Highland tours went above and beyond for our day trip to Somoto Canyon! Arranging the trip was easy and straightforward and the trek was one of my favorite parts of my trip! Ben and Jerry were fantastic and are clearly very passionate about introducing tourists to the northern areas of Nicaragua- they taught us a lot about the Somoto and the surrounding areas while we drove to the canyon. Ben and Jerry are so much fun and were available to answer any and all questions from our group. I highly recommend Highland Tours to anyone traveling in the north and can’t wait to come back again!

The guys at Highland tours managed to set up a tour for the two of us in basically no time at all. With to days notice we went on a tour to Somoto Canyon and Miraflor which was really great. Somoto is just awesome. Due to sickness (had nothing to do whatsoever with the tour), our guide Jerry made some quick adjustments to the Miraflor trip so that it suited us better. And we had a lot of great conversations as well! To Ben, Jerry and our drivers Axel and Lino - Thanks! We highly recommend these guys!

My family and I reached out to Highland Tours about putting a 6 day tour together of the highlands. From the first communication with Benjamin to the ride to the Airport at the end, the professionalism and genuine concern we were happy never wavered. Benjamin ,and his driver picked us up in a very nice clean van and while we were making the 4 hrs drive to Esteli, he asked what we had all done in the first 10 days in Nicaragua. After giving him a quick breakdown on some day tours we had done he was surprised we had missed some highlights and he immediately made a detour to show us some sights that they were both excited to share. This was just one example on how above and beyond Highland Tours went for our family. From walking us to our room, staying in contact via Whats App and after the first day recommending changes that better suited our family, the team from Highland made this trip a truly wonderful experience.
Marcel our tour guide for the week might be the kindest person we have had the pleasure of meeting in all our travels. His knowledge and botanical expertise of the area,was only ever overshadowed by his love of the highland region and its people. Waterfalls, canyons , swimming , unlimited viewpoints, jungle walks, and eco farms. Meeting Alberto and having coffee with a farmer after learning how his cooperative operates were just some of the highlights. Our complete lack of Spanish was never a issue as Marcel made sure we had time to learn and patiently translated all of our questions.
Nicaragua's beaches will forever call our family back, but spending time in the highlands was something we will never forget. We are so glad we were lucky enough to have Highland Tours organize our week for us. Thank you Ben and Marcel

Nous avons visité le Canyon de Somoto en partant d’Esteli. Nous avons trouvé l’agence un peu par hasard et sans regrets. Benjamin nous a bien conseillé le lendemain on est venu nous chercher à l’hôtel. Très avenant avec chacun. Parle un anglais parfait. Somoto vaut la peine très très joli. Une grosse partie a nager ou sur une bouée sur la rivière. Repas inclus dans un petit resto typique. On terminera par la visite d’une biscuiterie.

My wife and I took part in two tours with Highland Tours while in Nicaragua. The first tour was of the Somoto canyon and the second of Miraflor.
Michelle was very helpful in recommending the tours and arranging everything. The tours were well planned. The bilingual guide and driver picked us up from our hotel every morning and did an excellent job of accommodating our needs and wants in regards to the tour.
We enjoyed the tours, the service was excellent and would highly recommend them.

We only spent two days in Esteli but one extraordinary experience was taking the Esteli walking tour offered by Highland Tours! Ben, our guide, shared his wealth of knowledge about local Esteli history, politics, and culture. For me, the highlight was the tour focusing on local art work (e.g. Murals, corn husk paintings), and Ben conveyed that universal message that art reflects the heart of the people. If you want to experience a heartfelt tour of Esteli, please use Highland Tours!

I coordinate international surgical brigades and my most recent group of volunteers wanted to do a local tour to get to know some of the country. We were lucky enough to schedule the Miraflor tour with Highland. My volunteers spent the next week in country saying the most amazing things about their experience and would not stop talking about it. They had such a great time, the guides were Extremely knowledgable, kind and experienced. Michelle was extremely responsive to all communication. They were very flexible with our schedule and able to work around our schedule in the hospital. Everything about this experience was wonderful.
I HIGHLY recommend everyone to do a tour with this company, you will not be disappointed at all.

Three of us in Esteli on a business trip took the Miraflor Tour on May 28. It was a great day! Our guide, Benjamin, and driver, Juan Carlos, were great. They not only told us a lot about where we visited, but readily answered other questions we had, gave us Esteli restaurant suggestions & were just enjoyable to spend the day with. We wished we had specified a longer hike, but that was our fault. I definitely recommend this company and this tour. Just a note of caution--the distance traveled from Esteli isn't that far, but it takes a long time due to road conditions.

We recently went on a group tour to Esteli for the first time and chose them for our City Tour. We found it to be very informative and their bilingual guides know the city inside and out. Michelle and her crew were very accommodating and even helped us set up a group luncheon with a local restaurant. Definitely recommend if your travels take you to Esteli.

Enjoyed a short 2-hour tour of Estelí and its environs. Informative, relaxing, and interesting. Would recommend it to first time visitors.
