A unique historical attraction, rebuilt on the site of an original Iron Age camp. Lots of scenic views are to be had on what is quite a small site, but there’s nothing quite like seeing a roaring fire in one of the huts. There were staff/volunteers on hand with demonstrations, which was a nice extra touch.

This was a fun and informative experience for all of us, aged 5 to 62, the two rising 8year olds were learning about the Celts in school this term, so it was particularly relevant. We all enjoyed the 4 hours that we were there and could have stayed longer. The guides kept us all totally engaged in the talks, and the children particularly enjoyed the fire making demo and learning how to grind the wheat and make bread. The children also enjoyed reading the stones on the path on the way up to the settlement which made for interesting discussion as we walking. Cafe, reception and shop staff all friendly and efficient. I think we will be returning in the summer.

Had a great day here yesterday. Very friendly staff at the shop and cafe at the bottom and friendly and very knowledgeable staff at the top dressed up in iron age era clothes. Activities such as bread making we're lots of fun and very interesting for our 8 year old daughter and lots of fun learning to sling shot too. Highly recommended for the price of you're in the area.

A great place to visit to learn about the iron age. Some interesting artefacts, informative guides, great village with replica huts. You can try slingshots, sit by the fire, learn about the past A lovely walk around the grounds, barefoot walk, river, pugs, plants and woodland.
We finished in the cafe with drinks and some really tasty treats of Maltese rocky road, Mars crispy cake and a huge toasted teacake. Lovely staff in the cafe. A really good morning out and educational too.

I wanted to visit the Iron Age reenactment village at Castell Henllys as I had seen other attempts at experimental archaeology at other sites and wanted to compare notes!. 10 out of 10 all round for this site!. The roundhouses are brilliantly constructed and are incredibly structures inside and out!. I spent a very informative hour talking to John, one of the staff who works three days a week there, and who is a mine of Iron Age information!. Inspiring and fun sums up my visit!.

Utterly appalling experience. After booking a hotel specifically the night before to come here with our two young children we arrived to be told that they are closed until 2. We arrived at 10.45 so weren’t exactly going to wait the 3+ hours to wait for it to open. There was no mention of this on the website which I checked in the morning before leaving the hotel. The reason was due to one member of staff being off sick and because they had one school class there. It’s unbelievable that one staff sickness can cause a whole tourist attraction to close for the best part of the day. We had two very disappointed children, a waisted hotel night and travel there. The three staff sat by reception couldn’t have cared less. We have no opportunity to come back whilst here and to be honest after this experience I probably wouldn’t want to return either. What an absolute shambles and disappointment.

We really enjoyed our visit to this beautiful setting.
We went in the week the schools went back in September so it was lovely and quiet but we could see that it would a great place to take kids. The 2 volunteers were extremely knowledgeable and happy to talk about an interesting subject. Love the layout and enjoyed the sounds of the stream and birds, even the little sculptures were lovely.
We thought the price was spot on for what was there, we didn't use the cafe.
We'll smell of smoke for a while to add to the memories.
Good job guys.

The most amazing staff work here! When we arrived our family member who has mobility problems was immediately offered use of a mobility scooter which was much appreciated - it made the walk up to the village much easier!
Had a great chat with staff in the village itself who had great knowledge and let us have a go at slingshot so at the young age of 41, I can say I had a go! Their knowledge is second to none and they are happy to answer any questions at all.
Food in the cafe was lovely - we had a large order (there were 8 of us!) and it was all brought out at the same time so nobody was left waiting long while others were eating. Definitely worth going to see - it's great for kids, young and old(er)!

Started at the cafe which is highly recommended. Friendly helpful staff and good prices. There are some picnic tables but not enough. Particularly geared to children. Some steep paths so not suitable for all. Not a large site but quite interesting. Check times of demonstations.

We (6 people, age 18-28) had the best day out at Castell Henllys this week. There was storytelling, face painting, slingshotting, tours... loads going on. The local Celt, Morgan, was so engaging, funny, and knowledgeable. As a celtic bard born in the wrong century (millenium?), he was equally expert in entertaining the kids and the adults there that day. He had us laughing loads and it was one of the best days out this holiday! Thank you and good luck in your Master's!! :)

It's fine. There is a good road up to the houses and then it's all cut grass, providing your pram is OK with that?
