We were in Oistins on a Wednesday at lunchtime, and many of the fish stalls were closed. Annie's was open, and we had a fabulous meal (fried flying fish in a wonderfully seasoned batter, with a green salad and fries).

First thing to note is to take into account the traffic to get there on a Friday night. It took us 2 hours by bus from Holetown. We arrived at around 6.30pm and it was busy already with queues around a number of the food stands. Due to previous reviews we headed for 'Yvonnes'. Shared seating but very welcoming. Took our order quickly and food came in about 20 minutes. Good value, hot and well cooked. Served in a takeaway container with plastic cutlery. The prices are very clear and unlike reviews for other outlets there was no pressure and no dispute about pricing. Great atmosphere, felt safe and police patrolling around. Plenty of taxis going back towards Bridgetown but bus to Holetown did not come until around 9.15pm and was very busy.

Utter chaos... think Notting hill carnival but worse. 50 min wait for food... we have up amd went chefettes... again not a high recommendation. Stay at your hotel

Wasn't our scene. Should have skipped this. But, we saw a turtle and that was great.
It's a fish fry and we are vegan so we ate before we came. It's advetised as having a DJ and a live band. There was no live band. There were some guys dancing and a lot of drunk female tourists trying to take one home. Ughh.

I use crutches therefore I think the fish fry is probably not meant for me.
The fish was OK, there is much better elsewhere. But everyone should try it at least once

If you want to mingle with pissed up drugged up Bhajan locals and eat second rate food at stupid prices this is the place. Otherwise give it a wide berth

Never eat and Bellamy & springer ,if you do then please check ur bill ,as they over charged us and other costumers …tried to rip my partner and I off big time .,and wanted a tip for poor service etc etc ..food was terrible,to top it off because my partner questioned the verbal bill,and asked for a breakdown and the menu we ordered from ,none were available ( strange that) ,over charged by 30%. Then they actually asked for our table back although we were still drinking our drinks we purchased with them ,I said I haven’t finished yet and she got her work colleague to help her move the long white table somewhere else with our drinks on the table ,I grabbed our drinks and just sat on the chair until we finished …very very poor ,I would not let this happen to me in the uk and to be honest it wouldn’t happen anyway .I wanted to play my face but you never know being abroad .disgusting ,overall we had a good night after that,music and audience were brilliant ,would go back again but not eat at that disgusting place ….please be warned

We went to Oistins after being cautioned by a friend not to go on a Friday night because it was too busy. It was the best experience and I would highly recommend this Friday night activity to any person who is travelling to Barbados. A lot of locals go there for Friday night fish and entertainment and It is packed with people blowing off steam, eating and enjoying the vibe. You will encounter lineups. The best thing to do is to go a little early, say around 530 and get a table and get yourself some refreshments, hopefully, some Banks beer! The place is just hopping and the food is so simple, but so good because most likely it was just taken off the boat that morning. We went to uncle George’s, and were very pleasantly surprised at the quality of the fish, how much fish was given and the side dishes. Nothing fancy, but it was so entertaining and the meal was amazing after dinner we wandered around as they had a live band playing, but in another area of oysters there was a huge parking lot with DJ music set up and people were breakdancing and dancing hip-hop so it was a real show. I strongly urge you to take in this local Friday night special because you won’t be sorry!

Fish fry was great every time I went. Great food stalls in every direction serving up everything from bbq chicken to tuna steaks. Be sure to try the famous macaroni pie! Good deals on brews and rum punch in every other stall. Friday night is the busy night although ive been there on quieter evenings and still serving up the goods.

This place is open most of the week and a great place for dinner (a few places are open for breakfast), but Friday night is when things come alive.
There are vendors selling souvenirs, music (lots of dancing) and great food. There are family’s of all ages and it is a great night out.
It starts getting busy around 6pm and finishes around 2pm.
There are taxis outside waiting to take tourists back when you are done, so if you are not staying nearby a taxi is probably a better option than driving.
Wear flat shoes.

We was thinking of trying a sat night instead of the friday, whats everyone's thoughts on this . We went last time on a friday and struggled to get a seat. Thanks for any advice.

One local we spoke to last month suggested going on a day other than Friday, but we didn't get the opportunity to try - Pat's is certainly open all week, I'm sure other restaurants are as well... it won't have the same 'atmosphere' - which might be a good thing! - but it'll still be a great meal at a great price.

Is it worth buying as an excursion for $11.50 pp or just take a taxi from Sandals Barbados

The one Sandals offers isn't a bad price for the time there. If you want to not worry about being on a time schedule I would do a taxi- however traffic is horrible getting there so price wise again Sandals might be the cheapest option. And bring cash, everything we found was cash only.

Too far to walk. Enjoy the culture and experience of the reggae reggae buses, they are cheap and cheerful. Oistins is a great cultural experience and fun for all ages. We ate twice at Winella’s in the centre behind the main stage. Great food and not just fish either but the swordfish was fantastic. There are also gift stalls but don’t worry, the sellers are not pushy. The main stage entertainment is a bit ‘hit & miss’ but can be fun if your expectations are not too high. If you like dancing get your dancing shoes ready. Lots of opportunity to dance around the venue. In my opinion it’s a must to visit and we felt safe at all times.

Pats place is the BEST! It used to be George’s but now by far Pats place is better. Juicier fish (George’s over does his fish) and much much better side options! We lived there for 2 years and only went to George’s. We went back this past March and found Georges went downhill and now will only go to Pats!

What currency do they accept for the vendors? Do you have to have your USD converted prior?

Barbados dollar is fixed to usd. 2 barbados dollar to one USD. They accept both (you can even mix and match currencies ). But they will give you change in Barbados dollars.

Our plane does not land until 5:15 on Friday by the time we get bags and. To hotel it would probably be 7 before we got to Oistins. Is that too late to even try?? Do they run out of fish or is it just way crowded??

No way!! We went there at abt 7. It’s crowded & you’ll have a line to wait but so worth the experience
