Wild tayras coming to feed on bananas which owners give them. It’s unforgettable unique experience to see wild mammals so close. In two day visits we saw 6 different individuals! And they all looks and behaves differently! Besides ultimate tayra experience we enjoyed bird feeders full of tanagers and other colourful birds. Hummingbird feeders attract some species impossible to see elsewhere! The garden surrounding the house attracts many interesting birds like fruiteaters and toucan barbets. Forest trails are broad and easy to walk. We enjoyed an excellent sighting of mountain toucan. There is a covered platform in the forest where you can enjoy nature around you even if it is raining. Owners are beautiful and friendly people who were a good company when we were waiting for tayras to come. They are ready to tell you an exciting story of reforestation of the property. They know every bird and mammal in their outstanding nature refuge. They also have some rustic accommodation which is way cheaper than any lodge in the area.

This place is absolutely amazing! The peace and tranquility you get here match no other place I've ever been to. You are able to witness birds and other animals up close and in their natural habitat. Tony and Barbara are excellent hosts and their passion for this place is impressive. I completely recommend visiting this place if you get a chance. I promise you will not regret it!

Pacha Quindi Nature Refuge is very beautiful. If you like Nature/Wild Life this is a Must Place to Go. The variety of Plants and Wild Life is Spectacular. The Feeling you get being in/with Nature has an Essences about it.

I have enjoyed visiting this location quite a few times and have always had fun seeing all the birds and animals coming to visit. The hummingbirds are one of my favorites but there are lots of other amazing things to see as well, birds, animals, bugs, native plants a flowers, and peaceful trails to walk.

We have visited this place a number of times over the years during different seasons and have never been disappointed. The hosts are always very hospitable and very knowledgeable about the flora and fauna. The area is beautiful and beautifully maintained, with a huge variety of birds and many other animals. Truly a little piece of heaven on earth.

Pacha Quindi leaves you wanting for adequate adjectives to describe your experience there. There is no place like it - not only in Ecuador, but in the entire world. Truly - this is the spot where you can see more species of hummingbirds than any other place in the world. This is a gem for both birders and non-birders alike.
I have known Tony and Barbara for over 20 years - and their dedication and admirable hard work has turned what had become a cow pasture back into a thriving habitat for the native species of birds, mammals and plants. They have reforested what once appeared barren - and now their piece of the cloud forest is second to none for birding and just enjoying nature. Their knowledge is unsurpassed, and their humility is refreshing.
For those who aren't avid birders, or can't/don't want to put in a lot of effort - you will be amazed at what you can see just sitting on their back porch. And if you want to put in a little more effort - walk their trails or stay in the cabin they have for visitors - you will not be disappointed!
Tony is a sought after bird guide, although he won't tell you so. He can distinguish hummingbird species by the sound of their wings. Barbara's knowledge is fantastic as well. She is soft-spoken and a wonderful artist. Ask to see some of her work.
Tony and Barbara are gracious and welcoming. This is the place you can't afford to miss in Ecuador - especially if you are coming for the birding. If your time is short - make sure to come here. You will see more in a couple of hours at Pacha Quindi than you will in an entire day somewhere else.
The birding is incredible - and only surpassed by your hosts - who will make sure your time there is one you will never forget.
Don't miss Pacha Quindi - it's a once in a lifetime experience.

Mi experiencia en Pacha Quindi fue increíble, es un lugar mágico, lleno de paz, es impresionante la cantidad de aves que se puede avistar, a mi gusto, el mejor lugar para observar colibríes, además, podemos ver ardillas y disfrutar de cerca a los cabezas de mate. En cuanto a los anfitriones, Tonny y Bárbara son excelentes, siempre muy alegres, dispuestos a enseñarte lo que saben, son muy amables.

Wonderful reserve, with beautiful fauna, and a very knowledgable host; but listening to the owner's conspiracy theories definitely detracted from the experience. We visited Ecuador in part to get away from American politics; and it was tiresome, to say the least, to be subjected to an endless tirade in support of Trump. Please, sir, allow your guests a respite from the stressful world in this lovely natural reserve.

There are many places to visit in Ecuador if you are a bird watcher/ wildlife enthusiast, but very few are comparable to this wonderful hidden oasis! Through hard work Tony & Barbara have managed to resurrect this incredible cloudforest back from what was cow pastures 20 years ago. This place with beyond words. The wildlife here is incomparable. White-faced Nunbirds, Beautiful Jays, Cloud-Forest Pygmy Owl, Giant & Mustached Antpittas, Plate Billed Mountain Toucans, are just a few of the birds you can see here. This reserve sits at the perfect elevation and therefore gets more diversity then any of the surrounding places. Lastly, very few people actually know about it, meaning we had the reserve all to ourselves. An amazing day of hiking through beautiful trails and bird species! The owners really love the land and life, and you can tell. Each of them is a wealth of knowledge and in just one day I learned so much about the local biota. Highly recommend and I know I will be returning very very soon!

No need for a tour, however they are available. You can simply come and enjoy the Hummingbird Garden and trails. Someone is always available to answer any questions you may have.
