‪Amazing trip with environmental approach‬

‪Usually i am not writing any review but after this trip i felt to leave a review.
An amazing trip of 5 hours for a very good price. Saw pods of 300 dolphins and around 6 blue whales. The biggest reason i am writing this review is the way how they approach the blue whales. While other boats run directly to the blue whales when sighted, this organisation make sure to leave plenty of space between whale and boat and still ensure good whale sightings from the boat. This environmental approach is combined with whale education, fruits and breakfast on the boat.

A very nice organisation to go with to see the biggest animals on earth.‬

Dolphin and whale watching was one of the most amazing experiences in Sri Lanka💛

Why I recommend @rajaandthewhales over others although you can find cheaper options👇🏽

•Raja and his crew are all highly experienced and they collect data for research teams outside Sri Lanka🔥 they briefed us thoroughly and answered all my questions

•They respect wildlife and make sure the guests on their boat do too🐬

•They cook fresh food for breakfast and lunch on the boat during the tour and they don't use plastic at all♻️

•They don't overfill their boat and the upper deck has only mattresses instead of chairs for people to chill/take pictures/watch the animals freely😊

•The toilets on the boat are very clean and maintained frequently (fav part)🌚

•If you don't manage to spot a whale (we were lucky to spot blue whales and spinner dolphins) you can go on another tour for free💛‬

‪Wonderful experience. We went on 29.4.23.

Extremely professional well run service with good communication the night before especially as we were a very last minute booking. Pick up arranged from our hotel for free. Anti sickness tablet offered for free (recommend).

Boat departed on time. Only about 15 people on boat not over crowded like other boats. Cup of tea/ coffee and wonderful breakfast of fruit ans egg on toast.

Most importantly however, Raja and his team has incredible respect for these wonderful creatures. If you want to see these animals respectfully in their natural habitat then this is who you should go with. (And really if u dont you shouldn't be going at all). Raja has good knowledge of whales as has studied them for a long time, we saw dolphins and the incredible blue whale. Lots of other boats (about 10) chasing the whale to the point of distress- Raja kept his distance. Eventually the other boats got bored and went away as whale kept diving away from the boats, Rajas patience paid off as the whale ended up coming to us and swam under the boat.

Weldone to Raja and his team for doing the right thing and treating these creatures with the respect they deserve.‬

‪I asked friends who live in Sri Lanka as well as those who have visited many tourist sites. They all said this is the only company to go with, you will not be disappointed with the them. From our initial enquiry about cost and availability, this is very professional team, follow up emails and phone call the night before, the checking in process seamless, coffee as soon as we got on the boat, fantastic breakfast. Oh and we found and saw a whale. Raja briefs you about how they operate, the respect for the animals and they are true to there word, we were not the boats charging at the whale once it surfaced, we watched and waited from a far. This meant that we got to enjoy the whole beauty of the animal.‬

‪Not worth the money ‬

‪I really appreciate the fact that Raja & the Whales care about the wildlife and respect them by keeping the distance to the animals in the water. However I was kind of disappointed by the whole experience. You had to sit on the floor of the boat, the breakfast was really boring (just fruit, egg and white bread with no butter or anything on it) and the staff wasn't very friendly. The "manager" on the boat bragged about how good and respectful he was to the animals all the time which kind of ruined the impression of it all. The boat was also kind of big and high up from the water so when we saw dolphines swimming next to the boat they were still pretty far away from you. I prefer watching dolphines from a smaller boat. Also we only saw one whale and the manager of the boat told us that we were really lucky to have seen it. He said that he hasn't seen blue whales for many years and that the whale we saw is the only whale he has been seeing around that area for months. That of course isn't his fault but
we felt rather deceived since we had heard and read on their web page that there was a very high chance to see whales during their tours (probability of 90% for whales and about 50% for blue whales) - which apparently isn't correct information. So I wouldn't say that it was worth the money for around six hours on the boat to see one whale (that you only saw a small part of) and some dolphines.‬

‪Best Tour - Team really cares for animals and dont chase like others do‬

‪Best decision to go with Raya and his Team. Saw lots of Dolphins and also blue Wale. Team was super nice! Took care of everything - had lots of water and Food on Board. But most important: they really care
For the animals and ocean. They dont chase the wales like other boats do - we just waited a Bit and then had the experience without 10 other boats- by ourself- wale was way More relaxed - spend More Time breathing. So if you want to do a tour do it with raya. They also do Research and have lots of information to Tell you.‬

‪Bien belle matinée avec les baleines‬

‪Recommandé par notre agence, très bonne expérience avec Raja et son équipage.
Dès l'accueil il nous est proposé des cachets anti mal de mer.
A bord du bateau, thé café fruit omelette vous seront servis durant la matinée avec l'eau à volonté.
Les commentaires sont pertinents et démontrent leur sensibilité écologique et leurs connaissances de cette baie de Mirissa.
Nous avons eu la chance de voir moult dauphins et l'apparition de 4 ou 5 baleines.
Les photos prises par l'équipe sont envoyées par mail 3 jours après et ce gratuitement.
Le rdv à 6h est largement récompensé....‬

‪Very scrupulous company. It's really cool that the owner Raja is actually present, involved, and actually the boat captain.

Yes you could go with a cheaper option, but this company is ethical, practices what it preaches and doesn't molest the wildlife. There are no hidden costs and all the members of the team were extremely professional and knowledgeable.

Yes your ultimate desire is to be 2 feet from a whale, but this is not the ethical thing to do (unless it happens by chance).

Don't be a whale-hole and do the right thing. Go with Raja!!!‬

‪Anchor tour trip to Sri Lanka around Raja and the Whales. ‬

‪This is a once in a life time game changing bucket list thing to do. This is my 2nd visit to see Raja and the Whales. Boy boy boy, this is the greatest blend of exhilaration, humanity, serenity and undeserving fortune of a lifetime. After doing my sustainably studies it’s just a blessing to learn from Raja and see in action how he meticulously balances a lifetime experience of viewing a Blue Whale and perpetually abiding by the safest of guidelines to repeat this gentle giant, the eco system and the works around it.

The hospitality on board was better than some 4 star restaurants in Sri Lanka, with breakfast, refreshments, Thambilli, lunch, sweets and much much more.

I sleep better at night having been on this trip with Raja and wake up at night remembering the avaricious humans who breached their territory and 2 speed boats almost motoring right into the whale.
Raja stay true to your soul and purpose. We love you and the crew for it ‬
