Awesome Tree...not many of these beautiful trees left in this part of the world. Local caretaker very knowledgeable and for a small fee of R20 will give you all he has got. My 2 teenagers totally raved about this place..do not pass the Tree.

Baobás são árvores majestosas e se destacam na paisagem. Pagamos uma taxa de 20 rands por pessoa para visitar o local. O guia então conta diversas curiosidades que aconteceram com a árvore em parte dos seus anos de convívio com humanos. Em nossa visita resolvemos fazer um picnic debaixo da árvore e realmente vale a pena. É possível subir na lateral da árvore e entrar no oco na base de seu tronco.

I was passing by Leydsdorp and stop at the baobab.
Interesting to see the size of the tree and the inside of it. Amazing to think about its age.
The care taker is passionate and very friendly and is happy to share his knowledge about it and the area...

Off the R71 just before Gravelotte is a good dirt road for approximately 4km to Leydsdorp. The beautiful Baobab is simply majestic. It is between 2,000 - 2,500 years old. Apparently grows 10mm per year. You can climb up the ladder to where the branches start as well as climb inside the trunk. It is well worth the R20 admission fee.

If yo uare in Africa, you see see one of these tree sup close, they are up to 550 yrs old and are spectacular. A must for photos!

Este enorme baobab se desplomo en su mayoria hace dos años. Es increible ver las fotos de como era antes y como ha queado ahor, y el entorno es precioso

We stopped off here before we started the journey back to New Zealand and it was so cool to see this tree up close, incredible.

This is not an attraction where you would spend a whole lot of time. The tree is stunning and when in the area, you might as well make a stop here. Besides the tree there's nothing else to do. Don't confuse this tree with another one elsewhere, as this is not the one with the bar inside. There used to be a ladder to climb to the top, but this was broken when we visited. There was also no one on duty when we were there, but you still get in.

The tree is big and you can go in the tree , even though there is a bit of a stench in the tree.there was a bar built in the tree but its not functional . a good place to take photos next to the tree.
