A very nice temple dedicated to Lord Balram - if you are lucky enough to visit when it is open. This is one of those tricky temples where you do not know when it will be open and when it will close. We went one evening and the door leading to the inside the temple was closed. So we explored the outside architecture. We were asked to wait for about an hour. Since we did not have time, we left and came back the next morning - early, hoping it would be open. We were lucky, 5 minutes after we entered, the curtain to the inner sanctum sanctorum was closed and you could no longer see the idol. The priest explained this was part of the mystery of the temple. No one is sure who will be able to see and who won't. Nonetheless, the architecture itself is quite amazing. A nice temple to visit if you have the time to spare.
3 stars only because of the uncertainty of timings.

Baldeoji temple -Panna
The famous Baldeoji temple of panna was built in samvat 1933 by Naresh Rudra Pratap Singh Bundela. It is dedicated to Baldeo the elder brother of Lord Shri Krishna.
It's a beautiful architectural fusion of East and West. It looks like a huge cathedral from outside and temple from inside.
It is considered as a replica of St. Paul's cathedral in London. It was constructed under the guidance of an Italian expert Mr. Manly.
It is based on the theme of solah kala of Lord Shri Krishna. Everthing in the temple is in a numeral of sixteen. Entrance has sixteen staircases. There are sixteen windows, sixteen doors, sixteen huge pillars, sixteen dombs.
Interestingly the sum of 1933 i.e. the year in which the temple was built is also sixteen. The roof of temple has 108 pinnacles made of stone and beautifully carved, which represents one mala.
All windows and alternate doors are made up of single slab of stone. Which has got intricate carving and gives the illusion of wood.
It has a plaster of kudi ka chune (lime stone), gud (jaggaery), gonde (gum) and dal (pulses).
The idol of baldau is made up of single black Shaligrami shila (stone). It's a very beautiful and lively idol.
A very remarkable thing about temple is that the image is placed on a raised platform to offer unhindered view even from a distance.
It is said that if someonepasses through the temple wether sitting on elephant, horse or on foot can get the view of idol of baldau from outside also without entering the temple premises.
It's a beautiful example of architetural advancement we achieved way back.

This temple is unique in that it is fashioned after St. Paul's cathedral in London. One of the local rulers of Panna had once travelled to England and really liked the Cathedral building and decided to replicate it in Panna. It is quiet, and some worshippers can be seen only early morning and during the evening prayer tie.
