This was an unexpectedly good part of the Villa Colloredo Museum in Recanati. We didn’t plan to see it. We were wanting to see the Lorenzo Lotto paintings but it was included in the ticket price so we decided, why not? I’m glad we did. It was excellent.
Tracing the story of Italian immigration, the exhibition was well put together with good information panels in both English and Italian.
Photos were combined with displays of day-to-day objects to recreate the immigrant experience.
The stories of the poorest immigrants were very moving. Many who took up the 19th century pre-paid tickets to work in the cotton and tobacco plantations in America’s southern states were caught in vicious cycles of increasing debt. Landowners who had paid for the initial ticket, essentially trapped them in economic slavery. Others had even fewer options and resorted to covertly making their way across foreign borders to join illegal transport ships.
A particularly touching display of luggage described suitcases as “containers for hopes and dreams”. Farmers and workers carried trunks containing their tools of trade, hoping to make a living when they arrived in their new land. Others left home with just a bundle slung over their shoulder or carried on their head. Their dreams were modest and they often carried little more than food for the journey.

Inizialmente non eravamo intenzionati a visitarlo, ma su consiglio dell'addetto alla biglietteria abbiamo acquistato il biglietto unico per visitare la rete dei musei di Recanati, tra cui questo. Un'esperienza immersiva dentro il tema dell'emigrazione da un punto di vista locale. Da maestra, se abitassi più vicino porterei sicuramente una primaria. Coinvolgente, anche con giochi, racconti, attività e oggetti interessanti.

So del museo, grazie al mio figlio, che lo ha visitato, ed io sono entusiasta, di tale nobile istituzione. Lunga vita al Museo della Emigrazione!

Museo molto interessante e che, nonostante riguardi emigrazioni del passato, sarebbe molto e molto utile all'Italia di oggi: dimenticare il passato sarebbe un errore fondamentale. Gli italiani sono stati un popolo di migranti, e vedere con i propri occhi le lettere e le foto dell'epoca è stato emozionante ed educativo. Struggenti le fotografia d'epoca e interessanti i documenti riportati. Ne vale decisamente la pena, anche perché nello stesso palazzo sono presenti una galleria d'arte e una piccola area dedicata all'archeologia della zona.

Con la mia famiglia abbiamo visitato il museo che si trova all'interno di Villa Colloredo Mels. Il museo non era aperto per via delle disposizioni covid, apre solo su richiesta, visto che però era un giorno settimanale e che non c'erano tantissime persone il personale del museo molto gentilmente ci ha aperto le porte del museo per visitarlo anche senza che avessimo effettuato la prenotazione; nel museo ci sono tantissimi documenti e oggetti riguardanti l'immigrazione marchigiana verso l'America Latina, Stati Uniti e Australia, leggendo le storie delle persone immigrate possiamo meglio capire la storia attuale, lo consiglio a tutti. Interessantissima anche la parte di ricerca, dove è possibile ricercare tutti i nominativi delle persone emigrate con le loro destinazioni.

Ben organizzato, ricco di suggestioni, a tratti commovente. Un luogo che fa riflettere sui giorni nostri e sull'egoismo di chi non ha memoria.

Oltre ogni aspettativa: una organizzazione perfetta che lo rende superiore ad altri simili musei. L’ascolto delle testimonianze nel “treno”, le foto, le lettere, i manifesti dell’epoca, il sottofondo musicale, la ricerca degli emigranti nell’archivio touch screen, gli arredi, ......tutto perfetto: complimenti!!! Da non perdere.

Piccolo museo, carino... Visitabile in 20 minuti. Carino il filmato. Ci fa ricordare che anche noi siamo stati emigranti. Chi ha orecchie per intendere, intenda. Da vedere.

Le Marche fue una importante fuente de emigración en los tiempos difíciles de Italia, y este museo permite reconstruir con gran sensibilidad la experiencia difícil y dramática de quieren debieron dejarlo todo atrás en la búsqueda de nuevos horizontes.

Fui visitar este Museu, como parte do Curso de Italiano que eu estava fazendo em Recanati.
Muito bem cuidado e mostrando por filmes e ferramentas e maneiras de viver dos italianos naquele período de emigração.
Obrasil e a Argentina foram os países da América so Sul que mais receberam imigrantes italianos, especialmente da Região de Le Marche.
O mais interessante é existir a possibilidade de serem colocados dados de seus antepassados que eram daquela região e descobrir exatamente de onde provieram e para onde foram, tudo isso nos diversos computadores colocados à disposição dos interessados.
É um registro da História de dois Mundos.
