The Visitor Center was very informative. They have a monitor that provides what the weather conditions are near the Lighthouse.

This is a minor national site, but its visitor center was improved from our last visit. Friendly park staff, inviting, good display of environment. Sadly, the small theatre was closed for covid, even though all were masked.

Nice visitor center with huge parking lots and across the street from the Earthquake trail which was very interesting and an easy walk.
The VC has good info on the park both on the placards outside and inside.

Great place to stop and get an overview of the park and the area. Small, but just right for a quick stop.

Lots of parking and nearby trails make the Visitor Center a good place to stop for a bit. I enjoyed the short walk to the replica of a native village. The VC had a great selection of books and gifts too. The road from Muir Woods NM to Point Reyes was hilly and windy and fun to drive!

We were under time constraints as we considered taking a detour to visit Point Reyes on our way from Bodega Bay to the airport in San Jose. I decided to make a short visit with the intention of possibly returning some day for an extend visit. We started off at this visitor center where we enjoyed the various exhibits. A congenial ranger provided a brochure and directions to our desired destination, the Elephant Seal Overlook. Unfortunately, we did not have time to hike any of the trails, but I now have placed doing so on my To Do list.

Suggestion to the snippy Forest Ranger who worked at Bear Valley Visitor's Center at 10:00am on Friday, September 13, 2019.....remember that the people who come here are not from the area so you could treat them with understanding and kindness when they ask you questions about what to do in the area.

Point Reyes is great and the rangers at the Bear Valley Visitor Center were extremely helpful in describing hikes, places to go, and the time that it would take to get to the various spots. A must stop before exploring the area.

Some visitor centers are "in and out" sorts of places, good for a bathroom stop, maybe a bit of quick information or even a souvenir. This one is more like a grand, lovingly curated museum/tribute to a unique ecosystem. Build some time into your visit, then, and wander around here before setting off on trails, to beaches, to the lighthouse, etc. The information you gain will greatly enhance the rest of your experience.

Point de départ pour explorer Point Reyes côté mer et aussi côté arboré....s’y garer et faire 10 min à pied sur la droite ... vous arrivez sur une ancienne réserve indienne ...Et des biches en liberté ...

Hi,
We're planning to visit Point Reyes in the first week of March. I'm wondering about the weather and trail conditions at that time of year. If you have experience hiking around that time of the year, we would appreciate pointers/tips.

The raining season lightens by March. Because daylight savings don't begin until 3/11/18, some trails may or may not be available. I would check their websites. Good luck.
