‪Before going to Sangam, we visited this famous and revered temple of Goddess Parvati. It is recognized as one of the Shakti Peeths in India. The temple has two stories of its origin. As per one story, this place used to be a dense forest in ancient times where many gangs of dacoits used to operate. Once a doli or carriage carrying a newly married bride with several people were passing through the forest when dacoits attacked, looted away the belongings and also killed all the people of marriage party. But when they reached this doli to take away the gold ornaments of the bride and other valuable from the carriage, they found that there was no bride inside. Then these dacoits ran away fearing goddess's curse. Since then, this place has been worshipped as the temple of Alopi Devi (Disappeared Goddess). There is no deity in the temple except a small well decorated carriage or doli, which is worchipped. This temple is highly sanctified by Hindus. The other story is popular for most of the Shakti Peeths in India, i.e., when Lord Shiva did tandava (dance) with Devi's body in anger and to pacify him Lord Vishnuu cut various parts of her body, there was no part left when Lord Shiva, his anger subsided, finally sat at this place. It is not a very large temple but is well maintained and main attractions areits doli and huge piple tree in the campus. There was no rush when we visited this temple but it is known to draw large crowds during Navratri festivals.‬

‪I visited this temple with my family recently; I believe it was exceptionally busy day as was very auspicious, but the hygiene inside the temple was pretty sub-standard. The offerings from devotees were all over the floor, making the walk very slippery and dangerous. I abandoned going into the sanctum sanctorum and turned back as I could not take it any more...
I request the temple authorities to adhere to the concept of 'cleanliness is next to godliness', and make the devotee's visit a memorable one for right reasons...‬

‪It is one of those rare Sati Peeth where multitude of crowd and pandas do not trouble the pilgrims.
Interestingly, the temple houses no particular deity. It has a swing hanging from the ceiling which devotees consider as the form of Sati Devi herself.
As per alternate legend, the temple was built in memory of the newly wed girl who had miraculously vanished from the Palki when a gang of dacoits attacked her band of bearers. Hence the name Alopi (LOP meaning to vanish in Hindi/Bengali).

Whatever the mythology, the temple is beautiful and is a must-visit in Allahabad.‬

‪It is 1-2 kms from Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj.. It is said that Right hand Four Fingers of Maa Sati dropped here when her burnt body was being carried by Bhagawan Shivji. And immediately it disappeared(अदृष्य या अलोप ), that is why there is no physical (मूर्ति आदि) presence of Devi is here. There is 1 पालना और उसके नीचे एक जल कुंड है| पालने की ही पूजा होती है और कुंड के जल को बहुत पवित्र व फलदाई माना जाता है । ‬

‪Not really a tourist destination but a religious visit a must. These temples are of great importance to the Hindus but not meant as a tourist destination and picnics. ‬

‪It considered one of the famous Shakti Peethas of Mata Sati. There is no statue in this temple, there is a wooden carriage (doli) which is worshipped as a deity. Please note that in normal days temple closed at 9:00pm. It suggested to reach temple by 8:30pm.‬
