The Fort, from the outside, is certainly impressive. The walls up to 30 meters high are truly majestic. Everything changes once you enter. It is literally falling apart. The owner family appears to have left for London decades ago, abandoning the fort to its fate. If the state doesn't take care of it as soon as possible, in a few years there will be almost nothing left. Such a pity. The nearby mosque is much more interesting. Entry would be free but there is a guard who should be tipped a few hundred Rupees. I gave 300 RP, 1 Euro. The Fort is in Bahawalpur and can be reached only by private transport.

I had the opportunity to visit this historic site in May, which is known for its extremely high temperatures in Bahawalpur. The castle is located about two hours away from the city, so it's important to leave home on time. I would recommend visiting in the morning to avoid the heat. While the place is good for family visits, it's important to note that the castle is in a dilapidated state and there are no options for purchasing food or drinks. Therefore, it's better to pack things according to your needs, especially ample amounts of water.
Having a guide with you is essential if you are a history lover. You'll appreciate the importance of the place, otherwise, it may just seem like a ruined fort. One thing that caught my eye and made me stop for a moment was the beautiful mosque inside the castle. I found solace in the mosque, which was a rarity in Bahawalpur. However, it's important to remember to remove your shoes before entering the mosque. It was quite disturbing to see people visiting while wearing their shoes.
I would give this place a 3.5-star rating because the authorities have left it at the mercy of nature. There is no proper cleanliness or mechanism to make this place tourist-friendly. Overall, it's a great place to visit if you are interested in history and want to explore the ruins.

No much known facts about the fort are available. Amazing landscape of Cholistan makes it worthy adventure. The link road of last 40 km is broken and its advisable to finish this drive before sunset.

What a magnificent fort, rising out of the surrounding Cholistan desert! Visible for miles. This is an incredible visit, not to be missed. The massive fort is both beautiful and daunting -- just imagining how much work it took to build. Truly wonderful.

This is a magnificent extensive fort in Bahwalpur, Rohi (Cholistan) desert, owned by the Abbasi family. It should be a UNESCO site. The exterior is relatively well preserved and suggests it is being looked after, alas the interior is quite run down and has suffered the ransacking of it's military past. Who ever is/are responsible for that should be ashamed. A site worth a visit if you like history and architecture. Though is a state of internal disrepair you can identify how people would have lived with in the Fort, the soldiers, the family, the ladies quarters, the under ground tunnels and much more. I have started to learn about what the Abbasi family did and are doing for Pakistan. I really hope Pakistan realises their loyalty and supports them in looking after such treasures as Derawar Fort.

A large square fort with 40 Bastian standing 100 ft high in desert is very attractive. The journey to desert is very adventurous on carpeted road, large fields of wheat crops on both sides of the road, camels, goats, cows and large patches of brown sand. This fort was constructed about 1000 years ago in defence point of view.
Basic touristoc facilities like toilets, restaurant and guide need to be improved. No sign boards for information, no guide is available. In hot summer (April -september) better to visit early morning or afternoon.
No arrangements for night stay. Road is safe for night travelling.
Camping may be a good adventure.
