My visit to the Necromanteion of Acheron was an unforgettable experience. The ancient ruins, set in the serene Acheron Valley, exude a haunting beauty. The guided tour was enlightening, and the Oracle chamber sent chills down my spine. It's a must-visit for history and mystery enthusiasts, where the past and the present converge in a mesmerizing way. Do do through Persephone's Forest around the site, its a short walk in a serene environment.

Eines der Höhepunkte meiner Archäologischen Stätte. Wenn man den Hintergrund und die Mythologie kenn und liebt, ist es schön ganz was besonders dort zu steh und den Ort zu sehen. Der in der Odyssee steht, ähnlich wie in Delphi haben sich die Bilder im Geiste den Rest vorgestellt.
Neutral betrachtet ist die Ausgrabung und die Kirche drum herum natürlich im Vergleich zu Delphi und den anderen großen Stätten etwas kleiner. Ein extra Trip dort hin wurde vermutlich enttäuschen, wenn man keinen großen Bezug dazu hat.
Wenn man aber in der Gegend ist, sollte es schon ein Fixpunkt sein.

Ancient Greeks would come here to connect with the dead. Pilgrims had to go through days of being subjected to difficult physical and spiritual rituals and ceremonies to be allowed to reach the underground chamber and the door to the underworld and visit with the souls of the dead.
Walk around the ruins, see the different rooms where ceremonies were taking place and offerings were stored, and prepare yourself to descend to the chamber of Persephone and Hades. Be respectful, stay quiet, and maybe you too will receive a message from the dead.

Bijzondere ruïne met grafkelder waar de doden overgingen naar de onderwereld. In de grafkelder is het muisstil, je hoort geen echo. Na 2 trappen van 21 treden kom je beneden op een zeer mystieke plek!

It's not a big place, but you have a chance to experience entering the underworld. Styx river is around. From Corfu there is a ferry to Igoumenitsa on a very regilar basis, From there some transfer is needed.
