We had a lovely few days staying at the one bedroom Hitchings Cottage. Unfortunately the cellar door was closed during our stay but we still got to sample some wine and sit on the picturesque verandah overlooking beautiful scenery.
The cabin has everything you need for a comfortable stay and it is a short 7 minute drive to the heart of Stanthorpe.
Thank you Denice & John for your hospitality and for the daily collection of kindling at our cottage door each day for the fireplace.

We recently attempted to try some wines at this spot. However upon walking up the stairs to the tasting area we were quite rudely informed that there was no room for us and we could either wait or return. This would have all been more than reasonable except for the rude tone and actions the lady took in removing the chairs that were closest to us at the time. We also noticed that were only two other small groups present. We’re assuming that this spot has a preference for bus groups of which we weren’t. There’s so many great spots in Stanthorpe I wouldn’t waste any time here.

We can highly recommend this terrific winery when visiting Stanthorpe. We visited 3 others and this one was by far the most enjoyable. If the beautiful Queenslander doesn't win you over then the host John certainly will. We felt like we were having an enjoyable glass of wine in his home compared to the other wineries which were more like sheds. John was very knowledgable and his passion for wine was very evident. We had a laugh, we learnt a lot and were very happy taking away a couple of his yummy wines. Sadly we didn't eat there however one look at the degustation menu and we wished we had, it looked amazing. Don't miss this winery when in Stanthorpe you won't be dissappointed.

There is a $5 tasting charge if you don’t buy, but if you don’t buy I would think your mad. Can I suggest going with a budget or you may need to take out a personal loan. Easy five star.

Warmly received by Denise, the owner and cellar door located within her historic home. A lovely list of wines to try and nothing too much trouble in terms of tasting and wine knowledge. This region is experiencing it’s driest season on record so we appreciated Denise’s positivity of her wines and the Stanthorpe vineyard district. Some Whiskey Gully varietals are known as “strange birds” which is a way Stanthorpe’s vineyards highlight unique wines not easily found in other parts of Australia. Well done Denise for receiving our family of 5 without an advance booking. Whiskey Gully is perhaps the closest vineyard to Stanthorpe and was a great start to our afternoon wine tour. Thank you.

The wines don't disappoint and the food is wonderful. The owners are superb host who know what they are doing. the wines speak for themselves but the whole experience is worth it. loved the place

While some friends were visiting we decided to have a tasting at Whiskey Gully. I'm so happy we did because the owners Denice and John were just lovely. John took time off from tending his vines to play guitar and sing some songs....words he conjured out of the air to make us laugh. What a gorgeous voice this man has. His wife Denice stunned us with her knowledge and wit, regaling us with funny and interesting stories of their lives and passing on great facts on their produce. They grow all their own grapes and together with their winemaker have delivered some pearls. Be sure to try their chardonnays. It's worth asking about becoming a member; some great savings to be had

Service was lovely and atmosphere really nice with guitar and singing from owner, good wines but a little expensive and $5 tasting if you don't buy, only a small cellar bar

This is a lovely old house and the gardens were qell maintained. Our party of four were not impressed with the wines but everyone has their own tastes. Try them for yourself.
