We stopped here for an hour on our way to Plitvice Lakes - and I must admit that I didn't really understand what we were going to see!
It's a bit hard to explain - but it's absolutely stunning when you see it! If you're approaching from Zagreb, as you wander down the hill to enter the village, make sure to walk along the edge, to get a good view of the water pouring out of the village.
You can't enter into the private properties in the village itself, but even without that the place is pretty impressive. And whilst most facilities were shut for winter, the bar was even open on New Year's Day when we visited!
I wouldn't bother staying here, but if you're passing, make sure you stop and have a look at this fantastic village.

Bacenih 9 eura.
Jako razocaravajuce u svakom slucaju.

Nice place, beautiful nature but stupid attitude.
Restaurant is nice but expensive. And closed in the winter i guess.
But the deal breaker was the price of the bridge. We wanted to go round trail. And came to bridge. And they CHARGE 5€ to pass it!!! It destroyed all the mood. Just stay at the top and enjoy nature

Beautiful place, looks like the country of a fairy tale. Too bad about the reception. We were 4 people with our dogs, we were not well received, dogs are not accepted virtually anywhere. You pay everything, from parking, 2 euros per hour, to the entrance, 5 euros per head, for a ride that lasts 10 minutes. You pay again to see stalls and dogs are not allowed, if you ride with the dog you are taken badly... in short... we were not made to feel welcome. Too bad, because we were 3 days near, at the Plitvice lakes, and we were treated very well. I write only to warn those who have their little dog next to them, place to avoid.

A small village that is exploited touristically with bucolic installations for which you pay too high a price to enter.
Visit to a non-working old mill and a small museum of traditions.
Some nice scenarios.

A really fairy place with installations for artistic photos. Waterfalls and streams at every point. A small ethnographic museum and a mill that was a bit bare inside. It would be great from time to time to see human representations in dresses or fairies dancing or agricultural instead of fixed statues. You can see it from the street. I got there by bus from Zagreb and dropped me off in Slunj, from there I reached the village on foot via a downhill path

Surely if there had been more water it would have been better, but the problem is not this....
the fact is that it was a muddle of things, so many half-broken and not kept in good condition.... pay an entrance fee of € 6.00 or € 7.00 each (I do not remember precisely the figure) is a mismatch, not worth them... if only it was cared for and given a logical sense then you could pay willingly.

Very nice village nestled between streams and waterfalls. Stop to do if you visit the pkitvice waterfalls. Family entrance costs 20€. Closes at 8 pm (at least in August)

In conclusion, I think it's a good place to spend time without having to come.
I was passing from Zagreb to the Plitvice National Park for a rental car and I found it on Google Maps. There's a lot of blog postings like Little Flitwick, Fairy Village, and to hear such stories... Very disgusting. I don't think the pictures are good, but it's just a little folk village feeling. If you think you're going to take a photo and take a break on the way, it's a good place to go, and you're going to be disappointed when you come. The whole structure is very bad. I think it'd be better if you took some pictures of the shrimp outside without a paid entry.

Is there anywhere to store luggage near the bus stop in Rastoke?
Hi there, I'm looking for a relaxing place to stay in Croatia and someone recommended Rastoke to me. I'm just wondering if it's possible to reach it from Zagreb with buses and taxis? Any help is much appreciated! Thanks in advance.
Rastoke is not near Zagreb. A taxi would be very expensive. I don't know about buses. The best thing to do is to hire a car and drive there yourself.

Hi all, Is Rastoke Village sort of closed during winter season? (like December till March). Group of people would like to come in January, wonder if they could visit there.
Sorry, I have missed your question!
Rastoke is a village. There live some people and it should be opened whole year.A part of rastoke has limited entrance with paying fee. There are some waterfalls and a cave. I'm not sure, but I think, it's also opened whole year.
Best regards,
Bogdan

Hi,
visiting zagreb end of october.
appreciate a response :
From zagreb airport to Rastoke - what is the convenient way?
At rastoke where to spend a night?
From Rastoke to plitvice lake when to start in the morning to avoid Rush? And how to go?
Transportation ?
Thanks
Public transport is not very convenient. So best possible way to travel between cities in Croatia is car rental. Rastoke has few hotels and B&B's but there are many good ones on the highway between Zagreb and Plitvice. Plitvice park opens at 9am (check October timings on website)...reach before it opens. Bon voyage!
