Education panels in Spanish. Sloths were active at feeding time about 12:30pm today. Great photo op. Gift shop with t-shirts for the sloth rescue program.

We loved this exhibit. It is part of a package at the Gamboa Rainforest Hotel . You get so close to the sloths but no touch! No need guides bring them right up to you!! They are actually pretty active👍 This was one of our favorite things.

I did the Rainforest tour package, which included the Tram ride, the Sloth sanctuary and the boat ride to see the monkey islands. A super great deal and day for the family. The staff were fantastic, especially Hector. They were running a bit late, and they came to find us in order to make a new plan, we didn't have to search out anyone. I was very impressed with this place. Great family activity.

This place is really neat but kinda dangerous.
Very different from US zoos. Lots of different animals including caiman or alligators on the loose...so stay away from the pond! :)
Beautiful old setting and neat walking paths. Worth the time and money.
We skipped looking for Jaguars in the jungle after the Caimen on the loose! :) See pics

We were lucky to have 2 encounters with sloths in the wild while in Panama, but they were not up close. We purchased tickets online and ubered from the city to the sloth sanctuary. Some were feeding and were quite active at the time. We were able to ask questions. We also went to the see the butterflies, frogs and orchids which where also interesting but the best was the sloths. We gave a $10 donation and got a calendar. You won’t spend a lot of time here, but your time will be well spent.

This is our second time visiting Panama. Sloths have always been on our list of "things to see" and this location offers you the very closest encounter. You might be luckier than us and see them in the wild - but we have only seen them waaaaaay up in the trees. At this location, we arrived just as they were feeding them (11:30 the day we went) and they were very active. Give them 20 minutes - and they are sound asleep! You do NOT need a guide. Buy your ticket online through the Gamboa Rainforest Resort (you don't need to stay there to purchase a ticket). If anyone has specific how-to questions - message me and I'll do my best to help. I see many tourists upset that they couldn't spend more time here because they were in a group. We bought tickets for the Conservation area before we left for Panama (we stayed at the lodge but you could easily get an uber from Panama city and not need a tour to take you here)- We started with the sloths (and spent 30 minutes here at least) and then continued to see orchids/frogs/butterflies and then went back to watch them sleep with the delightful relaxation music they put on for them after they are fed.

How do you get here from Panama city? We are not staying at the Gamboa resort. Can you use uber?

We took a tour bus; don't know the name as it was arranged by the cruise ship. It is off of well traveled roads, so it should not be a problem.
I don´t really answer this type of comments in any social media for many reasons, but primarily because the type of Work I do. Let me introduce myself, I´m Nestor Correa, founder of the PanAmerican Conservation Association (2004), biologist with 20 years of experience. I been working in wild life rescue all my life, and after reading your comments, I have decided that you deserve an answer. I have nothing to say about the Gamboa Resort infrastructure, but I can tell you this… Back in 2014, our NGO struggle (lack of support and funding), and they offer help, they provide us with free facilities and more recently a percentage donation from the fee you pay to tour the rescue center, sloth sanctuary and the other exhibits, (So without you knowing, you are doing something good, you are supporting wildlife rescue, for real!)
Our NGO rescue and release over 4000 animals in the last 12 years, every animal in the Sloth Sanctuary and the Rescue Center have a story and lost of work behind…Before you judge, I encourage you to do your homework, search on line, I´m not going to make it easy for you, but here an look on the NatGeo site "baby-sloth-orphanage-rescue", Look for appcpanama or Asociación Panamericana para la Conservación and you will see many publications (Look for Nat Geo Español September, we were the best of Latin America), them, judge again.
The 25 orphans sloths we have in care right now, were all rescue after their mother were road kill, electrocute, attack by domestic animals or victims of illegal traffic of animals, we are the number one rescue operation in Panama, supporting the ecological police and the ministry of environment, we survive with donations and volunteers. Each Sloth was raised by my wife and the volunteer, some were a few days or months when their mothers die. Now, with our new project, sponsor by the resort, we are building a re-introduction back into the wild habitat for orphans/had raised sloths, but you need to know that we are the one that put sloth in the forest, every sloth we rescue that is not a baby is released in 24 to 72 hours, and we rescue and released more than 1,000 so far in 12 years.
Is so sad when people judge without knowledge, I´m not going to question what you do for a living and how much you support wildlife conservation, but in our case, we are very happy because we dedicate our life to rescue wildlife and we care for the animals. Yes the Resort is trying to make a profit, but is not what every business do??? In their case, at least they are supporting a real Wildlife Rescue NGO, and if you do not believe in our work, do I have to believe in you? Again you are welcome to search, hope you in your home are supporting a good cause, I´m sure you do. If you want to know more, please contact me at info@appcpanama and I will be happy to send you more info so you have a better knowledge of who we are and what we do. I´m sorry you have a bad tour guide, I know they have many good ones. I´m also sorry you did not listen my talk, I´m almost always there help the tour guides to tour the Sloth Sanctuary. I always get good comments from our visitors. If you ever come back, please let me know, I will love to tour you around. Have a nice day!

You can get very close but can't touch. Definitely worth the visit if you are in the area though. The sloths were very close and easy to observe. No obstructed views or behind glass or anything.

The animals here are rehabilitated and rescued. The staff have the upmost respect for the animals so do not treat them like they are in a zoo. It is important to understand that they won’t be able to be handled. However, it is the best place to go if you love animals and want to learn more about them and want to support an organisation that keeps endangered animals safe!
