‪For Ganesh devotees, the Ashtavinayak is a must do trip, but sadly the Maharashtra government and local population try their best to ruin your experience. Siddhatek is a great example of this.

Siddhatek is situated at the banks of the Bhima river. It has a great riverfront which makes for fabulous views. But when you go near the river, you will find people washing their clothes and vessels, fishing vessels depositing their harvest haphazardly, nirmalya and all kinds of litter floating in the water. You won't feel like visiting the river bank or take the boat ride which is available.

The temple itself is good and you will enjoy moment of peace in front of the lord. There is a 1 km parikrama route which you can take. There are innumerable stalls selling sugarcane juice, etc. The sound of the juice centers is almost deafening. But the fresh sugarcane juice tastes heavenly.

Here is a tip. There are many food stalls, but the best way to get a good meal if you land up during lunch time is to ask the locals. Check with the shops selling pooja material if they would entertain guests for a meal. You will get homely, tasty fare for a decent price.

The worst thing about the trip is the terrible condition of the roads. It is a mystery why the government is so negligent about this. Especially travelling through the city of Daund is an absolute nightmare. No wonder Maharashtra has so little tourist footfall.‬

‪Visited temple recently on Maha Shivratri. It took approximately 2+ hours from Moregoan to Siddhatek as the road is not very good esp from Daund. Situated next to river is very relaxing. Please carry food along as you would not many options.
Direct from Pune is approximately 100+ km and hence recommend to leave as early as possible to have All 4 covered on same day. There are very few steps and hence may be an issue with someone who cannot climb any steps.‬

‪Recently visited the temple on the day of Maha Shivratri. It took approximately 2+ hours from Moregoan as roads were not very good esp from Daund till temple. I recommend to carry food as there are not many good places to eat enroute. It was easy access to the temple with no rush. There are very few steps so might be an issue for someone unless can climb couple of stairs. It is 100+ km straight to Pune‬

‪Even though far from the city of Pune, Shri Siddhivinayak Temple at Siddhatek is a place to feel blessed at. Thumbs up to the authorities, who have taken special care to keep the temple clean. Even though, the bridge is being strengthened now. We did have to walk a stretch. Yet, it was amazing to see, how people walked across the river to get a glimpse of Lord Ganesha. A lovely experience.‬

‪This is a temple which is right across a river and the temple has a speciality that one can circumambulate the temple from inside and has to be done from outside,i.e circumambulating the Hillock. Very close to the temple is another small hillock, where there is temple tower visible, but one cannot visit the temple, as it is believed that Lord Vishnu meditates in the temple and is not to be disturbed and hence the temple does not have any entrances.‬

‪The second Ganapati on the Ashtavinayak circuit is Siddhivinayak at Siddhatek. Situated in Ahmednagar district, it is a small, picturesque temple on the banks of the River Bhima.

Legend has it that, Vishnu fought the demons, Madhu and Kaitabha for over 5000 years but was not able to vanquish them. Shiva reminded him that this was because he had not invoked Ganpati. Vishnu prayed to Ganpati and attained siddhi, which enabled him defeat the demons at this place. The original temple is stated to have been built by Vishnu Himself, but the structure as we see today was built by Ahilyabai Holkar in the 18th century.

Reasonable crowds and one can have a darshan quickly and if time permits stay for the aarti too.

The special feature of the idol is that, Siddhivinayak is the only Ashtavinayak whose trunk bends to the right. One can do a prathakshana outside the temple on an uneven but interesting path with small stalls, domestic animals tied up and even some small dwellings. Midway through this path, we get a view of the connecting bridge and the Bhima flowing lazily below.

‪This is the only murti of these eight (Ashtavinayaka) with the trunk positioned to the right..It is believed that the two saints Shri Morya Gosavi and Shri Narayan Maharaj of Kedgaon received their enlightenment here. The temple is North-facing and is on a small hillock.‬

‪This place is calm, serene and godly. The moment you enter here you feel closer to god. .The inner sanctum remains a bit crowded as people want to catch a glimpse of the idol. .
Thousands of people visit daily to remember god.
An advice it remains too crowded in Tuesday and Thursday. ‬
