I walked a short 11km out-and-back section of the Wild South Coast Way starting at Cape Jervis at the Sealink Ferry Terminal. The trail head is easy to find and is well marked. The path is a variety of rocky and sandy and some parts are a bit overgrown, having to push through some bushes from time to time. The coastal scenery is spectacular, along with the wildflowers and birdlife. A pod of dolphins was swimming up and down the coast as I walked, which made it quite special.

My partner have done bits and pieces of the Heysen trail throughput South Australia and have always found it well maintained and sign posted.

Ne abbiamo fatto solo pochi km ( non aiutati dalla metereologia...) ma è un percorso per trekkers molto preparati di svariate centinaia di km, arriva infatti sulle Flinders Ranges sopra Adelaide...

We saw the sign said 'Walking' trail but it didn't state 'no bikes/riding' so we figured we'd give it a go with our mountain bikes.
Some sections were ok for riding but the section from the bottom of tent rock rd to the start of tapanappa rd was adventurous to say the least! We had to carry our bikes across a waterfall and down steep steps and rocky single tracks.
Was well worth it for the experience and the amazing views though next time we will hike it.

Après avoir marché sur la totalité du trail, je peux vous dire que c'est une des meilleurs sections, bord de mer, beaucoup de kangourous,très paisible...

Have walked it end to end, plus many of the special parts twice or three times, and just can't get enough. Great signage throughout which takes you to many of the best high points in the Mt Lofty and Flinders Ranges. Also through plenty of great little country towns where the hospitality is second to none

We have been just about completed book 1 southern. Great scenery and such an unique way to see south australia. Plan plan plan and always be aware of the signs. Bring plenty of water and encourage people to see this wonderful trail.

The Heysen Trail is a long distance walking trail in South Australia. It runs from Parachilna Gorge, in the Flinders Ranges via the Adelaide Hills to Cape Jervis on the Fleurieu Peninsula and is approximately 1,200 kilometres (750 mi) in length. From north to south, the route of the trail may be summarised by the following landmarks in order: Parachilna Gorge - Flinders Ranges National Park - Hawker - Quorn - Mount Remarkable National Park - Melrose - Crystal Brook - Spalding - Burra - Kapunda - Adelaide Hills - Deep Creek Conservation Park - Cape Jervis.
Some of the walking sections are fantastic with great views of hills and the ocean plus encounters with native animals and flora. There are sections of remnant native bush which are stunning - the best time to see these are in winter when the native australian bush is in flower.
Take a group of friends and walk a section to see how good it is. Plenty of good information available on the website and you can purchase books and maps from the shop in Adelaide and get helpful information.

We enjoyed walking part of this trail, but the lack of signage was a real problem. Walkers need to know distances etc.

Starting from Cape Jervis (gateway to the ferry across to Kangaroo Island). I did 60km to Parsons Beach. Huts in places, but not consistent.
Many people in some places at official camp sites. not many places with tables, water tanks along the way, but know where they are. Some areas very steep, slippery, and downright dangerous. Signage can be either absent, or misleading. Especially in the farmers fields. There are fences to climb, some with barb wire. There are some very difficult climbs and it can be wet and very very windy. Sometimes had to be very close to the ground! there is a water crossing, but easy enough. The full length is 1300 -1400 km . This is only the Coastal part.

Hi Michael I hope you got to do your hike. Carrying all your gear cape jervis to victor harbor would have been perfect. Otherwise day hikes from Adelaide starting at mylor or Cleland and finishing in montecute or mt Crawford also shows the beautiful south Australia

I might add, that if its anything to go by, the bottom half: the huts are irregular, infrequent and unreliable way of a nights sleep. They seem to be good huts when you find them. Sometimes signage has been interrupted and you can miss the shelter/hut. I took a tent, but possibly be able to go from town to town on the inland track.
