We drove around Lake Hibara. The surrounding trees were beautiful with autumn colors. The color of the lake and the autumn colors of the mountains are beautiful. I went around the lake and it's pretty wide. It was nice to enjoy the view while going around this lake leisurely. Lake Hibara felt quite cold. I think I will be able to catch smelt from now on.

The eruption of Mount Bandai created Goshiki Marsh and numerous other lakes on the north side of Mount Bandai, which is called Ura Bandai. The largest of those lakes is Lake Hibara.
We entered Ura-bandai from Aizu-Wakamatsu via Bandaisan Gold Line. It wasn't long before I saw Lake Hibara, so I parked my car in the parking lot on the shore of the lake and walked around. Motorboats and sightseeing boats also operate from the lake shore, and water sports can be enjoyed.
We stayed at a resort hotel near the shore of Lake Hibara and also walked around Goshikinuma Nature Sightseeing Route and Rengeuma Nature Sightseeing Route. It was a lovely place to take a leisurely dip in the lakeside nature.

Driving around Lake Hibara, the scenery is very beautiful. The combination of the colors of the autumn leaves, the imposing presence of Mt. Bandai, and the blue of Lake Hibara is truly beautiful. You can see many different things as you drive around. The small island in the lake is also very cute. Lake Hibara presents a beautiful sight.

The eruption of Mt. Bandai created many lakes and swamps in the surrounding area, including Goshiki-numa.
Among them, Lake Hibara is the largest with beautiful islands (it is the largest lake in Urabandai, with a circumference of about 31km).
Although it was still too early for the leaves to change color, I enjoyed the scenery along the shore while driving along Lake Hibara.
Lake Hibara was very large and beautiful.
By the way, there was a ramen shop along Lake Hibara, and even though it was a weekday, there were a lot of people in the parking lot in front of the store.
There were so many people waiting that I wondered what was going on.
I later found out that it was Okuurabandai Ramen-ya, a popular restaurant that serves Aizu Yamashio ramen. I would like to try Yamashio ramen at this ramen shop someday.
By the way, Yamashio is made by boiling down the hot spring water from Oshio Urabandai Onsen in the Oshio district of Kitashiobara village in Urabandai.

桧原湖は裏磐梯最大の湖。そのの東岸に沿って設けられた桧原湖探勝路をトレッキングした。明治時代に山体崩壊を起こした磐梯山、裏磐梯はその痕跡が残る地形が複雑な地形を作り出している。特に磐梯山の噴火で誕生したという中瀬沼の眺めは噴火の凄まじさを目の当たりにできる。入り組んだ湖岸線には小さな島が点在し、一番深く入り組んだ「いかり潟」には吊橋がかかる。紅葉は期待したほどではなかったが、初級コースということもあり、のんびりとトレッキングを楽しんだ。

雄大な湖。観光船から観る磐梯山は、絶景です。湖上は、陸地に比べるとかなり涼しいですよ。釣りをしている方も多く、湖水も澄んでいてきれいでした

裏磐梯にはたくさんの湖と沼があります。
桧原湖は、宿泊したレイクリゾートから見えました。
五色の森の露天風呂から木立を通してみることができます。
遊覧船やボートもあるようですが、トップシーズン以外は閑散としている雰囲気です。
個人的には、ボートに乗るなら毘沙門沼が好きです。

車で湖畔を一周しましたが、木が繁っている場所が多く、湖が見える場所は思ったより少なかったです。磐梯山も湖畔からはほとんど見えませんでした。
手漕ぎボートが何艘か出ていて、釣りやキャンプはできるようですが、夏休み前で遊覧船が運休していてほとんどレジャーができなかったのが残念でした。

無料駐車場に車を停めて見学しました。

磐梯山から五色沼に車でいく途中、大きな湖が近くに現れたので、駐車場に車を停めて鑑賞しました。遊覧船などの船が何艘かありましたが天気が良く無かったので利用されている感じは無く寂れて見えました。晴れていると良い景色かもです。

My friend and I are interested to go smelt fishing in Feb but only my friend is into trying. Through my research, half day course varies from 5000-6000 yen for a half day course and there will be a snowmobile transferring us to the fishing location. Will the fee for this transport be paid separately? Is it possible if I just visit the place without fishing? If not possible I might need to skip visiting this spot :(
