It's a great pass if you drive from Kyzyl-Oi village to Song Kul lake though Kara-Keche pass. Certainly, it will be long way to Song-Kul (around 4-4.5h) , but it is worthy since you will see a lot of beautiful spots!!!!

la route est particulièrement cahotique, mais la vue au-dessus du col est imprenable... on croise des cyclistes de toutes nationalités qui s'attaquent à ce col, attention à la différence de température, même en plein été.

Kara-Keche Pass west of Naryn and near Song Kul Lake is another mountain pass that will reward you with some amazing views if the weather is clear. It’s an easy enough drive with a 4x4 vehicle and there are large trucks hauling coal and rocks along there, they are bigger so be aware that they rule the road.

Took this road on the way from Jumgal to Son-Kul Lake and never regretted. Picturesque views, pretty ok road (could be worse), fir trees on the way and mountains! Witnessed how coal is developed in Kara Keche.

This is a high mountain pass of over 3500 meters. The drive up to and over is adventurous and well worth it. The views are amazing. Of course, a 4x4 is needed.

This is one of 4 passes into Song Kul and usually one of the last to open. It's ok, but it does pass through the middle of an active coal mine.

If the weather is nice the view from the pass is amazing!
When I was there I asked my driver to stop at the top of the pass so I could take a picture but I could not see Son Kul. The pass is 3385 m and its on the way to Kyzyl-Oi. The whole area is vary wild and very few people live there and you can really feel like your out there! It's not easy to get there with public transport. I was told that there is only one bus leaving from Naryn City each day during the summer from the bus station but I could not find it and I took a taxi it was not cheep. This summer I'm thinking about going there on bike.
