‪A gem in West Suffolk's crown‬

‪The food was fantastic, great tasting and presented beautifully. We appreciated the way in which we were looked after by the really brilliant team, who were more than accommodating, as well as ultimately professional and whose customer care was amongst the best we have experienced in many years.
We fully appreciated that the Hospitality industry has and is under great pressure from staff shortages, but Wyken Vineyards seem to have come through that dark time and come out of it with a great team.
The shopping experience afterwards was also a really bonus, with a really lovely shop Manager.
We will be back, and with many more people.‬

‪I visit Wyken every Saturday I am home for the market. Local produce and local businesses gather at Wyken on a Saturday to sell their goods. It is a lovely morning trip!
I have also eaten in the restaurant many times and never been disappointed with the food. The service is also always perfect.

‪Had breakfast which was delicious, strolled round the Saturday market which was excellent. This is a great place to visit and would highly recommend it.‬

‪Wyken revisited‬

‪Visited Wyken for the first time in years, it used to be a favourite. Now that we have reason to be back in the area, happy to say food and service are both still first rate. Added bonus is popping into the shop to pick up a bottle of their own wine to enjoy at home.‬

‪Beautiful gardens‬

‪Wyken was a lovely place to visit and we were very lucky with the weather. The Leaping Hare country store has lots of lovely things to buy for interiors and the building is beautiful too.
Our main reason to go was to visit the gardens and they didn’t disappoint. Lots of places to sit and admire the views and planting.
We had coffee and cake from the takeaway cafe and it was reasonably priced. We found the staff friendly and polite. If you want a more substantial meal in the restaurant it would be advisable to book. ‬

‪I live in New York and have been stuck abroad for 18 months due to COVID but wanted to arrange a birthday lunch for my mothers who lives in Suffolk.

After making a reservation and contacting the team, Wyken Vineyards really went above and beyond to accommodate me and were so kind in creating a bespoke menu and even taking my payment for the meal and a crate of wine over the telephone ahead of the meal.

My mother and father had such a wonderful time and were so blown away. The menu sounded delicious and they commented on the beauty of the restaurant and grounds that the team was so kind and lovely.

Both my sister and I have been abroad during COVID and my parents have been unable to see any of their immediate family. Moments and experiences like this mean a lot to me and I'm so thankful to the team for being so accommodating and making it work and happen.

Truly a brilliant, special place and team. Thank you!‬

‪Visited this week,took a relative from Cornwall ,not knowing we couldn’t get lunch in the cafe ,only option pizza and tea in paper cups and sitting outside in the wind,having to order drinks in one area then getting pizza in another,all took along time,then told they don’t take cash(no sign anywhere) Pizza was ok but nothing special and smaller than the large box suggests.The sun came out and saved the day but all in all a long drawn out process that needs better organisation.I won’t be rushing back.‬

‪Lovely place, awful snooty owner‬

‪I have been visiting Wyken for years and I have always received excellent service from the friendly staff. However, I happened across the owner for the first time in almost a decade of lunching at Wyken - a snooty old fellow who is very rude. Unfortunately I won’t be returning to his establishment- it’s a shame because the staff are brilliant and the food is great. Such a shame that the owner goes round undoing their hard work. I would have recommended Wyken but with the owner skulking around bellowing orders at people I wouldn’t bother.‬

‪Would love to have a meal there - I could then write a review about the food!!!!!

My elderly cousin (90) really loves the place and she has been looking forward to revisiting the Leaping Hare for some time.

I tried to book a table yesterday and tried to make a reservation via their website only to find that they appeared to be fully booked for a couple of months. I then tried to phone and got caught up in their automated voicemail system. I repeatedly tried to hit the button for Option 3 (bookings) but it just kept taking me back to the start and replayed the same options.

Not prepared to give up easily, I sent them an email, which came back via an auto response informing me that they would not accept bookings by email and suggested that I phone them for a table??????

Trying the phone again, I had the same problem and out of desperation, I hit a different button and somebody actually answered. Unless I wanted to order pizzas (not for a 90 year old thank you) the soonest they could accommodate me was 16 July. Happy with this, I made the booking.

The operative asked for my email address so that she could confirm the booking. I tried to give her this phonetically to avoid any mistakes but she could not check this being mildly dyslexic.

I made the booking 24-hours ago and have received no email so I'm really not sure if I've got a booking or not (hopefully she took the address down correctly).

I run a small independent retail business and am aware how tough things have been for retailers and certainly the hospitality sector over the last year or so and I ALWAYS support local business wherever possible. But it's a two-way thing; places like this have had months to gear up for trading again and my concern is that if you can't make a hassle-free booking, what chance have you got of getting and enjoying a decent meal?

I guess the question really is - do they actually want the business??‬
