Truly superb and exciting experience. Mark the cookery school director an absolute delight.... knowledgeable, friendly and engaging. My sister and I felt so relaxed and at ease. An unforgettable, special experience. Lovely menu too. Enjoyed watching demos - as learnt a lot from them. Mesmerised. Thanks Mark and team. Would love to come back!

Incredibly underwhelming. My wife spent £230 on this course for me as a birthday present. We had no sight of the menu prior but when you arrive everyone is very pleasant and the kitchen is well set up. Unfortunately all you do is sit there for almost 4 hours to be lectured and to literally only do 10 minutes cooking. A disgrace. The only reason I am not giving this a terrible review is I thought Mark was a great teacher. The menu was unbelievably basic , required little to no skill. Veg soup , tomato salad, salmon with a cream sauce and souffle. For the money spent you would to expect to see / learn some very complex skill and hope you would be eating expesive ingredients. Utterly gutted and think that was the feeling in the whole room, everyone was just polite and lied saying they had a good time. Really expected better and really would like to hear an explanation why Le Manoir think this acceptable ???

I attended a Blanc Vite course in early July and the whole thing from booking to driving home at the end of the day was seamless.
I've been lucky enough to come for lunch at Le Manoir a few times now and the cookery school had been on my wishlist of things to do for a long old time.
Michael John was a wonderfully engaging tutor who decribed everything he was doing and many potential variations on the themes of what he showed us. There was a really good mix of watching and doing on the course and I left with a full tummy and plenty of inspiration.
Now I just need to work out which cookery course to try next :)

It was an hour and a half of listening before any cooking was started, and that wasn’t us but the tutor. Of the six dishes on the menu we got to cook two and a half. ( the half being the caramel of crème caramel; we didn’t get the opportunity to do the custard ) For 8 hours that just isn’t good enough for the price. I would have loved to have a go at the soufflé under supervision or other things - but no we had to watch.
On the positive side many useful tips and tricks but compared to what others experienced perhaps with other tutors, not good.

An outstanding day, great fun and a very good teacher. We were taught how to cook herbs and store them and how to buy and cook fish. As in most things there is more to this than initially meets the eye
Well worth the cost of the course.
The hotel is set in beautiful surroundings with very helpful staff.

Half a day course. Good experience. Knowledgeable and pleasant chef. Nice kitchen and atmosphere.
Areas for improvement:
- recipes printed on half A4 sheet. No space to take notes and instructions are rather brief. Chef didn’t quite follow all the instructions himself.
- demonstration area is too small and you can’t see what’s happening in the saucepan from where you sit. Given we only get to prepare one meal, I’d expect to be able to see everything.
- a lot of emphasis is made on good quality ingredients and extracting flavour, but I’m yet to find out whether it’s possible to achieve similar taste with cheaper ingredients.

Perfect experience with the RB team. I was overwhelmed to receive by a lovely friend this gift to go to the RB cookery school, as a thank you for cooking a dinner party. I’m a competent cook I like to think, with my best dishes focused around French fine dining. However after my cookery tuition with the Le Manior team I am so excited to push my cooking further now.
Dishes were well thought out and tuition and my fellow students just delightful.
I will return, particular nod to the salmon dish and sauce.

The place was amazing, all staff from the minute I arrived were amazing and the cooking course was amazing too. Thank you to all running these informative and friendly courses. A visit from RB and his subsequent demand for salmon was a great insight into how his chefs love him. I will definitely try all the dishes at home and look forward to returning to try the restaurant tasting menu and an overnight stay soon.

From arriving at the beautiful grounds of Le Manoir until the goodbyes the day was just wonderful. I attended the Maman Blanc Course a couple of days ago as a novice cook and this course has infused me with confidence to try and cook things that I would never had ever attempted.
I was fortunate to be in a group of 8 interesting and sociable people which in itself made the day enjoyable. We were so fortunate to be taught by Michael, the head tutor, who was brilliant. His demonstrations of the various courses were first class, made all the more enjoyable by the endless information and stories about the hotel, Raymond Blanc, his personal experiences and some wonderful funny stories. We were instructed and entertained. The cooking practical's were fun and, of course, we got to eat the fruits of our labour.
Michael gave us a tour of the grounds, which was quite illuminating both with the variety of items grown and the size of the estate.
An experience which has sparked me into trying some more adventurous cooking. Thank you.

Fantastic Experience
Michael John was an amazing and passionate individual. No question was left unanswered. We watched, copied and sat down to eat 5 separate dishes from poaching an egg to perfection, to making a pistou soup with fresh basil, crispy fried salmon in white wine sauce followed by sirloin steak in a red wine jus. Rounded off with îles flottantes. A perfect finish to a perfect day

You can see prices and the different courses available on their website. To get a weekend day you need to book well in advance and not every course is available on every day of the week.
