‪Beautiful and scenic place.A must visit if you are approaching Mahabaleshwar from Satara side. The water was less in Dec but I can imagine how beautiful this can be during monsoon times.‬

‪When we went to Kaas Pathar we took a detour and visited this place. There is an entry ticket for this (only cash) but it is worth it. There are walkways in this natural place to move around and see different waterfalls. Visit during monsoon to have a fantastic view. There is big waterfall and a few small ones and each has its own character. There is a restroom here and the place is being looked after and maintained well by the forest department.‬

‪Visited for a short time. The waterfall was way beyond our expectation. Its majestic and just in the backyard of Satara. It's only 5 km from Sajjangad fort. Very well maintained. Safe and accessible. But visit only during day time. It's in deep jungle and pretty lonely. So ensure to leave the place before dark although nothing untoward has been reported.
A must visit in Monsoon ‬

‪It's a good place to go . Not a very big waterfall as such. U can't enter the pond below it but its serene and nice. Would not recommend to go specially in case u are not a fan of waterfalls as such.

TIP : it's a decent walkway down with lot of stairs to reach the waterhole. So elders avoidable.

‪A must visit place during or after monsoon. The big waterfalls are so mesmerizing. search for thosegar waterfall parking on google maps and you will reach here. you will have to pay entry fees to forest department. after visiting these you can go to windmill farms hardly 2 3 kms from this place, but in monsoons most of the times this road is very foggy and visibility is not even 5 meters so drive carefully.‬

‪I was on a one day Satara sightseeing trip from Pune on 15th Nov 2019.

Following was my itinerary:

1. Kaas pathar

2. Thoseghar waterfall

3. Sajjangadh

After completing my Kaas visit, I drove by car to Thoseghar.

A) Distances

i) Pune to Satara - 105 km (2 toll post on this route)
1st at Khedshivapur. Rs.95 one way & Rs.145 two way.
2nd at 15 km before Satara. Rs.70 one way & Rs.95 two way.

ii) Satara to Thoseghar - 28 km

Via Kaas

i) Satara to Kaas - 25 km

ii) Kaas to Thoseghar - 44 km

B) Directions

On reaching Satara junction, take local's help to drive thru outskirt road to avoid going thru crowded Satara city.

C) Timings
8 am to 6 pm

D) Entry Fee
Rs.30 per person

E) Parking
There is ample parking space in front of the main entrance.
No body collected any parking fee during my visit.
May be during monsoon season they will charge

F) Change Room
Available immediately after entering the gate on right side

G) Toilet Facility For Gents & Ladies
It is available immediately after entering the gate on left side. I have attached it's photo.

H) Map
Available before the entrance gate on left side. I have attached it's photo in this review. It is friendly user.

I) Food Restaurant
It is available at the entrance gate near parking area.
On route from Satara to Thoseghar there are hotels & restaurants.

J) Satara To Thoseghar Route
Compared to Kaas to Satara route this Satara to Thoseghar route is less scenic.
Sajjangadh is located on this route. Immediately after crossing Sajjangadh boundary, there is a view point, it provides excellent view of Dam. This is the best view point on this route whereas on Kaas to Satara route there are plenty of best view points.

K) On The Thoseghar Waterfalls

After entering the gate follow tiled road with signs first to big waterfall on left side & then to two small waterfalls on right side. The sign board are written in Marathi language.

The tiled road to the big tall waterfall will lead you to a gallery for viewing 180 plus degree view, waterfalls & valley in front.

Gallery is the scenic spot of this place. I have attached few photographs of this gallery and also photos of views from this gallery.

After spending time at big waterfall, you proceed thru tiled road to small waterfall that is little down stair. It is a small & wide water fall with high sound. The route to small waterfall has board which has names written of those persons who died here.
That's why small waterfall is fenced so as to prevent entry of people.
If you go very near to fence, you will get wet. I have attached photo of this waterfall.

After watching small waterfall, follow tiled road to one more waterfall thru small bridge on the canal. This waterfall is also fenced to prevent entry of people. I have attached photo of this waterfall.

Tiled road has benches at few locations to sit & relax. Tiled road has good amount of trees all around. Tiled road are well maintained. I have attached photos of tiled road.

Minimum 30 minutes & maximum 1 hour is more than enough to visit this place at your leisure without any rush or hurry.

L) Photos
No restriction on photos.
I have attached photos with appropriate tag for ease of understanding.
Please see the photos in my review for virtual tour of Thoseghar waterfalls.

I was uncertain whether I will get to see waterfalls in November month. On reaching the entry gate I inquired with the ticket staff, who said waterfalls are there so felt glad.

