You can visit Tjapukai any time between 9am and 5pm without a booking, or attend the Dinner and Show from 7pm each day. You will need a booking for the evening.

We used a tour company to take us and bring us back. I do not remember the cost. Your hotel staff may be able to help out.

Hi, Renuka. We were a traveling group of three Japanese. We arrived at the Tjapukai Center in our rent-a-car just before 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 24th, 2018. We had booked Exclusive Experience tour which started at 10:00 a.m. If I remember correctly the tour ended around 12:30 p.m. (It was a 2.5 hour tour according to the program.) Then we took lunch in the restaurant, watching a dance show. Originally, we didn’t include lunch in our tour, but we opted to do so. We took our lunch leisurely for more than 1 hour and enjoyed a little time shopping at the store next to the restaurant. I suppose we left the center just before 14:00 p.m. Then we headed for our next destination of the day, Jaques Coffee Plantation. As we booked our tour there at 15:00 p.m., we just passed by Kuranda. I’m sorry, but I don’t have any information about the restaurants in Kuranda area. When we left the Plantation, it was almost 16:30 p.m., and we gave up visiting a winery near the plantation. When we got to our lodging place, Chamber’s Wildlife Rainforest Cottages near Lake Eacham, it was dark at night. We weren’t able to have time to stop and see any sights on the way to our cottage. Taking two tours a day was the maximum for us. I hope this story of our experience will be of some help to you.

Hi, there is a large car park that is rarely full. Otherwise the Skyrail car park right next door is also very spacious.

Hi Shawna, Thank you for your inquiry. You most certainly can do both activities in one day as our park is open from 9:00am till 5:00pm during the day and then we reopen at 7:00pm for our Night Fire. I would suggest to do the day tour in the morning, that way you can do something else until 7:00pm. Kuranda Railway is closed on the 12th and 13th of October just for your information. We have a Kuranda All Inclusive Day package available as well for $239.00 per adult which includes entry to Tjapukai, Skyrail up and Kuranda Railway down which is also an option for you. Hi Silvanadavid77, We would recommend the day experience as it will give you time to interact one on one with our Aboriginal guides. It will also let the kids throw a boomerang and a traditional spear, and teach you about the didgeridoo. You could also upgrade to the Cultural Creations package and that way you will get to paint your own souvenir boomerang and make traditional jewellery. Thanks and enjoy your visit.

When you enter the building they begin the evening with aboriginal face paint and some food and drink- everyone is milling around. Then the performers come in all dressed up playing this aboriginal instrument and they lead you to an outdoorsy stage where they perform aboriginal dances and teach you about the culture. They teach you aboriginal chants/ beats. There is a buffet dinner and then the group builds a fire together and it's pretty much time to go. I absolutely loved the evening, it was cultural and felt otherworldly in the darkness. I think that if you appreciate art culture and history then you will enjoy the evening. I don't know how limited your hearing is but If you can hear instruments then definitely go, I just suggest you bring along someone to relate over what's being said- the performers all have accents and it may be difficult to understand what they are saying at times. The staff are lovely and I don't think it'll be an issue with them.
