Deze dag was heerlijk. De gids heeft me steeds verrast met locale hapjes het fietsen was leuk langs de rivier. Volgende week zijn er drakenboit wedstrijden. Er werd veel geoefend en er lagen wel 30 boten. De lunch was bij een cultuur & art centrum. Dat was wel aardig. Aan het eind zijn we naar een hot spring in Japanse stijl gegaan. Dat was absoluut een hoogtepunt
De gids is heel flexibel. Als je van whiskey houdt, rijdt hij graag even om voor een locale proeverij.

Our family of four (two daughters ages 13 and 9) did the Pinglin ride with Alex. I really can't say enough about the high level of service Alex provided. From the spotless, comfortable van, to the excellent driver, to the scenery and commentary, it was a more than perfect day. In fact, it was our family's favorite day (of 7) in the Taipei area. And we love Taipei so that is saying a lot!
Our family is pretty into food and we had prepared ourselves for a touristy 'tea' themed meal during this ride. We were more than pleasantly surprised that we got to eat in a local establishment where we were the only tourists and the food was excellent (note: it was not a fancy place, but that suits us very well!). We also really appreciated the snacks and water that Alex had ready for us on the ride.
Our only regret is that we did not do this trip earlier in our stay in Taipei as we 150% would have booked another one before leaving.

We did 2 tours with Taiwan Cycling - the full day Taipei tour and the Daiyujue River tour both with Alex. Alex was a great guide and very accommodating to our modifications of the tours. Both were good, but the river bike trip is spectacular with wonderful scenery of the hillside tea plantations. I highly recommend this tour of the countryside, just 40 minutes outside of Taipei.

Our tour guide, Alex, was amazing. He picked us up from the hotel and drove us to a small village to start our journey. He provided bikes, bananas, water bottles and helmets then we started our ride along the tracks to Houtong. From Houtong we ride to Sandiegoling (San Diego) and back to Houtong for lunch at a local restaurant . Lunch consisted of pork diaphragm, smoked shark, octopus and noodles. Alex gave us 45 minutes to explore Houtong. Then we put up the bikes and drove to Juifen. Juifen was also amazing and Alex showed us all the good food stops. Amazing tour. Highly recommended.

Our group of three was a bit hesitant to go through with our booking after discovering it would be raining the day of the trip. However we were assured that adjustments would be made as needed depending on the weather.
We ended up having Alex as our guide, who was great with English and his knowledge of Taiwan. Our first half of the trip was cycling through some gorgeous trails in Pinglin, though it was unfortunately a bit slippery. We tried some great local food and had some tea from the local farmers.
The second half of our day was changed to visit Jiufen because of the heavy rain, which was quite pleasant. Alex was very accommodating and even gave us some great food recommendations in Taipei afterwards.
Definitely worth it, though be sure to watch the weather if you want maximum cycling.

Good workout uphill, beautiful scenery and loads of eating after - can't complain!
The ride took us along the stunning Daiyujue river and along quiet back roads. Alex matched our pace, kept us aware of oncoming vehicles, and made sure we were prepared ahead of steep climbs.
Recommended for cyclists with some experience / stamina. We were certainly winded!
The ride was followed by a delicious lunch at a local restaurant, a visit to the Pinglin Tea Industry Museum (and then more food), and a drive up the mountains to view the gorgeous Crocodile Island.
Highly recommended for a fuss-free day trip out of Taipei.

Our guide for the day was the Alex. He made the entire tour very pleasant and comfortable.
Beginning our day with a pick up at our hotel, he made sure all of us had enough hydration for the ride. Following which is a 40 min drive from our hotel to the start off point. At various points of our journey, Alex gave us interesting points of where we were at or nuggets of Taiwanese history. The cycle on our first leg wasnt easy neither was it very difficult. Recommended that you take this tour with a basic level of fitness. You'll definitely feel accomplished once you reach your destination. Following that, we had a tour of the Pinglin Tea museum follow by Local Tea and Snacks provided by Alex. After which we visited a local Tea Plantation to purchase our tea leaves straight from the producer. Definitely recommend this tour as something different from the usual shopping and eating tour of Taipei!

Taiwan Cycling team was fantastic in every way. Organised things from pick up to drop off. Their local knowledge was invaluable to making the cycle tour enjoyable and safe. Thoroughly recommend them to anyone looking to take a cycking tour of Taiwan.

Used these guys to take my fiends and I around parts of Taiwan. I can't say enough good things. They were extremely helpful, patient and had a lot of knowledge on all things cycling. Very professional operation and just great people to tour with!!!

We (my 2 9-year olds and I) booked Taiwancycling through Viator. The day started with a scenic drive to Fulong. We unloaded the bikes at a locally manned parking lot and rode on the local roads to the old coal tunnel. Easy ride, especially through the tunnel, as it had a slight downgrade. The temperature was nice and cool. Do watch out for slow bikers and stationary people, as the tunnel was lit very dimly. Once we exited the tunnel on the other side, we stopped to take pictures and rode back along the bike route parallel to the road and sea. You will not be disappointed with the view. I don't think driving the route and stopping along the way would've given you the same perspective. We biked through small fishing villages and stopped for breaks along vista points. The eastern most point of the island is a good stopping point for water and snacks. There are a number of inclines, we pushed our bikes up if too much. Total round trip distance was about 11 miles.
After biking, we drove to 'downtown' Fulong and picked up our lunch from a restaurant adjacent to the train station. We drove to a beautiful and secluded park to enjoy lunch and the scenery. After lunch, we drove to Pingxi to visit the old streets and to write and release a paper lantern. Be aware, this town is very touristy, unfortunately. The lantern experience was still very cool.
On the drive back, we had some extra time, so we stopped to walk down Shenkeng market area for some tofu. We were dropped off at our hotel because it was on the way. Otherwise, I believe the drop off is at a MRT station.
All in all, we loved our trip. Equal amounts of activity and sightseeing. We didn't feel rushed in any way. The only reason why it's a 4 rating vs 5 is that my kids were on a smaller bike than what they were used to riding, so they had a bit of discomfort. Suggestion if you are bringing kids, give the tour company the measurements of legs in addition to kids' heights. Maybe also the size of the bikes they are used to riding.