Even though ideal time to visit this place is monsoon to see waterfalls at full flow, now also it is worth to visit if you are looking for one day trip covering sightseeing places mentioned at the start of this review.

Surely I will recommend this place for waterfall lovers.‬

‪We visited Satara recently to go to Kaas Pathar and decided to add this place too in our itinerary after reading reviews.

We drove by car.

Situated at about 26-30 kms and 50-60 minutes away from Satara, the drive is very scenic...the lush green deccan plateau on one side and green rocky terrain on the other. Trees and various flowering plants abound. We stop at a windmill farm enroute, my first visit upclose to one and then drive along....

Roads are lovely and the sights gladden one's heart. Even if your destination was nowhere the drive makes it worthile. Finally the destination arrives,we almost miss it and go 2 kms ahead to stop at nowhere...a moment when we are the only living beings in the middle of serene paradise it feels like...a rare moment of unparallelled JOY

We drive back and stop our car at the parking lot and walk up to the entry gate. Entry is Rs 30 per head and inside near the gate there are toilets and changing rooms. A small path leads to a stairway with railings and we soon arrive at a viewing gallery to witness the magnificence of not 1 but 3 waterfalls. Though we reached in the afternoon the sun had gone down and it was cool though humid. One of most the beautiful sights I have seen in my life. If you are in Satara dont miss this spot.‬

‪Had been tired of all over crowded places near Pune like Mulshi, Lonavala, Matheran etc etc ... so wanted to explore something new and amazing.
Much awaited on my To Visit Places Sheet was "Thoseghar Waterfalls"
As it was recommended in monsoon - so I was typically waiting for that perfect day to leave for it.

Finally, me and my wife visited this place on Sunday. As it was raining heavily in Pune from more then 3 days - we got an idea how beautiful our trip is gonna be.
And yes, we got more then what was expected. Lush Green mountains, rains, huge windmills on road , we were lost completely in this place.

So we started from Pune around 7 AM, it is around 155 kms - that would take at least 4 hours when it is continuously raining. We reached around 12 [stopped for breakfast at Vitthal Kamat's] before Mahabaleshwar crossing. We followed Google Maps and it took us the right way via short cut that didn't let us enter Satara city crowd which we were not even interested.

After few kilometers- you will reach Thoseghar turn, from there the entire surroundings, villages seem to been intentionally decorated by plush green colours, roads are well maintained. It was like heaven - we kept stopping at many mid points just for clicking nature's beauty and some selfies.

Before 4-5 kms to Thoseghar waterfall, you will see a huge Windmill just next to road, you can stop access it and take photos if you wish to.

Finally, we reached Thoseghar waterfall main gate - huge parking space - no worries. Entry ticket is Rs 30 pp. It was crowded [as expected on Sunday] but still it is very well planned and organized - so you wont feel like long queues or pushing and all. Luckily that time it stopped raining for sometime and we could make best out of it. So - there are 2 ways: 1 goes to big waterfall where there is a terrace - you can stand there and click the best pics - it is crowded, so you need to wait for few minutes to get yourself perfect stand. From there itself you will be able to see series of waterfalls - very beautiful. There is also a photographer available who can click for you as many as you want - he charges Rs 50 per print [hard copy].
Then we moved towards Small waterfall - it took some stairs and some steps [not much] to reach there... you will get very close to it.... it was so huge that we got fully drenched by its waves. Cnt define in words... may be the pics and videos will do and make you all feel it. While returning from small waterfall, there is way that takes you to the river flowing behind the small waterfall - that view was also very amazing.

Then we were back to exit gate. Overall, it took us 1.5 hours to complete both Waterfalls and collecting so many memories in our phones.

There are few eating points near parking and main gate for quick munchies you desire in monsoon - dont expect much. When we returned after completing our waterfalls towards Parking, we were hungry, so just next to main gate - there is small restaurant which is not well maintained and was serving very ok food. But near road side parking - there are few more outlets available where anyone can try [they look far better then the place we had snacks]

I would say it is little far off from Pune - but once you reach there, you will have no regrets.

Best time is always monsoon - go and collect lot of life memories of such a beautiful place .....Keep travelling !!‬

‪It was a nice drive through out from pune after leaving city's highway Traffic. Google map shows road via old satara city n mountain- congested road. But instead of taking that take the by pass 4-5 km after that. The road to reach thoseghar is wonderful with too much greenery and scenic. The falls are majestic and fierce. The tall one feels milk coming out. Recommend highly.‬
