and the building architecture is beautiful. it's big but not many art works in exhibition, since not too far from Taichung downtown core, it's still worth paying a visit

The National Museum of Art in Taichung is located in the educational district surrounded by greenery.
It's simply huge, with a wonderful space.
This museum also exhibits works by Taiwanese artists. Apart from a large exhibition of ink-wash artists, there were many videos and avant-garde works. It's a shame that the space isn't fully utilized. There was a lot of empty space. It's great that admission is free.

It's a nice museum with art of local artists and temporary exhibitions. Entree is free which is always a good thing as it encourages more people to go. The lay-out is kind of confusing though and the collection somewhat limited. It has some nice pieces, but also a lot of art that is very reminicent of (early) Japanese art. Which is a shame as Taiwanese art can stand on it's own.

This was a large sprawling museum filled with modern Taiwanese art by local artists. Admission was free and photos allowed as long as your flash was turned off. Larger works were also staged outside in the expansive museum grounds.
Getting around the museum was a little confusing as some areas were closed off so there were times I had to make a u-turn and backtrack through galleries to just reach the next gallery.
Galleries were quite large for one or more pieces of art. A lot of mixed media along with electronic (video and sound) pieces contrasted with the typical paintings. Descriptions of each work of art was in both Chinese and English.
The VR Experience would normally require a reservation but there was no line when I arrived. Setup was good, images a little choppy but immersive with different episodes based on paintings such as the Scream. I did feel a little dizzy afterwards but enjoyed the VR experience.
There also was a cafeteria, bookstore and a library onsite. The library required a library card to enter.
Overall a worthwhile museum to visit and escape some of the heat during the day.

Very good collection of fine arts. I am mesmerized by art, including fine art. It's well worth a visit here to take it all in. Busy but not crowded when we were here.

Taiwan's creative industries are under appreciated. This is a pity, because Taiwan has a long history of fine art, going back to the Japanese period. The museum has many fine pieces of modern and contemporary art. The gallery provides an outlet for local artists; it has given these artists encouragement to pursue their talents. The Museum is one of Taiwan's top galleries, it's well worth a visit.

全台灣唯一國家級美術館，每年全國美展得獎作品定期在此展出，館區幅員遼闊，從完工至今歷經數次擴建已然是亞洲佔地最大美術館，其中許多日治時期台灣本土畫家的作品更是館內的鎮館之寶，例如黃土水〈水牛群像〉，有空不妨進館內一觀。

有藝術氣息
室內室外環境皆讓人覺得放鬆舒適
地下1樓和旁邊有圍籬整修施工程但「春水堂」還是有在營業
「繪本區」改到二樓還是有開放
現在只有一個「未至之城」主題展覽
樓上樓下展場空間寬敞非假日的時候可以慢慢的欣賞慢慢地逛

We took a public bus from our hotel to visit this museum and the surrounding park. Entrance was free and you get to enjoy all the fine arts and sculptures inside and outside. Interesting.
