While we understand that these concerns were upsetting for you, we would like to offer some further information which may be helpful to future couples in planning their wedding day. We do offer a DJ and MC as part of our wedding packages, and he is willing and able to play any selection of music that the couple prefers. We have catered to people's musical tastes from every age group and all over the world. In order to provide this service it is essential, as stated in the wedding contract, that the couple must bring their musical selections to the pre-wedding meeting. We did not receive Jenna and Nick's musical selections until the afternoon of the wedding. The song you are referring to was played, in its entirety, directly from the mp3 file on the USB thumb drive which was provided to our staff that afternoon. Guests may also make requests which our DJ will gladly play. He subscribes to a service which allows him to stream the latest musical releases from all over the world for guests at a moment's notice. If the bride and groom prefer to have their own MC they are welcome to do so at no charge, and if they prefer to bring in an outside DJ and/or band, they may do so for a fee of $100, and may forgo the use of our DJ and MC. This is also noted in our wedding contract. When it comes to perishable foods, liability is certainly a concern for us. While we do allow wedding cakes to be brought in, this is generally a service that is provided by a fully licensed and insured professional. In accordance to the Nova Scotia Food Retail and Services Code under Section 3.2.1.2 “Unapproved Sources: a. Food prepared in a private home or any other place which is not approved by the Department of Agriculture or other regulatory agency having jurisdiction shall not be used or offered for human consumption in a food premise.” This is a matter of health and safety for guests. We do however, offer a variety of appetizer options as well as custom menu options upon request. Our policies around outside food products are clearly stated in our wedding and other event contracts. We do our very best to ensure that our couples and their families and friends have the best possible experience on their wedding day, and we very much appreciate feedback from clients and their guests as it helps us to provide continuous improvement to our level of service.
