the fields. There are plenty of bees around but it was n't a problem. There is a cafe & gift shop but it is very expensive. They also run a tractor train for the little ones for a small fee.
The farm is situated right on the corner of 2 mini roundabouts which is very easy to miss depending where you came from. It is only open during the summer months so check before you go.

Watch out, the staff regularly overcharge in this shop for items you have nit bought. This happened twice to me but I over heard it multiple times in the shop. Their excuse is that they pressed the wrong button. The second time they did this to me I only had two items and thankfully I quizzed the member of staff before I paid.
I have a good mind to call the police on this establishment.

Sorry Helen but we refute this nasty allegation. It is groundless. All of our staff are trained to be polite courteous and we have invariably found them to be honest and trustworthy. If you had concerns then you should have addressed them at the time of your visit rather than post this hostile and incorrect allegation on a social media platform.

The lavender fields were lovely, but we overheard the male staff making fun and laughing at the hat I wore that protects me from sunlight because of my photophobia. I needed to use the disabled toilets but there was not any toilet roll or hand sanitiser. Finally we bought tickets for the train and notified the driver. He told us they were not moving for half an hour. When we went to get on there wasn’t any space. We got a refund but it was badly organised., plus we were told it was a tractor but it wasn’t, it’s a noddy train for kiddos. So to sum up, incompetent staff everywhere apart from the cafe and the person directing the cars.

Sorry to hear that complaint. It is unacceptable to hear that staff have not been respectful and if you would write to info@mayfieldlavender.com with any descriptions of the staff involved we will investigate. I can only apologise for any offence caused on this occasion as our staff are normally courteous and polite. Our land train is a tractor with a wooden frame in the shape of an older fashioned train. It draws two carriages with space for adults and children. Sorry if there were people ahead of you in the queue but we operate a normal queuing system and we must serve those who are waiting in line to board.

So lovely to visit the lavender fields and walk through on the public footpath which we have done for several years for FREE as it's a public right of way.
Not too happy about the slightly misleading signs and stern staff on the foot stiles trying to direct us and make us pay when we were sticking to the path.
They seem to get worse every year.
If you stick to the path you are entitled to visit and take photos unless they would like to erect 20 foot fences either side of the path to block your view.
Pay though if you want to park, run down the aisles of lavender or visit the shop and facilities.

Thank you for your comments. However I am not sure why you have rated our farm as you did not pay to come into it as a visitor. As far as I can see from your review you walked through the middle of the field took some photos and then left. You seem to be offended by being asked if you were coming onto our land to visit. I’m sorry if this offends you but we have staff posted to check if those people who wish to come into our farm wish to pay the entrance fee at the point of entry. They are polite and friendly even when people try to use the public footpath as a free entry point to enjoy our farm. This exploits the efforts of our family to present something beautiful and also mocks all of the paying guests who recognise that we run a small family business and are happy to support us.

Really chilled visit. Had a lavender lemonade and cupcake with a beautiful view of the fields. It smells amazing from the moment you open the car door.
£4 to get in seems fair. Staff all very helpful. Café has lots of tasty treats and plenty of benches to sit on.

The lavender fields are lovely but quite expensive if you add in parking and entry for a family. You can however enjoy them for free though if you stay on the public footpath that runs right through the middle of them. You must remain on the path however and not walk through the actual lines of lavender or visit the facilities and shop etc . But if you just want a trip to view the lavender, stay on the path and take a few photos and go for a walk it's lovely. You get to the public footpath over a stile and it's situated opposite the entrance to the cafe at oaks park. Lovely walks from here too.

Thank you for your review. However entry costs £4 per adult and children up to 16 are free. Parking is also free so we are a bit perplexed to see you listing entry costs for a family and parking charges as being expensive. For two adults to visit with two children the cost is £8 and there is no further charge unless you wish to visit the shop or cafe In the normal manner. Also it costs just £2 for a ride on the tractor train around the field. Entry through the centre of the field is monitored during the season so the same charges apply if you choose to enter that way. Thank you 🙏

Visited with a friend and had the most relaxing time. The Lavender looked sensational and the wild flowers too. We had delicious toasted cheese sandwiches with Lavender Chutney. A fab place to visit with children.

Visited early in the week before the crowds came. Great venue that is well organised and maintained! The lavender is absolutely lush and fabulous to watch the bees and butterflies at work! I treated myself to a lavender cider which was unusual but nice. Staff were absolutely fantastic and a real credit to your business. Big shout out to the young man at the gate and the lady serving the drinks who both took my photos and a big shout out to the team in the shop especially jess who had excellent customer service and was knowledgeable and friendly
See you again!

Hi,
A friend and I have been planning to visit the lavender fields on 4 September (it’s the earliest date both of us can make it), but I’ve just seen on the website that they close end of August? Is this really the case does anyone know?
After 5 months shielding I’ve really been looking forward to visiting here and getting out of London for the day.
If anyone knows that would be great!
Thanks

Hi
You can read all the details on Mayfield Lavender website (which we cannot print here) Our last day this season is Aug 31. 50% has already been harvested and we plan to harvest the balance next weekend - 30th probably. 🙏

Is it buggy friendly?
Info
Banstead, UK
Hi
Our lavender farm is basically a field with lines of lavender growing and a grass or gravel perimeter. The shop and cafe has a pea shingle base and while it is relatively flat the field in general should be considered as an outdoor venue with an uneven surface. If the buggy is large it will not fit between the rows of lavender but if it is small it should be fine. We just ask that you take care when walking with your buggy in the plants as it may damage the plants. I hope that helps. Best wishes

Hi, I would like to visit next weekend but I would like to be sure that the lavender are blossomed before I come all the way there. Thanks

Thanks for your question. That should be an ideal time for the lavender but please be aware that it could be a bit busy if the weather is nice. We always recommend a weekday visit for a calmer experience. Thank you
Are the farm open now during covid 19 for June 2020

Hi, we have opened with social distancing measures in place. Please be aware that the lavender does not flower until the end of June normally. Full information on our website Under frequently asked questions (sorry trip advisor won’t allow us to insert a link to make it easier for you to click.

Hello, I am visiting tomorrow with my two daughters. Both being dairy free (age 7 and age 18months) does anyone know if they do any food suitable for them such a vegan food? Thanks in advance

I can't say that I noticed any when was there (but I wasn't looking for it either, to be honest). Their selection of food is limited so it might be safer to bring a packed lunch (unless anyone else has noticed anything different).
Hey. I'm visiting tomorrow and wanted to know how much the cafe is? Would £10 be enough?

Don’t forget the entry fee of £2.50 first! Then For £10 you could get a toastie a lavender cup cake and a cup of tea or lavender punch hopefully. I think £15 would be safer to take. Hope that helps and have a nice time

Hello,
Can anyone recommend a place to stay within close proximity to Mayfield Lavender Farm? Hotel or B&B?
Info
Banstead, UK
There is a Premier in In Epsom town centre and you can get the 166 bus from our farm. Not every 166 goes all the way to our farm so just check with the driver before you set off. 😁

Hi, is the lavender still in full bloom today - June 2nd?
From June 1 to the end of June the lavender is growing still so it is predominantly green. During the period of end of June to end of August the lavender is flowers and turns purple.

Hi Louisa
The lavender normally blossoms from about the third week in June - it depends on the weather. Now it is still green.
Best wishes
