‪Telica day tour‬

‪We did the 24h tour to Telica with Henrique and Angel from Sonati. It was a really nice tour to the volcan and the cave. Henrique is a really nice guide, he really likes the nature and explained us a lot of things on the way. Even if we could not had our camp fire (because of the rain) he took care of us at the evening !
I recommend this trip and people from Sonati are so nice !!!
Plus, your money is gonna be used to help children education !

‪Wonderful walks with an excellent guide‬

‪We did 2 walks with Sonati guide Leijser: in Miraflor and Serro Tisey. Both were very different and wonderful. The visit to sculptor Don Alberto was memorable.
Sonati and Leijser are helpful, punctual, informative and well organised.
We would not recommend staying the night at a homestay in one of the parks as we did. For our european standards this is beyond basic.
The walks with Leijser were the highlights of our 3 weeks stay in Nicaragua. ‬

‪Disappointing‬

‪The hostel is excellent, the tours not so, we did 2 tours and they were both overpriced and both didn't follow the itinerary we were promised, we should have done a lot more hiking, 12 km an 14 km were stated in fact we did less than 5 or 6 on both and there was a lot of waiting around, the area are nice and we wanted to see a lot more than we did‬

‪Somoto Canyon Tour, pricey but a wonderful way to spend a day‬

‪This tour was the highlight of our family's trip. It was a 2 hour bus ride from Esteli and the tour took several hours, so plan on this taking your day. We got back to Esteli in time to enjoy a meal and fall into bed. I thought it was a bit expensive for Nicaragua, but would still recommend it. A few tips... Be prepared for lots of careful walking on rocks since the water is low right now, and wear sunblock on the back of your neck because you will spend so much time looking at your feet. It was a lot of walking, so I wouldn't recommend for young children or anyone not in pretty good shape. My sons loved jumping off the cliffs. Our guides were two wonderful young people and we enjoyed getting to know them. I was thankful my sons speak Spanish because our guides did not speak English. The water is lovely and the views are beautiful. I was a bit concerned when our guide invited us into his home to change into our swim suits and then told us to leave our things with him and he would get them to us at the end of the tour. But we received everything in perfect condition. At the end of the tour we had a delicious meal in another local family's home. All in all, even with the long bus ride back and forth to Esteli, it was a wonderful day.‬

‪Cigare tour‬

‪I did the cigare tour with them for 10$. The guide was speaking very well english and knew a lot about the tobaco and cigares.

It was interesting and we got the chance to roll our own cigare.

If you speak spanish you can visit the Santiagio factory on your own if you like.‬

‪Tours are self-organized‬

‪I did a trip to the Somoto Canyon with Sonati in Esteli. The hostel advertises this tour but actually they do nothing for you except call the guide company in Somoto. You have to take the local chicken bus on your own from Esteli to the town of Somoto where you are met by the local guide. Given the distance between Esteli and Somoto (at least 2 hours), if I had known that Sonati wasn't actually leading the tours, I would have just gone myself to Somoto the night before to save travelling time.‬

We work closely with the Somoto community, providing environmental education and training locals from the Somoto community as guides. That way we are sure you will get a great guide who will provide a fun and, most importantly, safe trip. Many people prefer this service as it allows them to do Somoto canyon in one day, which is difficult without pre-booking a tour. If you have more time, then it is easy to visit Somoto canyon without booking in advance, but there are many guides offering their service, and the quality is variable. ‪Exelent guides and good value ‬

‪My girl friend and I did 2 tours threw sonati .city tour and tisey tour. It was really informative and we learnt so much about the local areas history and nature.
I would highly recommend doing a tour threw them as they a organization that helps educate young people about nature and the need to conserve.
Thanks for the exelent tour. ‬

‪We did the tisey tour aranged by the sonati hostel. We did the tour on wednesdays and apparently there are other bus hours that day. That was the reason it was a bit messy to travel. Our guide, Uriel, was a great guide. It seems like he just was enjoying the tour himself. We first made a hiking trip to Alberto Gutiérrez, a stone sculpturist. He is a bit crazy, but very kind. We ate some of his local fruits and saw his wonderfull garden. After that we went to a small village called la garancha, where we had lunch. In the afternoon we made a tour in the village to see its goats, cheese and organic gardens.‬

‪Wonderful trip to Miraflor‬

‪I went with Sonati Tours to the Miraflor reserve. Our guide was incredible. In fact he grew up in Miraflor, so his knowledge of the area was the definition of intimate. He explained the local flora and fauna in great and interesting detail, definitely more than just a "path guide". And he spoke excellent English, which was great for those in our group who's Spanish wasn't so great.

It was also really great to know that the money from our tour went to Sonati's local free environmental education programs for children. Almost wish the tour cost more! Since, it was such a low price to begin with!

Don't hesitate to book a tour with Sonati while you're in Esteli, you won't regret it!‬
