‪Good atmosphere, clean. Only you have to shell out money 100 for normal darshan and 250 for abhisheka. You need to walk a lot in star shape walking path before reaching the temple. Handicapped separate arrangement is there.‬

‪Vellore's highlight...easily one can reach the temple from vellore in 30minutes...crowded at times...many ticket options...250rs and 500rs ticket we are given some time to sit and offer prayers close to the diety...very neatly maintained...crowd as usual is not smoothly maintained during peak seasons...‬

‪The Golden temple can be reached by travelling by train to Katpadi Junction or taking a bus to Vellore from Tirupati, Bengaluru, Chennai etc. If you reach Katpadi, you will find autos and old Ambassador taxis outside the station. The distance to the temple is under 20 km. If you reach Vellore, the distance is only 10 km. You can easily catch an auto or even a bus from the New Bus station at Vellore.

Cloak rooms are available at the entrance to the temple where you can deposit your luggage and phones at Rs.2/- per unit. They did not insist on locking everything. Phones and cameras are strictly No No. Else a big fine will be confiscated later. Footwear can be deposited at another counter again for Rs.2/- per person. You will find both these counters on the right side as soon as you enter the temple entrance.

Even before you soak in the environment, you will be heckled by a temple guy asking you to buy your tickets. Free darshan is available but only 4 intervals of 15 min each a day. So if we do not reach at that slots, you will have to purchase a darshan ticket starting from 100/- to 1000/- even if there is no one in the queue line. Now for the temple details:

The temple is located in an 100 acre plot. The route to the temple is designed in the form of a star and you will have to travel roughly around 2 km before you can reach the main Lakshmi Narayani temple. Many flower plants have been planted all over. Seven arches (representing the seven doors) lead the way to the temple but pilgrims are not allowed. We have to follow a roof covered path all around the temple. The main portion of the temple is completely covered in gold. The temple itself is surrounded by water.

Free water is available only at 2 locations whereas bottled water, Tea/Coffee and small canteens are positioned at strategic locations. Photographs, donation centres, Prasad etc are also located on the star walkways.

After walking a few hundred feet, you will find the 1700 Kg Silver idol of Ganapati. Then after a long walk, you reach the main deity. The queue system is not that good at this point. Enough security were not posted to control the lines. The higher paid ticket holders come in the opposite path which is shorter and join the queue here. After another 50 feet you will find the 700 Kg golden deity or Swarna Lakshmi. Females are allowed without hiccups. But all males have to be naked from waist up. Even banians are not allowed. All the devotees enter the small temple from the left, pour some water on the idol as form of abhishekam and then move behind the status to the exit on the right. The final path to the exit is in the form of small detours into a few stalls selling various items.

The best time to visit the temple is at 4 pm. After the darshan you can wait a little till the lights are switched on. The glittering Golden Temple is a feast to the eyes. The majestic view should not be missed. Thankfully the baggage and footwear delivery is quite fast unlike in Tirupati and other such temples. Prasad was not given anywhere.‬

‪Well built temple and well maintained too. Couldn't take pics because they deposited the phone.

Local buses were free for women in September 2021. They stop by old temple. Therefore, one needs to cross the street to see the new temple.

At the entrance, we are required to deposit both the phone and the footwears (bring a polybag for that or buy one at the temple).
At the entrance, two options (paid and unpaid) are available to take the route to see the temple. Please check with the helpdesk.

Place is full of flowers, trees and shrubs. There are birds too. Prominent flowers in September 2021 were yellows of Allamanda & Cosmos.
One can see several varieties of palm trees as well. The hills on the western side gave a very picturesque look to the temple.

The main Darshan could be a disappointment as they did not allow people to stand there more than 2 seconds.

Don't miss the pictures of foreigners doing poojas. So many of them have come here. Overall - a great walk, great many trees and a nicely built temple for tourists, devotees & families to spend a good time.‬

‪Beautiful Mahalaxmi temple. This place has enough facilities such as parking, rest room. All in good condition. Ones entrance ticket is purchased you can start walking. It can take up to 30min. But all the way they have water and place to sit, so elderly ones can walk slow. A good 1 hour is needed in this temple on a normal less crowded days.‬

‪A surprisingly huge temple complex. And a very beautiful and neatly maintained place. One has to walk a very long distance, about 500 M, to reach the central temple dome. ‬
