This historic 2,450 metre-long falaj is located in Barkat Al Mouz, Nizwa, and is famous for having a unique water distribution system and continuity of flow throughout the year. It’s fascinating to see how one of its channels passes through Al Radeeda fortress on its way to the farmlands.
Around the place there are car parking ,coffee shops ,restaurants ,toilets, and place for taking bath from Falaj water ..

l'eau vient de la montagne ,et un ingénieux système la conduit vers les cultures et les villages se crées là où passe l'eau, qui est équitablement partagée par des canaux les falaj.

This is an ancient irrigation system located amongst the mountains, reling mainly on the force of gravity. Amazing networks through the mountains ranges.

I Falaj sono un particolare sistema di irrigazione nato in questa regione migliaia di anni fa e che è stato riconosciuto come patrimonio dell’umanità UNESCO. Durante il tour in Oman ne abbiamo visti alcuni iniziando con il Falaj Al Khatmeen vicino al bel villaggio di Birkat al Mawz poi vari altri in tanti villaggi. interessante

Falaj, o Feleix como se pronuncia, es un sistema de canalizacion de agua que puede venir desde km de distancia en las montañas y que se conserva hasta hoy dia. Gracias a estos sistemas existen hoy dia muchos de los oasis que puede visitar en Oman

見どころも多いオマーンの古都ニズワ。世界遺産になっている灌漑施設なのでもう少し見ごたえあるものかと思いましたが・・・。ただ、古くからのこの辺りの生活には欠かせない重要な役割を果たしてきたものには間違いなく、貴重な遺産だと思います。

When you visit Oman, you must visit locations with falaj system. They are found in most villages but some are more famous than others. It is basically the water canal that supplied water to the villages homes and farms. The system was so sophisticated that the water supply is timed and distributed fairly among people. The history of how they were built, their importance as a life line to the villages and how they were used that I find very facinating.

Aby dotrzeć na miejsce pomocna będzie mapa i nazwy ze strony UNESCO. Same miejsca (widziałem 4 z 5 wpisanych) są dobrze oznaczone (m.in. betonowy słup potwierdzający wpis na listę UNESCO, z krótką informacją w czterech językach), same faladże to raczej atrakcja dla kogoś, kto jest zainteresowany kulturą lokalną, a omańską w szczególności. Mało jest w nich niestety nawiązania do tradycji antycznej (zostały w większości odnowione z użyciem betonu, ale za to woda płynie czyściutka (są nawet ryby !)

Personally, I very much like the different falaj systems and especially the oasis around them are beautiful. What I missed is a coherency; are all the aflaj in Oman part of the WHS? Or just a selected few? Nowhere was any info given on the fact that the aflaj were WHS's. But all in all, when visiting Oman, you will visit some oasis and/or forts, so keep your eye open for the little channels with water; these are your WHS...

Nel nostro viaggio alla scoperta dell'Oman, e dei suoi tesori nascosti, non potevano mancare certo gli aflaj, il sistema di irrigazione che ha condizionato l'intera struttura dei villaggi. Infatti il percorso dell'acqua indica il percorso sociale dalla nobilta' alla poverta'.. il piu' potente ha l'acqua piu' pulita, e cosi' via. Si puo' vedere come nel percorso iniziale del falaj vi sia il forte, poi le abitazioni, i lavatoi, gli abbeveratoi per gli animali ed infine l'irrigazione dei campi. Un sistema molto pratico per permettere il minimo spreco di quell'elemento essenziale della vita che e' l'acqua. Abbiamo cercato tramite il GPS di raggiungere tutti i punti segnalati sul sito dell'Unesco, ma un paio non siamo riusciti a trovarli. Gli aflaj sono conservati benissimo, perfettamente funzionanti, e sono lo specchio di un tempo che fu
