This is a tourist place and if the are buses pulled u, you've got a long wait. They took over from the little (1935) local cafe which can't seem to make up its mind what to sell. Salmon World is adequate for tourists or if you want something while passing through.

Is a good area to stopby. The food is not bad and reasonable price. But have to agree with the rest of the reviewers about the restaurant staff. They really gave you their super black face and why u are in our restaurant????

We didn't visit "Salmon World" it's closed but stopped for a toilet break.
The statue is still there and still great for photos.
What made our dash for (including) is the playground in the park.
Good old traditional long swing and slides with new barrel and tractors.
A good haft an hour visit.

Coffee was great, well done.
Cheese Mousetrap was delicious right up to the point that I found a hair in it. The young lady apologised and offered something else as they didn't have another in the cabinet or another coffee, but not a refund.

Ordered two green teas cost $8.40 and the girl came out with tiny cups, so I politely asked for bigger cups for the amount I paid so she did and that was awesome. She took 10mins to make 2 more teas (I work in hospo and it shouldn't take that long) then came out and was super rude, I said thank you very much she said nothing and gave me the evils and turned around very sharply no 'thank you have a nice day' or anything. Would definitely not come back here over priced and super rude could have bought 2 boxes of tea bags for that price.

Salmon World is just about the only tourist thing to do in Rakaia, although the playground in the park accross the street is good, too.

Staff didn’t seem happy to serve us. People smoking in outdoor area and smoke blowing indoors. Average food. Nothing to do with actual salmon.

Great coffee and food here. Would definitely recommend the bacon and egg panini. Friendly staff too which was great :)

Enjoyed the displays as well as cafe with wifi! The place also has a big a very good information kiosk.
