Very beautyfull waterfalls. The water is very clear to see and can be watched on many locations. The larged view is on the bridge, on the main road.

Na putu iz Dalmacije u Zagreb odlučio sam zastati u Slunju. Cijeli život prolazim kroz ovaj grad banana (banane su u socijalizmu bile nezvanični simbol Slunja jer su uvijek ukrašavale ulaz u trgovinu u centru grada pa čak i onda kad je vladala nestašica ovog voća u ostalim krajevima propale države), a nikad nisam svratio u njega i posjetio staro vodeničarsko naselje Rastoke. Rastoke su ostavile lijep dojam na mene te sam proveo ugodno vrijeme šećući kroz ovaj skladni spoj prirodne i graditeljske baštine, pokušavajući ugledati vidru kako viri negdje ispod slapova i osluškujući Slunjčicu kako huči preko sedrenih naslaga. Potom sam krenuo prema Zagrebu i tek onda, netom prije izlaza iz Slunja, se sjetio kako bih mogao nešto pojesti. Obzirom na to da mi se nije dalo vraćati nazad na Rastoke skrenuo sam desno prema Bistrou 3m. Grdno sam pogriješio jer sam ondje pojeo najgore splačine u svom životu. Netko je napisao da može zamisliti kako Rastokama trče čarobnjaci i hobiti, i ja se s tim potpuno slažem te dodajem kako mogu zamisliti da se u Bistro-u 3m hrane orci.

Rastoke is a quaint town that the Plitvice Lakes and Rastoke Day Trip stops at on the way to Plitvice Lakes National Park.

Un piccolo abitato costituito da una moltitudine di mulini, alcuni ancora funzionanti.
Una passeggiata simpatica ed amena a circa 30 km. da Plitvjce. Consigliato.

A short stop in Rastoke/Slunj is essential if you want to take in the full splendour of the waterways and waterfalls in this area of Central Croatia.
I was stunned by the number of waterfalls that cascade into the Koruna River below. You can see the majority of these from the pathway which boarders the main D1 road - it costs you nothing other than the fee for parking your car.
If you have time, then a visit into the small town of Rastoke is also recommended. Here you will find the myriad of waterways and small streams that feed the waterfalls and numerous cascades.
Absolutely magical and a great introduction to the splendid waterfalls of the Plitvice National park.

This is a must see town if driving between the Piltvice Park and Zagreb. Go early in the morning with gentle sun and mist for the best vibe. Took me 1 hour to walk a full circle along river and town.
Must prepare coins for the parking meter and toilet. Parking was Kn 15 for an hour, and the meter won't take less than Kn 15.
Public toilet was Kn 3 per person with no change.

Perfect charming place much smaller than Plitvice but with a special soul and tranquility that leaves you breathless. My first recommendation after the walk is shop called S'mek, with local food, really high quality and souvenirs made by local small businesses. The atmosphere is home like and with the beautiful terrace where you can sip a drink.and relax a bit, buy local products and leave Rastoke fulfilled with everything that offer.
BTW the owner is super friendly and together with all above leaves you with a unforgettable moment
The whole experience is so fulfilling that you'll want to repeat soon trust me 👌👌👌

This is a very lovely little place that wouldn't look out of place with wizards and hobbits running around. We stopped here briefly travelling from Zagreb to Pltvice Lakes and will worth it if just to get a few photos.

Villaggio caratteristico che sembra uscito da una fiaba. Piacevole passeggiata tra le cascatelle e le casette tipiche.

No hay que pagar para entrar al pueblo. Si hay que pagar si quieres ver ciertas zonas privadas que ocupan algunos restaurantes.

Hi all, Is Rastoke Village sort of closed during winter season? (like December till March). Group of people would like to come in January, wonder if they could visit there.

Sorry, I have missed your question!
Rastoke is a village. There live some people and it should be opened whole year.A part of rastoke has limited entrance with paying fee. There are some waterfalls and a cave. I'm not sure, but I think, it's also opened whole year.

Public transport is not very convenient. So best possible way to travel between cities in Croatia is car rental. Rastoke has few hotels and B&B's but there are many good ones on the highway between Zagreb and Plitvice. Plitvice park opens at 9am (check October timings on website)...reach before it opens. Bon voyage!

Well it is hard to tell as this last couple of days is pretty cold and tehrefore we are not open. Hopefully the sun will come back and we will open in the beggining of March. If not, you should stop nevertheless just to see how Rastoke look allwhite :)

Elissa, if you want to stay in center of Rastoke, use our own Guesthouse Slovin-Unique and wake up looking at the waterfalls.
