We had lunch at Coombe - let’s start with atmosphere, the ground and restaurant looks amazing very nicely done. Food was also great we had the pork and beef, next time I would skip the pork as it was average but beef was amazing. Service was super efficient and very friendly. We also did tasting and overall I liked their Shiraz.

A lovely way to spend a winter day into Coldstream awashed with lush greenery peppered with golden hues of autumn.
A Melba Garden Walk & lunch for a belated milestone birthday - 7 acres of garden with captivating trees in their full glory as well as manicured gardens circumferenced with 600m of Cypress hedges!! A private swimming pool possibly a first for all the pool parties.
A peek into how a renowned Australian Dame called her home here is intriguing - fascinated with her bathtub enrobed by mirrored doors for privacy, together with lots of collectibles from different cultures reflecting her international life.
Part of the package included a 2 or 3 course lunch offering. We decided on the 3.
Starting off with House Smoked King salmon & Pea Soup with seared scallops - the soup was delicious.
Mains: Slow cooked Cape Grim beef rib was a little disappointing - it was certainly very tender but no distinguishing flavours, the roaring forties lamb loin was more flavoursome.
Desserts: Chocolate fondant was a bit too sweet for me, the Peach Melba Tart appealed more.
We enjoyed the complimentary white wine & sparkling mineral water. Latte & coffee completed a satisfying experience.
A well worth destination experience for a special occasion.

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your visit to Coombe Yarra Valley, we are certainly very lucky to enjoy such beautiful surrounds and rich history. Our winter menu showcases some of the best seasonal flavours and the pea soup and lamb loin have been very popular! We are sorry that the slow cooked beef and chocolate fondant were not to your liking, but we are glad that you enjoyed the rest of your meal and the drinks. We hope to see you again soon for another enjoyable lunch!

We were very impressed with our visit to the cellar door. Min the manager was knowledgeable and very down to earth and friendly. She made the visit a level above other wineries we have visited, and we have visited quite a few! The wines were excellent and we walked away with 6 bottles. We also enjoyed the Devonshire tea after the tasting. Definitely worth a visit.

We enjoyed a garden walk and lunch at the Coombes Estate last week. I enjoyed it even more than l thought I would. The garden tour was lovely and informative, great to learn about the life of Dame Nellie Melba, as we wandered through her beautiful estate. The lunch was mouthwatering and the wine excellent. Great acoustics in the converted garage, so although busy, we could all hear each order talk…highly recommend.

Very disappointing experience with high tea at Coombes in the Yarra Valley today . Scones were dry and hard. Sandwich bread was dry like they had been exposed to the air for a good while before being served. Cream served with the scones was whipped , not clotted as advertised in the brochure. Would not go there again. Better to go to Mary eats cake in Montrose where they serve a delicious high tea and an extensive range of teas

All the items for our high tea are prepared on the day, and we use double cream which is the closest you can get to true clotted cream in Australia. We have made sure that this is now reflected on our website and advertising. We are sorry that we didn’t meet your expectations on this occasion.

Very nice outlook. Beautiful restaurant. And excellent food. Would definitely recommend. Staff very pleasant, friendly and sociable.

Our table had a great position and view, our selections were very appealing. Seasonal vegetables, peach Melba dessert with sparkling wines were highlights. Attentive wait staff and refined ambience add to the experience. We recommend.

We loved everything about our lunch at this very special place. The food was delicious and so were the wines - especially the Fullerton Pinot Noir and the Blanc de Blanc sparkling. Next time we would probably add on a salad to the main course. The service was lovely, the young lady who served us went out of her way to organise the last bottle of Fullerton Pinot Noir that day and entertained us with a story of her grandfather in Delhi - that personal touch topped off a beautiful meal. Thank you very much!

We have always enjoyed the Coombe experience but this time it was very average. Over priced and ordinary service, and the food was nothing special. Such a shame.

Great lunch with service and food all of the highest standard. As a group with varied dietary requirements, we found great food covering all requirements. Wine range is varied but the highlight was the food. We go out to restaurants for the food. well done guys.

My sister and friends from NZ have celebrated Peach Melba day, in honour of Dame Nellie for 40 years . On this , the anniversary, they would love to all come over from NZ , to visit the place where she lived. It is a fun , grand occasion! A most important part of the celebration every year is to eat Peach Melba and wear pyjamas . There will be 8 of us. The date would be January 2nd.
Although this is perhaps, a little unorthodox, it is an extremely important occasion that has never been missed in the whole 40 years. I hope you are open to the idea .

We were at Coombe Estate yesterday and I re-mentioned your request. They received my email with your request. At first they thought it was someone just having some fun. When Petra noticed that the email was from me, she said "no I know this lady (as we have had a big function there) and she would be serious about this request.
If you look up Baringa Villa which is our bed and breakfast and send an email I will share further what they said as they are seriously considering your request.
