This was worth the trip to Japan in and of itself. It is unlike anything you can experience elsewhere. I love the comprehensive sensory experience where rooms of intensity are separated by calming black passages. I went twice, and each time left in a state of zen, no matter the crowds or the scent of feet in the change room (it doesn't smell like feet after that). I would love to have my STEAM students build the koi room at school - if only!

This is a busy but very cool art exhibit. It has two areas: water and garden. The water one, as the name suggests, involves walking through a lot of wet areas. The garden one has a few other installations with hanging plants and an artistic garden interpretation. They ask you to go barefooted through all of that, which makes the whole experience, unsurprisingly, smell like wet feet. Strongly. It’s busy, and they try to usher everyone through the experience at about the same pace, which can seem a bit rushed at times. We were in and out in about 90 minutes. But again, with the smell, moving quickly was not bad. The art itself makes for great pictures so it was all worth it.

This must be one of the most visited attractions in Tokyo for young foreign tourists. There are realms of reviews including detailed description of each individual attraction so I will not repeat them here. It is an interesting experience, especially if you could figure out a way to avoid the crowd. Now this seems impossible since the place is usually booked solid, with perhaps a few evening slots unfilled on the weekdays. I went on a rainy afternoon in a week with mostly fine weather - and I was like an hour early. There was significantly less people there than I anticipated, and when I gingerly asked if I could go in during the slot preceding my scheduled time - I was told that it was normally not possible (each slot would be full) but since there weren't so many people there, the staff made an exception for which I was truly grateful (the alternative was not very attractive - there was nothing interesting on a late afternoon in the neighborhood). They limit the number of visitors in each attraction, and there was still a brief wait for some of them, but I was able to enjoy most of them quite thoroughly by finding my own space within the room. Still, all the wonderful IG pictures not withstanding, it is just not possible to enjoy a truly immersive experience with all the people around even with a diminished crowd, which is a pity.

Too busy and crowded. It's a steady stream of people. Many who don't follow the instructions. It's crowded and smells like feet. You end up waiting while inside, and it's just overwhelmed with people. The exhibit would be much cooler if there were fewer allowed at one time.

I'm sad to report that the TeamLab did not live up to the hype. Here are a few main points:
1. The whole place smells like feet! You are asked to take off your shoes and walk in some bleach-diluted solution to disinfect before entering the rooms.
2. I visited around 4pm on a weekday and it was PACKED! We waited almost an hour in line to get in even though we came at the designated timeframe.
3. The "Garden" section was a total bust, especially the Floating Garden. Don't get me wrong, it is beautiful and creative for sure. But it is impossible to enjoy due to the amount of people in the room. They let visitors come in by group (guessing 30-50 people). Each group gets about 3 minutes and then is asked to leave right away.
That said, if this place is on your must-do list, maybe come right when they are open.

在新丰州稍微离市区有点远，坐海鸥线就比较方便。最好提前线上买票，当地买的话很容易售罄，但好像随便买当天定时的票实际也能随时进。
里面的声光效果很不错，特别是wet garden部分，适合拍照分享。

This place was a very unique experience. Took my 10 year old nephew and he had such a nice time. The water part of the exhibit is unlike anything I had ever done. Such a great adventure.

C’est coloré, c’est fun, de quoi passer un bon moment. Nous sommes restés environ une heure, le staff vous presse de temps en temps pour fluidifier le passage des visiteurs ( on aimerait passer plus de temps dans certaines salles). Il faut arriver à l’heure, la file d’attente est longue mais ça avance assez vite.

Wear shorts!
We wanted to go to TeamLab Borderless - but we realised that it was relocating elsewhere and would not be open when we were due to visit, however, TeamLab Planets was the next recommendation. We bought tickets in advances, and it is further out near Disney, out on Odaiba, so if you are central Tokyo, allow time to get there - your pasmo card will cover you for the journey.
Booking process was absolutely fine with no problems - and upon arrival you queue for your timeslot.
When you enter you watch a short video and then take your shoes off - the whole experience is shoes off. They provide free lockers to put your shoes, coats and bags into (you will want to use it as they'll only get in the way)
There are rooms that you walk across that are water, rooms that are spongy like pillows, some that are shiny floors, and some are projections. However my favourites were the LED light room (which is the second room) and the koi fish room (which is the third room). Some of the rooms have the water go halfway up your calves. Take your camera though as it is really nice
The concept of Planets is to be closer to nature, so if you read the wall plaques and really absorb yourself in it you will have a good experience. I was really pleased to have gone and we really enjoyed it - we were probably there about 90 mins i would say!
The only let down was that other tourists did not put their coats and bags in the lockers and were knocking all the lights which was a little frustrating. There were a few rooms that I did not enjoy as much, but that is ok - things I like will be different to others too!

Can I visit the teamLab gift shop without a ticket?

As user swisstraveller said, you can access the Uzu vegan ramen restaurant and flower shop (if it's open as it was closed when we went) without a ticket.
I dont recall seeing an actual gift shop there as such. Best use the enquiry form on their website and email them for definitive information.

Curious why this one is open yet the Teamlab Borderless seems to be closed because of the Coronavirus, does anyone have more info?

Is it ok for elderly with wheelchair to visit? I’m travelling with my grands, and they can walk, but concern with the darkness, lighting and etc

It is wheelchair assessable , however you do get wet in some rooms like walking into a pond . In those areas I’m not for sure you yourself wouldn’t be able to fully enter . Not for certain but, yes, they do have it where you can access through a back path . It is all explained on their site . Hope this helps and you all can go enjoy the amazing experience..the kids will absolutely love it I’m sure !
The pictures on this page look very similar to their "Borderless" exhibit -- is the Planets museum that much different??? Or similar? I don't want to visit if it's the same as Borderless.

I went to both Planets and Borderless, and I liked Planets a lot more. It was a lot less crowded, easier to get to, cheaper, more beautiful, and more interactive and sensory.

We are planning on going Sunday, September 29, the day after we arrive in Tokyo. Is it possible to get in without a pre-purchased ticket ?
Hello, they have walk-in tickets according to the information on the internet (I plan to visit there first time next week but haven't ever been there), but they say occupation limit is there, you may better visit afternoon or early morning on weekdays. If you want to go on weekends or around noon, I recommend you to buy online tickets in advance.

Is the university students' ticket discount only for Japanese university students or can I get it with my ISIC card?

ISIC card is recognised somewhat inconsistently in Japan. Some way honor the discounts, some may not. Better ask teamlabs directly if they will honor your ISIC card for discounts.
