Agree with all the other comments here... did half a day mountain biking with Trek'n'Trail around Rothiemurchus estate near Aviemore - Paul was clear and concise, patient [not surprised to hear he is a former teacher], and interesting when explaining the geology, the local names, stories of picnicking on ice, etc... It was MUCH better than having the stress of hiring bikes and trying to do it myself - Paul was good at instructing my 12-year-old twin daughters, knowing how to make their riding safer and easier (they will be better riders now at home as a result of his tuition) - and obviously I didn't have to worry about picking out suitable paths etc.
The long downhill at the end of the morning was honestly my best experience of my trip to Scotland - really exhilirating.

I've been looking for an activity that my golfing husband and my hillwalking self could do all together with our seven year old son, and thanks to Paul and Chris I think I've found it.
We had a brilliant 1/2 day intro to mountain biking for all the family, where we all had an utter blast, feel we have all gained great new skillz and are now firmly hooked. It also doesn't hurt that their playground is some of the most beautiful outdoors in the world. We'll be back later on in August & really look forward to the next session.

We had a wonderful time ! The children loved the bike adventure! Paul is a wonderful guide and the scenery is beautiful. We took a packed lunch and had a picnic by the lake. Definitely a lovely experience in Scotland

We were out with trekntrail as part of the Aviemore Walking Festival on 16th May. The mountains were still covered with snow, magnificant views, blue sky and sunshine. It was wonderful. On our way off one of the high peaks we sat dowm for a cuppa, and, to our delight we spotted a pair of dotterel who seemed to be completely unphased by our presence. As we were watching, they performed a mating ritual, the female dashed off one way, the male another, then she came back and chased him!!!! Then as we were heading back over a few of the smaller peaks we were approached by one of the reindeer who roam freely around. She was so tame, think she was looking for a sandwich. What a memorable day. Terrific route and great guiding.

Paul at TreknTrail provided a really excellent day mountain biking in the Aviemore area. I am a novice mountain biker but under Paul's instruction we enjoyed a memorable journey through incredible scenery - including Rothiemurchus, Loch Morlich and the Green Loch. Paul knows the area intimately, and I enjoyed his stories about the sites, always delivered with a smile. I have been to the Cairngorms a number of times but it was a delight to be shown around by bike and with the benefit of local knowledge. Paul is highly recommended.

My daughter and I booked the introduction to mountain biking course; Paul is very knowledgable of the area and how to get the most from it on a bike, he was understanding of our requirements and set the route accordingly. The scenery is amazing and cycling through the forests was both highly enjoyable and entertaining. Paul is passionate about the outdoors, easy going, friendly and a great guide. Highly recommended and we will certainly be going back.

Thanks Alan, I enjoyed the day on the bike with you and young Amy. She especially improved a lot and gained lots of confidence riding on those scenic, muddy and bumpy trails. I hope you come back soon to pick up some more new skills e.g. front and rear wheel lifts, climbing, cornering and descending. Cheers, Paul.

My mate and I booked Paul to do a day's hiking in the Cairngorms. I also booked Paul for a second day for some further hiking. Paul is a really experienced guide who knows the area like the back of his hand and is really attentive to abilities and preferences of the people he takes out. He is able to make good judgments about the weather and the terrain to make sure you get the most out of your experience. Thanks again for the experience!

I'm glad you guys enjoyed your walks with me in the Cairngorms. In spite of the cloudy wet weather you still got some great views from Ben MacDui across to Braeriach and Cairn Gorm. I hope you feel inspired to come back to Aviemore again and try some more of the fantastic high level mountain treks with TREKnTRAIL. Best wishes, Paul

It's late May 2012, and my partner and I contacted TREKnTRAIL for a 2-day introduction to mountain biking skills and biking journey into the Cairngorm mountains. The scenery was too beautiful and the weather was perfect, but what made this trip special was Paul.
Before we even started, Paul was meticulous in providing us instructions on attire, gear to bring along, and how to rent bikes. All we needed to do was to follow his email instructions and we were off to a great start!
Paul's a fantastic instructor and guide. He knows his way around the trails well, has a good eye for fitness levels and knows when to push us as we improve in our mountain biking skills. We were able to understand the basics within the first day and before long Paul was teaching us more exciting things to try on a bike. I just hope we did not disappoint him too much!
Paul's very knowledgeable too and is constantly ready to share his passion for nature and the outdoors. We had a great time hearing him speak about his experiences and sharing our own backgrounds with him.
At the end of the day, you can grab a pint with Paul and have a great chat while we find out more about the history of the cairngorm mountains. Paul's a true outdoor person. So if you wish to find someone reliable on treks, mountainbiking on trails, even skiiing in the cairngorm mountains, then Paul and TREKnTRAIL is the place for you to go to!

Thanks for the great review Mark. I enjoyed showing you and Ruth around the bike trails in the Rothiemurchus and Glenmore Forests near Aviemore. You picked up the riding skills fairly quickly despite never riding a mountain bike off road before. I look forward to you coming back to develop your skills still further and to explore more of the Cairngorms National Park. Perhaps I could take you on a mountain walk as well - the views from up there are even better!! :D

Paul took us out up Ben Macdui in wind, rain, mist - and it was still wonderful and worth every minute of the bad weather. He's a great guide, very knowledgable and great company, and good with people of all levels of fitness and experience. Highly recommended - I want to come back for a multi day hike with him.

Really enjoyed my day out walking with Paul and even bagged a munro in the
process ! Good company and very knowledgeable about local environment and
hills and more than happy to share tips about walking in the hills, mountain
biking, etc. Highly recommended.
