We got to the Bubble rock parking around 830am and got the last parking lot on a Thursday . We did the South Bubble trail which is easier as I read from Pinterest blogs and did the same trail to return to the parking. The Bubble rock is unique and wondering how this gigantic Boulder just sit there 🤔 . After further hiking, it reached the South Bubble trail summit with the marvelous Jordan pond view. We saw hikers came up from the Jordan pond and learned that there is more rock scrambling from the other Bubble trail. We told them the South Bubble is easier and they were relieved and glad to hike down from there😊.

Hint number one do not get off at Bubble pond like we did, go to the Bubble rock parking spot! Once you hike up turn around and come down the same way! It was a moderate hike, I’m 58 with a bad knee and I did it easily! The view is worth it and the wonder of how this work got there and is still there is amazing!

Great hike to see the Bubble rock. Parking may be easier at the Jordan Pond to get there. Views are great on a clear day.

We hiked up to south bubble and saw the large boulder. I was unimpressed. However, as you continue past the rock to the overlook it was a great view of Jordan Pond. North Bubble had an even better view and less people - don't skip it!

Bubble Rock is a boulder perched on the summit of the South Bubble. You can see it from Park Loop Road. If you stop at the nearby parking lot it's a short hike to the South bubble to see this rock up close. The summit offers great views of Jordan Pond.

Great trails! South bubble trail to see the balance rock. North bubble to overlook Jordan pond. The trail is popular, but the parking lot is small.

We did this as part of a loop hike. We started at Jordan Pond House, hiked across the Jordan Cliffs Trail, then down to the Jordan Pond Path, then up one side of Bubble to Balance Rock, down the other side, then a nice easy walk on the Jordan Pond Path back to the start - about 5 miles and less than 4 hours. It was our favorite hike in the park. There are great views on top of Bubble and the balance rock is definitely neat to see. The hike up is steep either side, but not too long; it is a bit of a boulder field, so it's uneven and slow. One side involves some hand rungs and pulling yourself up, but nothing difficult.

Amazing view! We are active seniors and managed this trail with relative ease using our trekking poles, via the Bubbles Divide Trail. I was nervous about going out to the rock, though I was still able to go out far enough to capture the view.

We hiked up to the Bubbles from Jordan Pond Path with our dog. The Bubbles Trail leads from Jordan Pond Path at the northeast end of the lake to South Bubble and then North Bubble. The section between Jordan Pond and South Bubble has a few difficult sections, especially for a dog. Alex had quite a bit of trouble at the Fat Man's Squeeze, but eventually got up. He was very proud of himself for getting up to the top. Bubbles Divide Trail is an easier route to access the Bubbles. Bubble Rock, a glacial erratic that seems to be balanced on a cliff edge is near the summit of South Bubble. Both mountains have views towards Jordan Pond from above. Overall, a great hike, but keep in mind the route for Jordan Path is difficult.

Note for casual or novice hikers: DO NOT DO SOUTH BUBBLE FROM JORDON POND! We're casual hikers who are generally comfortable on trails that are moderately difficult, so we left from the Jordon Pond lot and started out counterclockwise around the pond. About halfway around is the trailhead for South Bubble. It's a straight climb upward, which was tiresome but with plenty of little spots to sit for a break and to enjoy the emerging views. Then all of a sudden, it gets kicked up a notch and is DIFFICULT, with steep climbs, an 18 inch notch through which you squeeze, then hoist yourself up using metal hand rail with the edge of the cliff right behind you, begging you to look down and fall to certain death on your family vacation without ever having tried the world famous popovers. We were so close to the top, yet the last bit of path was steep and mere edges from a huge cliff and drop off. It was waaaaay beyond our comfort zone, and sadly, we turned around just a few feet from the peak. Later, we found out that we could have taken the path from the other parking lot to climb a more comfortable trail. I wish I had read the reviews more thoroughly for this one!

Hi! How much time should we plan for this hike?

If you are only hiking one bubble, I would plan on at least one hour. You will want to linger at the top as the views of Jordan Pond are magnificent. If you are hiking both bubbles, plan on an hour and a half. It is well worth the time and the effort, but be sure to arrive early in the day as parking is very limited and fills quickly. Enjoy!

interested in the following in one day. could someone help me put them in the correct order so as to be time efficient and what parts we should drive or shuttle BUT we want to do some of the hiking trails, moderate and scenic! here is the list:
1. Cadillac Mountain for sunrise (how long does it take once we enter the park to drive up there to see!)
2. Ocean path to otter cliffs (I guess this will depend on tide, we will be there July 13th
3. Bubble Mountain
4. thunder hole
5. Jordan pond for popovers
6. Park Loop

Cadillac Mountain is only 15-20 min from the main gate driving, check for sunrise time get there 30-45 min prior and pray for clear weather. Thunder Hole is at the beginning of the Ocean Path so once again timing/conditions are key to hear the "thunder". Jordan Pond and Bubble Mountain are close enough to get that if you're hungry you can go there first or vice versa if you're not. Finish up with the Park Loop.
PS if you aren't afraid of climbing a few ladders the Beech Cliff Trail is the most underrated hike in the park! Enjoy!

Is the bubble rock trail open year round? We will be up in Maine April 5-12 and it would be amazing if we could walk the trail.

There are a few trails that are groomed throughout the winter. Bubble Rock Trail doesn't appear to be one of them. But by April, I wouldn't think snow will still be on the ground. Probably super muddy, though.
