When we visited the place this week, renovation was still going on. We were overwhelmed by its architecture. This is just an outstanding monument! Just magnificent!
It was worth travelling from Faridpur town - a 40 mins drive - to visit this place. The road was good.
Highly recommended!

Mathurapur Deul, c.1636 AD.
The Deul (high mound) is an archaeological heritage, a unique vestige of the Bara-Bhuiyans reign in Faridpur while there are two others known popularly as the Kodala Moth in Bagerhat and Sarkar's Moth in Mahilara in Bakerganj and all of them belong to the 17th century. Like most of the archaeological places, this one is a 17th century architect with many terracotta depicted Hindu Myth.
The Deul is situated at Mathurapur of Gajna union under Madhukhali upazila of Faridpur district. One look at the structure reveals its unique beauty: Fashioned out of terracotta, the Deul is decorated with numerous mythical figures such as terracotta flowers and foliage, gods and goddesses, Hanuman in ecstatic mood, nude dancing figures, and horses in motion.
The architecture is considered as unique in Bengal. It is the only known 12-sided 17th century Rekha type temple in Bangladesh. Externally each side measures 10.66 feet and internally 4.10 feet. The height of the temple is 80 feet.
