Parked in car park next to a farm and walked down a path towards the sea, about half a mile. We did not venture down to the castle as it's on a rocky outcrop which we didn't want to tackle. However, it was still worth the visit as the position of the castle and the coastal views were impressive. Free to visit.

A little off the beaten track but well worth a visit.
Anyone with mobility issues will have problems accessing the castle as it’s down a very steep slope with no real path other than one worn away by other visitors.
Fun to scramble around inside the ruins but the sheer drops are definitely something to be aware of if you have small kids.

The path between Cullen and Findlater Castle is perfect at this time of the year (March) as the tall bracken has died off and flattened.
The path crosses the breeding grounds of the famous Cullen Skink, an elusive creature that is one of the ingredients of the famous soup. Little is known about this small secretive creature outside Cullen and no photographs exist.

The walk down is horrible and nearly killed me. (Disappointed it didn’t) it’s very cold and wet and tbh I only got to see one room (which are small) and a ghost. My family are very please to say you do get good 4G.
To make matters worse I didn’t fall and die Very upset.

Only getting 1 star for the sake of cell service. nearly bloody broke my neck and unalived myself a few times. not worth it as all myself and my family got from it was vertigo, near enough death and an asthma attack all to see 2 rooms. Not happy, would not recommend. Needs some safety precautions added to it.

The Findlater Castle walk from Cullen is my favourite walk in the Moray area. The scenery is simply stunning, no words I have can adequately describe it and no photos I take can adequately do it any justice. You simply have to experience it for yourself.
Parking is ample in the area either at the large carpark just off the harbour or in the town itself, it being a short walk to the start.
The walk is about 3 miles in total from the carpark at Cullen through to the castle, the path starts out very well founded indeed. Wheelchair/buggy accessible for a good distance allowing stunning scenery right up to Port Long Bay.
There are some benches for a rest or a picnic, shortly after this bay however the path becomes a lot more challenging under foot. Single track in places with rough terrain to navigate; however it is well established so you can’t get lost!
Pushing on through this stunning coastal countryside however is worth it every step! The path down to the castle itself is quite steep also, be careful out on the castle itself as some sheer drops exist.
Take some time here as the bays and views you will have experienced to get here will have been breathtaking.
I always do an out and back walk so I can experience it twice which makes it a 6 mile round trip. I always call in at the Rock Pool cafe after for a coffee and cake. A perfect day.

Travelled by car from Keith to Cullen on a beautiful sunny December day. Parked near Linda's fish and chips shop (its the best). Walked the coastal path to the caravan park then over fields. Different perspective. Easy walking. Great views from Nelson seat and all the way along to the castle. Small car park by a farm. No facilities.

This was a great stop! If you visit the Bow Fiddle Rock then I would suggest you visit here too. When it's been raining its a bit tricky to get down to the castle so be careful! Beautiful views from the edge of the cliff and fun to enter the ruins! It's a 15/20 minute walk from the carpark.

We walked from Cullen to and from Findlater castle via the coastal path. Lovely sunny and clear day and very enjoyable walk although challenging in parts for a couple of 70+ ladies. Path was steep and a bit slippy in places - would recommend walking poles or at least one if you have them. We thought that the castle was well worth a visit with spectacular views. An easier way to approach Findlater castle is from the car park although we, personally, would not have wanted to miss the coastal walk.

A short walk from the car park takes you to a viewpoint and a path winding down to a breathtaking castle perched on a promentary. Several undercrofts with barrel vaulting and a twin stair tower make this a very interesting and exciting castle to visit.
